Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

posted this before, but not in this thread:

Me and my friends used to be big into "ghost hunting" because his house was haunted. One day I was staying the night and we were down in the back stairway/basement recording. It was 2:50 am. My friend said something along the lines of "come on man, I don't feel right, lets go upstairs" and I said "well, lets go up at 3:00, ten more minutes." He shuddered and said "no, we have to go right now" so I said fine, we went upstairs, and I started listening through the tape. At the moment I said "ten more minutes" the camera went blurry like it was trying to focus for a split second and there was a voice as clear as day that said "in ten minutes, you're dead". Then you hear my friend say "no" and we go upstairs.

Listening to that tape was the scariest point in my life. Noone believes me though, since I don't have the tape anymore.

God damn I can still hear the voice in my head, like 11 years later. That's the moment that sold me on there being something else out there that we don't understand. People can talk all they want about how there is no such thing as ghosts or whatever, and I'm surely never going to convince them, but they are never going to convince me, either.

Well, I guess we have to set Trinest on the case. He's Our Man in that area. Trinest, if you read this, your mission is to find the Happy Days Sanatorium, infiltrate it as a reporter/janitor/doctor/nurse/patient, make contact with Bongo, and give us answers. Also, you need to prowl the Pilliga Forest at night and hunt down the Yowie or whatever the hell it was that put such a fear in poor Bongo.
Could he of been high and just watching Happy Days?

Most likely a fake name- or lets go conspiracy cover up- he called from there in what 2007 or something to the radio people? If google turns up nothing its most likely used a fake name if said story is true. Or heres a possibility- fake name because they don't want him knowing where he is?

thomaser said:
You're probably right. But Trinest can use himself as bait. If he walks up and down the highway at night, pasty white legs bared, until the beast grabs him, he can then do... I dunno. I'm sure he can think of something.
I'm from the area, but not directly from the area, like an hour or so away. The point is I could if I wanted to but fuck that. And besides, I don't got no truck to hoon down the highway with at night time to look for ghosts. (I looked on Google or maybe it was in that story that the Peliga Princess only likes Truckers or maybe it was another ghost which is on the highway.)

Did some digging, it seems that what he saw if it was back in 1973 or what ever couldn't be the plegia princess, as she appeared to have died in 93. http://www.local-legends.net/home/RARE-SPECIMENS.php

This.

We are rulling out one paranormal thing at a time. Next one to debunk is Yowies- the guy who runs the site thinks its a Yowie possibly.

Ohhh, this was a very confusing exchange at first but you just mean it wasn't some kind of ghost monster because she wasn't dead yet.

Indeed. Whether what is described actually occurred is irrelevant, in the eyes of Bongo it was real...and that makes it all the more scary.
The only thing that makes me think the recording is a hoax is i cannot find anything about a Happy Days Stays Retreat in Australia (or anywhere else). ive tried checking different combinations (Day instead of days for example) but still have come up with nothing. Perhaps the name was changed. Does anyone know anything more about this sanatorium?

That he is the demons john?

Maybe it was just a hoax?

I don't think we will find anything with the name. I personally believe the name could be part of delusional and surroundings which molded a location for him to feel safe or something- iddno.

What about instead of looking for a specfic one, we look for ones around that area or old ones in NSW etc.

Huh? i know what you are quoting but it doesnt make much sense. im just trying to verify if there is a man that really believes something like that happened to him. Doesnt mean anything supernatural but if there really is a guy that lost his mind after whatever he ran into, that makes the story much more creepier, imo.

Actually I'm sort of making fun, that way I can just easily deny existence of such a creature/being.

It'd make me feel a lot lot better.

I've had many people tell me that my bedroom creeps them out, and sometimes at night I wake up to my bed shaking (like an earthquake but faster - like it's vibrating, sort of).

One time my mom had a dream that a ghost was living in my closet and came out to pull the blanket off my bed. For some reason she decided to tell me about the dream, and after finally managing to forget about it and fall asleep that night, I suddenly woke up to my blanket being pulled off of my bed. It was up around knee-height so it's not impossible that I could have kicked it off in my sleep but it still creeped me out.

A couple months later a friend of mine told me that she had a dream that a little boy, around 5-6, would stand at the foot of my bed every night and just watch me sleep. And in her dream the little boy couldn't control either of his eyes, so they just rolled around independently of each other. Of course I couldn't sleep very well for several nights after that, XD.

Then just the other night, I sort of half-woke up and was experiencing sleep paralysis. I felt some sort of presence open my door (I always sleep with it closed) and walk over to my bed and start choking/tickling me. I couldn't figure out if it was bothering me or if it tickled. Eventually I just fell back asleep and didn't fully wake up until a few hours later when my mom poked her head in the door and said "why is your door open?" I've been completely sure to close it every night now, and it's been open every single morning since o_O

If you realy want to look to see if that story was real, my best bet would be to start looking at how the show was broadcast, if it was local or national, if it was more local and seculded, that means the call was most likely from that area or close to it.

