Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

The Portraits

There was a hunter in the woods, who, after a long day hunting, was in the middle of an immense forest. It was getting dark, and having lost his bearings, he decided to head in one direction until he was clear of the increasingly oppressive foliage. After what seemed like hours, he came across a cabin in a small clearing. Realizing how dark it had grown, he decided to see if he could stay there for the night. He approached, and found the door ajar. Nobody was inside. The hunter flopped down on the single bed, deciding to explain himself to the owner in the morning.

As he looked around the inside of the cabin, he was surprised to see the walls adorned by several portraits, all painted in incredible detail. Without exception, they appeared to be staring down at him, their features twisted into looks of hatred and malice. Staring back, he grew increasingly uncomfortable. Making a concerted effort to ignore the many hateful faces, he turned to face the wall, and exhausted, he fell into a restless sleep.

The next morning, the hunter awoke - he turned, blinking in unexpected sunlight. Looking up, he discovered that the cabin had no portraits, only windows.

FUCK

That actually freaked me out.

Edit: The Suicide Forest is so eerie.

I remember when I was about 10 I was just laying on my bed and it started shaking pretty violently, it really freaked the hell out of me and I ran out of the room. Mind you I live in Florida and we don't get tremors or earthquakes. I've also seen weird shadows and heard creepy noises in that house, even my friend once freaked out and ran to the front door because he swear he saw a shadow figure. I'm pretty convinced that house was haunted, or it had something to do with my grandparents recent passing's.

I have an unexplained event that occured to me, not creepy or paranormal, but it's a mystery to me. In FEB 2006, my 6 month nephew was admited to the hospital with Pertussis, a.k.a Whooping cough. He had the vaccine and I guess he was part of the 0.1% of recorded cases in the US. He was hospitalized for the entire month and monitored, and I would visit on Monday, Wednesday & Fridays. It was a pretty long trip for me... ~ 2 hours - one-way, but less of a trip from work ~ 1:15 mins. I lived in NY and my sister in CT.

I go to visit on a Monday and I find out my nephew is doing really well ( There was a fair chance he wouldn't make it ) and my parents commented on how MY prayers must have raised his spirits? I kinda just shrugged it off... then my sister commented on how I made the trip 2 days in a row? I looked at her a bit weird... "I wasn't here yesterday" It was Sunday... she said yeah you came and said a prayer and ever since he's been doing better. Now I'm concerned because I'm not a religious person and I hardly ever pray.

Everyone seems to believe I was at the hospital yesterday... so I think, well if I were here then I'd have to sign the visitor-log. I go down to the front-desk and ask to see what time I signed in yesterday... lo and behold there is my signature... my handwritting @ 4:47pm, and I left @ 6:23pm I really didn't know what to believe... it's a 2 hour drive, and I couldn't have forgotten the trip... and on a Sunday? I was home playing Disgaea, really wish I was with friends to confirm I was in NY

My nephew is doing fine now, he's 6 years old, I've only asked my sister once about what happened, she said I went into the room and I sat on the left-side of his bed, she saw me through the netting... and I prayed for about 10 mins, I ate dinner with my family... take-out Chineese... which gives me severe indigestion. I don't remember any of this and I have picture-perfect memory? Writing about this bothers me...

Maybe your Disgaea grinding power materialized itself and healed your nephew?

I am certain I wasn't there, it wouldn't have made sense, I visited specifically on work-days so the trip wasn't so long. Maybe when I Transmigrated Laharl a little essence went to my Nephew.

What I mean is, I know the thing I saw was there. It was a mere 2 and a half metres from me, well lit, and DEFINITELY not normally there. The eyes that saw this thing are no different to the eyes in this head right now.

[...]

I still remember the deep core primal life threatening fucking fear I felt when I saw it. It was like all my ancestors were boiling in my blood, like all my minds instincts were screaming DO NOT TRUST.
I remember it every now and then like a smell, like nostalgia. Every time I think of fear, I think of that moment. Helplessness against a visual thing a child nor adult can comprehend.

Well, these are normal occurences when having night terrors:

- You wake up and see and/or hear something terrible. It looks real, and it sounds real. Sometimes it even touches you so you can feel it.
- You get an immense feeling of dread. Like falling into hell scary.
- You can't move, and feel totally helpless.

You had all of these, so chances are very large that it was just a night terror. The mind is such a fascinating thing.

Does anyone else here suffer from occasional/severe sleep paralysis?

Anyone have any creepy sleep paralysis stories?

I've had sleep paralysis off and on throughout my whole life. Usually it's associated with exploding head syndrome and laying in bed not being able to open your eyes, and feeling a negative presence in the room. I've heard voices from time to time. In one instance it felt like someone was breathing right into my ear, I couldn't open my eyes or turn my head and there was a loud ringing sound as a group of voices started speaking in unison, like ERMAC or something. They said, "We'll make you suffer in life as we have in death," and then the ringing faded away with the presence and I was able to wake up and move around again.

A couple of others that might be of interest, I "woke up" laying in bed and looked over to see the door to my room opening and a white cloaked figure that can best be described as the first ghost you see emerging from behind a cabinet during the early part of the scooby doo intro. The face was a bit more skeletal and he was glowing white and just looked at me holding up a lantern. It seems kind of silly in hindsight, but it was the most realistic event that I've had. It scared me right out bed and I almost broke my laptop that I keep on a TV stand next to my bed I actually use to play audio(podcasts and such) to help pull me into reality out of my paralysis episodes. Of course the figure was gone as I looked back up off the floor. I don't really remember being fully paralyzed in this one, but it was the most real it's ever been.

Same night/morning after the white figure, I "woke up" and was looking up at the ceiling, I felt a sense of dread and I was paralyzed, but I could see. I felt a presence I couldn't see up above me rush down into me creating a nasty chill and a heavy pressure on my chest. As I struggled to move, I could see a face partially and periodically appear that was right on top of me just staring at me as I struggled to move. Eventually I broke free and just decided to fuck trying to sleep that night.

The odd thing for me about sleep paralysis is that I'm obsessed with UFOs, but I've never had a episode relating to aliens. I've had some pretty lucid dreams about them, but nothing as real as the paralysis stuff. I don't believe in ghosts nor am I really superstitious, but that shit always seems to be what is going on in my episodes.

Why wasn't this bigger news? Why am I just seeing this now?

How was this rationally explained?

Because they are unidentified flying objects... unidentified. Meaning it isn't necessarily alien visitation or any of that jazz.

And I'm pretty sure two (or was it one) of the videos was shown to be a hoax.

Fucking crazy.

When I was about 15, I was in church with my mom. It was at a point in the service where the music and singing had mostly stopped and everyone was just closing their eyes and praying to themselves. It was a usual occurrence at that church. It was sort of a segway between the music and the preaching.

I was pissed about being there, because my mom made me go. I did not really believe in any of that stuff at the time, and while everyone else had their heads bowed and their eyes closed either silently praying or whispering it to themselves, I had my chin up, eyes wide surveying the crowd. All that was going through my head was, "god I hope this ends soon. This shit is ridiculous, these people are fucking crazy. LOOK at this shit."

At that time I felt something on my face, like a fly walking across my skin or a bead of sweat rolling down it. It was the kind of tickle you can't ignore, so I put my hand there to scratch it. When I put hand on my face, I felt it again under my hand, then immediately I felt it all over my head and face, like someone had dumped an invisible bucket of water on me. The feeling progressed throughout my whole body like electricity in veins or water droplets rolling up and down under my skin. I plopped back into the pew because my legs felt like they were giving out. I was so afraid at this point that I starting praying in my head for it to stop, because I didn't know what was going on. And about as fast as it had come, it had left. I was still trembling, but I can't say from that point on anything I felt couldn't be explained by the adrenaline or fear. I looked around again from my seat to see if it anyone else was having it happen to them, but nothing looked odd.

I've only told this story to a couple of people, because I know no one would believe it. I certainly would not if it had not happened to me, and I usually don't believe other people's stories. I would perhaps attribute it to getting into the event emotionally and perhaps tricking myself into thinking I felt something. That's how I feel about most of the stuff I would see in a religious setting or the stuff I see on the internet like the crazy voodoo chicken possessed people. But I was not at all into the moment, quite the opposite actually, and the physical feellng was overwhelming and sudden. Closest I come to an explanation is perhaps an insect bite, or being drugged somehow, but I don't think so.

There has been one other weird thing happened to me, but I explain it away as a spectacular case of sleepwalking.