There's a pretty expansive trail system in the woods near where I live, near the Loch Raven reservoir. Well just during the course of hiking around (and then running into some ghost hunters who pointed me in the right direction, but that's another story) I found some pretty interesting places out there that used to belong to a family that lived there over a hundred years ago. Anyway these are the highlights:

Their cemetery (some of the tombstones date back to the mid 1800's):

100_0020.jpg

Their house (foundation)

100_0044.jpg

Their well

100_0048.jpg

Their underground room (not 100% sure what it was used for)

100_0052.jpg

100_0053.jpg

Take my word for it, it's pretty creepy out there at night.

Creepy shit man. I've had my bed shake once before, very similar to how you describe it. I've never had sleep paralysis prior to or after, so I'm not sure what to make of the experience.

I also used to wake up in the middle of the night after I'd thought I felt something pulling the covers down, though I'm sure this was just due to hearing ghost stories of that nature and my imagination. Scared the piss out of me as a kid though.

As for your door story.. fuuuuuuu! Set up a camera perhaps?

And I'd throw a guess that the underground room was used for black magic rituals, torture and rape of virgins storage, probably foodstuffs.

Yeah it'd be funny if there was just a happy family who lived there for a few generations then left. No bad karma at all. :lol

Also, if a person was going to go to the trouble of hoaxing this why the heck wouldn't they take an extra minute to find a real mental institution's name form a phone book? The voice would have to be practiced also details and such memorized to make it that good of a hoax. I am not ruling out that could be a hoax, but the name detail doesn't bother one bit. Creepy story at the very least.

Good ol' Yowie stories. One of our family friends is an old Aboriginal shaman, and she's seen a lot of shit, always tells us to avoid certain things and stuff. I'm sure most of the stuff she used to tell us when we were kids is complete rubbish to keep us in line, but some stories were downright scary. I'll have to go visit her again one day and let her ramble on for a while since most of the things I was told are distant memories.

I remember two things though that stick out; the tall thin lady who would steal children in the middle of the night, and the little white monsters that would snatch your feet if you hung them over the bed.

There's also an old rule she told us that if you ever get touched by someone randomly and they look at you without saying anything, you have to quickly touch them back because the "curse" they have inside them is trying to get more people. Another cool thing was when she'd smoke out the spirits in a house, and the way the smoke would move around as if it is a snake is pretty crazy, coupled with her taunting the spirits and yelling at them to go away.

Yeah I think I saw one of these. Pretty much the only scary thing that's ever happened to me. I was a little kid and woke up and stood in front of my parent's room. When I was little I did that a lot when I was scared or couldn't sleep; I stood in front of the door for a while deciding whether or not I should wake my parents.

During one of those times I looked down the hallway leading to their room and saw a figure move across the living room and into my kitchen. It was entering the front door moving very quickly into the kitchen, and then back out. It kept going back and forth. I thought it was a robber, and I was scared so I didn't move at all. Eventually the figure came right up to me and it assumed the shape of my father, although its color was shadowy purple, like the afterimages you tend to see when closing your eyes after staring at light. It said, in an almost comical yet still just scary enough way, "boo" and disappeared.

I don't remember what I did afterward, and I can't recall how I felt the next day or how long it took for me to tell that story the first time.

But yeah it was a pretty crazy hallucination.

Fuck, this thread...

I just found out about sleep paralysis... damn!!
I thought it was just a bad dream, much less than it happens to a lot of people.

When it happens to me, I "sense" or "feel" someone or something pressing down on me not letting me move. I'm lying face down so I cant see what the fuck is pinning me down. Weird scary shit.

I actually love these threads most of all on NeoGaf. I was really sad that the ghost stories thread died off a long time ago as it was such an awesome source of creepy stories and of course it had the great detective Tonay :lol

Anyway, the worst part about sleep paralysis isn't the sensation of someone pushing down on you, but just that you can feel the presence of "someone there. It's so damn creepy.

I once had sleep paralysis and lay there as something opened up my door and walked into my room. Since I couldn't move, it was outside of my vision, then it came up to my bed and starting pushing down on my chest, and even fucking worse, I could hear it whispering some unintelligible shit into my ear. It all felt so incredibly real that it was just spinechilling.

I've had sleep paralysis many times but never saw a figure. I've felt a presence as people say and I've even heard sounds but I can't say I've seen figures.

There was a point in my life for a good 2-3 weeks where every time I went to sleep I had to go through it...I hardly got any rest because I was so afraid to sleep. I haven't had it in some years though.

fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck. Why am I reading this thread in the middle of the night. I'm jumping at every little noise now :(

On the subject of sleep paralysis, not exactly that but a little related... When I was a little kid (5-6 years old) I once woke up in the middle of the night, and I swear as plain as day I saw a silhouette or a shadow on my bedroom wall of what looked like an old man in a rocking chair, rocking back and forth. Oh man I screamed, woke up the whole house I'm sure. Then my parents came in the room and turned on the light and it was gone. To this day though I still remember pretty much exactly what it looked like.

That's crazy. I used to have extremely vivid hallucinations/half-awake dreams, where it was almost as if I'd be straddling the dream world and waking life at the same time, and some of them involved some otherworldly presence tickling me. For some reason, tickling was just absolutely horrifying. Not really sure why. I mean, I can remember my parents with me, trying to comfort me or shake me awake, but at the same time I'd be experiencing this crazy imagery. It was fucking insane.