Assuming ghosts exist, why wouldn't they haunt a place just because it is new?
I mistated my point. A ghost is as likely to haunt a new place as an old one (assuming they exist), but a new place obviously has alot less...history. This could work on multiple levels, depending on what scenario of "hauntings" you subscribe to, if any...the longer a house has been around, the more time it's had for people to die in it. Also, the longer a house has been around, the more likely it would be for it to pick up some sort of psychic imprint from its goings-on.

Of course, this is all very generalized. I'm using fictional genre conventions to make sense of a semi-real event. Results will naturally vary.

I don't know percise at what age this happend, but it was in my teen years (14-19). So I woke up early, I can't remember why I woke up early but it was most likely so i could learn for my exam that I had that day (last push). I learn better early in the morning when I wake up. It was still dark so it was I think it happend in autumn/winter (Nov/dec)

Everyone in the house was sleeping. I brushed my teeth quitely and in the dark so not to wake up anyone. Went down the stairs, quitely. I opened the door to the living and entered without first turning the lights on. In our house when you enter you look at the kitchen (+ eating table) and behind you is the living room.

So I enter the room looking at the kitchen (wanted to make breakfast) while I move my right hand behind me to turn the lights on (remember the living room is behind me, i can't see it). Without looking my right hand seems to miss the light switchs so I turn in frustration to turn on the lights.

Well....then I saw the "man" with the red-eyes sitting in the living room there looking at me. Usually i scream (I am male, but I can scream like a girl) when i get scared. But I didn't, I froze....I F#$% FROZE in fear. All my live I was never as scared as i was then. The thing that I looked at was its eyes I could see the rest, it was dark I had not turned on the lights. But I saw a silhouette and it looked like a man, expect its glowing red eyes.

All the time it did not speak it only looked at me. I don't know how long I stood there, but my fight-or-flight instinct kicked in. So I ran, I ran back (still no screaming) to the stairs and closed the behind me and hold the door closed with my own weight. After a couple of secs (maybe 1 min) of nothing happing (no sound, only my breathing) my flight instinct turned in too the fight instinct. I got angry I got really angry (yes i know this sounds stupid, but i got pissed). I thought I'll down fighting. Also note that i could have called for help waking up everyone at home, but that never crossed my minded.

So after a min of getting being pissed off, I opened the door ran in switched on the lights while I was running put up my fists and stopped. It was gone. To make sure i ran in to kitchen with my "fighting stance" but it also was not there. After cooling down my fear returned. I eat my breakfast and went early to school. All the while telling myself that this never happend. But it did, and I know that that thing was real and not my imagination.

To this day when I enter the living room I first turn on the lights.

But I also ask myself what would have happend if i spoke to it instead of running.

I've had a weird history with very strange occurrences happening in my family, that have spanned back since I was about seven or eight years old. Every person in my nuclear family will tell you that something follows us, what the something is though, nobody knows.

I've never had a history of night terrors or sleep paralysis, however I have had extremely vivid dreams from the time I was young, which have since progressed into lucid dreams over the years. Whether or not you want to blame what has happened to me and my family on these dreams is up to you, I personally do not. I can't possibly see how my dreams could impact my whole family.

The day my grandfather had passed away, I was eight. From what I hear, this kind of thing is actually fairly common. That night I was sleeping in my bed, and I heard the sound of my door hinges opening so I woke up. The door was still closed, but at the foot of my bed was a shimmery pale version of my grandfather, that looked at me, smiled, and then seemed to dissipate in the air, kind of like a gas. Freaked the fuck out, I went up to my parents room.

My mom and dad were both awake which was very weird because their usual bed time was nine and it was two AM. All they had to do was look at me and they asked if grandpa visited me too. Apparantly my parents sheets had fallen onto the floor, they woke up, and he was standing at the window just staring outside, they described him exactly the same I would have.

From then on in that house weird shit happened. A year later, one evening, I was sleeping in my room and my digital stereo turned on full volume blasting classical music. It was odd because I had never turned that stereo up to full volume before, and my classical CD and case were on the table right next to it. Two seconds later my television turned on briefly, showed some static with no noise, and shut off. Well, the stereo woke everyone up and they came in to see wtf was up, I blamed it on faulty electrical wiring and went back to bed.

I was left alone a lot in that house when I was 12 or 13 and ALWAYS heard the sound of something walking on the wooden stairs. It would go from top to bottom, stop for about ten minues, then go from bottom to top.

Various weird shit happened in our next house such as a whistling sound every night for the first week (no chimney, open windows, A/C wasn't activated yet) and sometimes my father would see my grandpa still. We'd become accustomed to shit like that though.

The weirdest part is when my family moved to Hawaii briefly. My dad impromptu bought a house and they lived over there for eight months while I was in college. My little sister complained about seeing a woman but nobody else did, so they ignored her. Well, for spring break I went there to visit and shared a bed with my dad. Weirdest shit ever in my life happened that night.

I was dreaming, and all of a sudden my entire dream changed to a view of the bedroom door. Literally everything that I dreamed of was just sucked out and replaced with this view. I saw it open in my dreams, and then woke up abruptly to find my dad passed out and snoring, and the door closed. A few seconds later, something sat between us. It was a weight that just pressed itself onto the bed, and lingered for ten minutes. I sat weirded out, but didn't pay any mind. Eventually the weight lifted and I went back to sleep and dreamt again. The same exact thing happened two hours later that night, I was sucked out of my current dream and saw the bedroom door. Only this time I was able to make out this figure that definitely felt feminine. I couldnt make out any features, but it just gave an aura of feminism. Again I woke up, and a weight pressed down between my father and I. This time it lingered longer, but eventually left, and while I was freaked the fuck out I fell asleep again.

It happened one last time, with the view being sucked towards the door, the waking up, and the weight. This time my dad woke up and asked what the fuck I was doing sitting in the middle of the bed and that he could feel the weight. When I told him it had happened twice already and that it wasn't me, he turned to look and found that I was clearly on the other side of the bed. Immediately the weight got heavier for a few seconds, my dad nodded in understanding, and then the weight left.

That next day my dad spoke with the neighbors and they mentioned in passing that the last family who lived there had their aunt die in the house and they moved out to help with their grieving.

The latest thing that's happened in my family was a few months ago. My grandma had been dying so my mom moved into the house to be her nurse as we couldn't afford to hire one. Twice, my grandmother woke up and announced that there were "spooks" in the house, gave my mom a blank stare, then promptly fell back asleep. She never mentioned anything about ghosts until my mom had moved in.

So overall, yeah, weird shit definitely does happen, and it seems to have some sort of affinity to happening in my family

Actually I was running around screaming incoherently and punching walls in the hallway.

Crazy shit.

Where are you from? My mum spoke of something similar when I was younger to scare me into sleeping early at night.

Really? I followed for a while and I thought it went downhill rather quickly. I'll have to check it again.

It has its moments. I'm hoping for some answers since
Alex is in the more recent vids and he seems to be more in the know.

Sorry for the double post....

I don't know what to type to explain what seeing that video just did to me. I've been carrying that memory with me for years, always recounting it. I never even dreamed I could find someone who would be able to reproduce what saw, let alone make a GOD DAM MOVIE out of it.

I'm pretty much going to have to watch this movie right now.
I've seen the movie. It was ok. I was personally disappointed learning something about the film after watching it though. But give it a shot. Also, it's incredible to me that you've experienced something similar. Hope everything's cool for you now.

except it actually shows things lol. man blair witch would have been so much better if they actually showed you know, the witch.

i like how with this you kinda get answers but its still a mystery.
like in a recent clip how alex was explaining people get hanged from the trees i thought it may have something to do with the suit man's long arms but its never explicitly answered. and then there's alex's dad who has a creepy voice.

Lot of text incoming but I have three stories.

First: I was driving back from college late one night, stopped at stop sign in a small rural town, always nothing going on that time of night. I start to go across the lanes of traffic that don't stop when suddenly I hear a voice whisper 'STOP'. It was so powerful that voice. I just hit the brakes didn't hesitate and barely missed being t-boned by a car that was hauling ass which I hadn't seen.

Second: When I was a teenager I woke up to see a small boy standing at the foot of my bed, he had on a blue hooded sweatshirt and looked to be around 5 years old. He smiled at me and said "I love you dad", I freaked out and hid my head under the blankets, peered out and he was gone. Just crazy it was so real. He looks similar to my four sons I have now but different, hard to remember.

Third - encounter with vampire/pyscho?: I was a freshmen in college the fall of 1995, each night I'd head over to the student union sometimes with a buddy but sometimes alone and play a few rounds of Killer Instinct/Mortal Kombat.