I used to read a lot of GI Joe comics. Well, there was one pretty badass issue that featured no dialogue - just Storm Shadow training at his dojo, being surprised by a bunch of enemy ninjas, and then silently taking them all out. I may be remembering this incorrectly, but that's what I can gather right now. Anyway, this particular waking dream involved a helicopter buzzing around my room with tiny ninjas repelling down all around me, like in the comic. In the midst of it were my parents - it was actually at a dinner party at our place - and family friends all looking very concerned and trying to rouse me. It was like the two worlds merged. Very strange. That's my most vivid recollection, but I can faintly remember this sort of merging occurring rather regularly.

Another time, much later (senior year in high school), I remember staying up with a couple friends in my room. We were just chatting about girls, life, the future - all the regular bullshit teens about to graduate think is somehow poignant and important at the time - and it felt like we stayed up all night doing this. We still had school in the morning, so at around 5 AM i turned to them and said that we should probably call it a night. I checked the clock to get the time, turned back to my friends, and they were gone. Disappeared. I was just sitting on the bed, with the bedroom light on, alone. In retrospect, I suppose I just dreamt the whole thing, but damn if it wasn't jarring at the time. I can still recall the conversation we had. It was super clear, very lucid, not at all like most dreams. It just felt normal.

Once, while sleeping at base camp on the Inca trail en route to Machu Pichu, I fell into some sort of fever through the night. I couldn't sleep and was just overcome with absolute, complete despair. It's difficult to explain the sensation exactly, but it felt like my world was crashing down around me. There was a bit of authoritarian/fascist imagery in there - like maybe I was hemmed in on all sides by some military police state (think 1984 or something similar) - and I just remember being consumed by dread and feeling like I was imprisoned, but not physically. More mentally, but completely, totally imprisoned and subject to the whims of whatever entity/group had me in its grasp. Very, very strange. It had passed by morning.

Not sure if these qualify as paranormal, but they're definitely odd and intense, and I was reminded by your mention of the tickling experience.

XD yeah it wasn't really disturbing at the time, just kinda felt like someone was sitting on me and tickling me, particularly around the neck. Kinda weird but I guess I managed to fall back asleep anyway :lol

Sleep paralysis...crazy!
I've experienced that a few times but i didn't know that's what it was called. The last time I remember it happening was maybe 7 years ago. I woke up and could not move. but, my body hurt alot! It felt like I had gotten beat the fuck out up. Every inch of my body hurt. Then i realized I had a hard time breathing in. i tried to talk and call for someone to help but couldn't. I was finally able to make a sound and apparently it was enough for my aunt to hear(I was staying at her place over the summer). When She came in, she said she saw me really still with my fingers and toes bent(kind of like a person having a seizure). I was looking straight up. I finally was able to breath and gasped for air. I sat up and everything still hurt. She said that she heard me make some sort of sound that did not sound like a scream or any normal sound. It took a few days for my body to stop hurting.
Don't know what to make of that experience but this thread reminded me of it.

Here's a better link, the guy condensed everything into a blog. Check out the 2nd video of the camping trip, that scream is creepy as shit.

http://creepycampingvt.blogspot.com/

Apparently there's a shit ton more to this story than I first saw, I haven't read it all so don't yell at me if it turns out to be retarded. Start at the bottom and work your way up.

Here's the last update he's left, for some reason he hasn't put it on his blog yet:
part 1
part 2

To summarize:
- dude's friend hears scream near his house, investigates and finds a mangled deer near a 'stick shrine'(lots of broken sticks stuck into the ground with pine straw and limbs on top)
- they go camping on the mountain and find a SSTV radio station, hear a scream at night
- people on reddit decode the SSTV audio into a partial image and speculate with crazyness
- dude goes back with a buddy and records a bunch of the SSTV station and finds a bunch of the stick shrines and a dry tree(it was raining) and gets followed to their car by something that screams at them right before they get in
- one of the reddit people mentioned an old b-29 bomber that crashed on a nearby ridge so he investigates that and comes back with some cool photos, but nothing creepy
- guy goes back with 3 friends to try to find the source of the SSTV station, he finds it and his friend sees something, they go back to camp and chill. keep hearing things all night, eventually the SSTV station goes dead and the thing starts screaming again and they run down the mountain while it follows

Very interesting read, regardless of it's truth. The last update is fishy though, he hasn't posted video or pictures like with the others. People on reddit got the coordinates from him so perhaps another source will continue the story.

Good old sleep paralysis. I just found out that this existed from reading a column in Gamepro, but I've experienced it a few times.

I can only assume this was my column (I'm andrew p.). Sleep paralysis SUCKS until you realize the science behind it. then when it happens again, it's still freaky, but you kinda know what's going on and it's mildly less frightening.

This isn't exactly "paranormal", but does anyone remember that actress that was in Scarface that went through some sort of weird behavior one day and then just randomly disappeared? It was an interesting story I saw on tv once but I forgot her name.