I got use to seeing the same people there, playing pool or bowling. I stayed late that night to around 11pm when it closed, I was basically the last one there that night and was playing some pinball. Out of the corner of my eye I notice a girl walk up next to the machine. Of course my virgin GAFness was in full effect but I turned to look as she stood there. She had long jet black hair, skin as white as porcelain, relatively thin wearing an old style plain black leather motorcycle jacket from like the early 80s and blue jeans, not exactly the going fashion in 95' Missouri. She just stared at me, no facial expression, just flat deadpan expression. I wouldn't say she was pretty just very unusual and so pale.

I smile and say hi, she just stares at me not saying anything... At this point I'm creeped out, it is late and I'm the only one around, and my game was over. I just say to her looks like its all yours, have a good one, turn and walk out. As I get about 50 feet away and I'm opening the door I turn to look back and there she is next to the machine having turned to watch me go just staring.... freaked me the fuck out. I never saw her again for the next four years I was there.

Only kinda related, but I just found this on clearance at Borders today for 10 bucks.

Three of the most fucked up children books ever in one volume for that price? Fuck yes, please.

The artwork STILL creeps me the fuck out, even if the stories are mostly a lot tamer than I remember (Some of them are still remarkably fucked up though). I mean, just look at that cover! Holy shit, who thought this was appropriate for children?

I'm locking this in a god damned vault to save for my children so they will quickly learn to stop asking me to read them bed time stories. Mwa ha ha ha ha!

We could literally have a thread discussing all the creepy stories in the trilogy. Great memories. Anyone ever picked up Haunted Planet? Similar idea.

So, I guess the moral of my story is never sleep on your back.

Almost every sleep paralysis episode I've been through has happened while sleeping on my back (which I normally don't do, except when relaxing on the couch in the afternoon and falling asleep, and on very rare occasions in bed at night). Seems to be when most people have them. I guess we just sleep lighter on our backs? I at least know I do.

And no, I really shouldn't do that, because some of them have been pretty freaking scary. I pretty much never have nightmares or anything like that when sleeping normally (which for me is on my side or stomach).

False awakenings can also be pretty damn scary, and I've had my fair share of those too.

Really? I followed for a while and I thought it went downhill rather quickly. I'll have to check it again.

Well maybe I exaggerated a bit. It can be a bit convoluted, but the response videos (totheark) to the entries are pretty wild and creepy, and I am folklore buff so I love the things it is trying to document. It's something you have to follow closely and read about or it becomes messy, I'd say. But yes, I think it's well done for an amateur/indie project. Roger Ebert apparently thinks so as well.

So I've got a question for UK GAF. I'm looking for podcasts/radio shows (that I can download/listen to online) that deal with things like this. Paranormal (maybe not so much UFO stuff) or more specifically folklore and the occult. Anyone know of anything that might fill this gap? I need long stuff to listen to for work. I just have this feeling there's lots of great material like this in the UK as it's something more commonly pursued by amateurs/non-professionals than here in the States.

+1 for anything, everything Scary Stores to Tell in the Dark

I've read a fair about sleep paralysis, but I just find it weird that the only time I've ever "had" it was also the one time I saw the single weirdest thing I've seen in my life outside my window.

What I mean is, I know the thing I saw was there. It was a mere 2 and a half metres from me, well lit, and DEFINITELY not normally there. The eyes that saw this thing are no different to the eyes in this head right now.

I kind of want to see the thing again, because if I did, (and if I could move) I'd run right up to the window and demand an explanation. Though, saying that is easier than doing that.

It's like that feeling when your walking out of a dark room very quickly, this weird sickening gut instinct that something's not right. Or is that just me.

Sounds like a lucid dream/oobe kind of like sleep paralysis. I used to get this all the time. It's not paranormal, but it is VERY real. I used to wake up and see people walking around my room, I would pinch myself, I would check my surroundings. If you ever were to be intentionally lucid dream, you'd find it was exactly like what you're describing. Trust me unless you went into it intentionally, you would not be able to approach that thing, it takes a few times to build up the courage.

edit- by the way that's what I do all the time now. Lucid dreaming takes some practice, but it's well worth it, seriously give it a shot, it's incrediblly surreal. Not to be that guy, but I think a lot of stuff involving ghosts/aliens/etc. can be explained away by Lucid dreaming/oobe.

thanks for making me scared to leave my room gaf:(
No shit, I just walked downstairs in the dark and had to book it just to get a damn light on since my dad was watching a creepy show already and then I had to come back up here and read this thread and other sites some more to top it all off.

I'm on around 15 different medications with 2 of them being a combination of two of the highest painkillers and then some muscle relaxers so I already have a good chance of hallucinating so the last thing I need is something in my imagination for my drugged out brain to use against me...lmao

My family backs up my claims in this house so at least I know I'm not crazy there...

You're going to see a moth man, demolitio. Possibly a big ol' smilin' grinning man.

The Valentich Disappearance listed above was a creepy one. Reminds me of a plane story (I think I know of thanks to this thread) that talks about some pilots who are in radio contact with an air traffic control tower as they're flying over the city at which they're supposed to land only the city's not there like that Twilight Zone episode. That one was pretty creepy to me. I'm sadly unable to find it. Maybe I just fabricated the entire story.

That's what I've been reading up on. The Men in Black just sound cool so no worries there. It's hard to say you believe in these things but there's no way you can just rule them out. I believe in spirits for sure though given my house. I wish I could find my post from another forum where I explain all my family's experiences in this house.

I have to say I really, really enjoyed reading this.

I've experienced "sleep paralysis" so many times that I'm actually accustomed to it now. After a few seconds I can tell that I'm in the state and I either try to fight my way out, or just relax and try to fall into a deep sleep and out of the state altogether. The second method has worked a lot better for me than the first.

The "type" of sleep paralysis that really freaks me out though is when I'm sleeping and I feel like the bed is shaking. I know that's just me tossing and turning in the bed, but it just feels weird.

Never experienced the owl thing.

I've had one sleep paralysis event that I can remember.

I passed out on my couch in the living room at some point in the early evening a couple years ago and slept for maybe an hour. As I'm about to wake up whatever dream I had been having faded away and I was suddenly viewing my place in my dream. It was weird because I was visualizing nearly everything in the room the way it would be if I were awake. First person view of my feet propped up in front of me, television off to the side, etc.

The freaky part happened when I heard the distinct three bang cop knock on my front door and a male voice yelling "Open up and get the fuck out here or we're coming in to get you!" In my dream, though, I was totally naked like one of those bad first day of school dreams, and of course the paralysis meant that I felt I was stuck to the couch, so I'm desperately responding, "No, don't come in. I'm not wearing anything and I can't move." I ended up able to move my hand a bit and give the pillow on my chest a wimpy throw towards the door which went the wrong way and landed on the floor. The banging and yelling eventually reached a climax and right when that happened my eyes snapped open and I was awake fully clothed on my couch but sweaty and rattled as hell.

I got up and opened my front door and found that no one was there (of course). It's amazing how realistic it was, though. The pillow was on the floor and everything was set in the same place as it had been in the dream. Probably the freakiest thing I've ever experienced, and it was all caused by my jerk brain. Still, I'm glad if I had to experience it it came with a dream about a SWAT team instead of a witch lady sitting on my chest.

Yeah, before I became desensitized to it, whenever I fell into the state and had a "dream" it was SO REAL. One of the worst ones I can recall is similar to yours, but it was burglars, not cops. I heard them trying to break down the door and get inside the house, but I couldn't freaking move. I felt so helpless and vulnerable dude, shit.

Finally got up and first thing I did was to check on my family. Then I ran and checked the doors. Everything was safe, of course, but you understand what I'm talking about. It's messed up.

I only recall one instance of sleep paralysis. I lived on the top floor of a building and my room was by the fire escape. My bed had a great view of if and it was also the only window in that room. I had left some kinda clothing to dry out on one of the rails and passed out. When i was waking up, literally the very second of going from unconscious to conscious and my eyes opened just enough to see anything, the shape of the clothing was in my mind transformed to some kind of an insane amalgamation of an axe murdering cannibal and batman. In that instant my mind just filled in all the necessary 'back story' to ensure i shit my bed. At that point in time i believed that who ever that was, has been watching me sleep and was going to dismember me in a fairly gory fashion. The worst part of the experience was the genuine terror i felt when i snapped to actually being alert and not being able to move for a second with fucking Freddy Kruger Batman staring me down like i was a free steak dinner. I was 14 at the time and even back then knew about what i had just experienced. It just stuck with me cause of how damn scary it really was.
