Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

Hmm. I live in Yorkshire, England so it definitely wasn't geckos... Could have been a spider I guess? Never heard a spider make that sound before though, and it was quite loud.

Yeah I think its when they are tapping something with their legs, like an insect caught in their web. I used it hear it a lot in an old house I lived in.

One night, when I was 15, I decided to walk to the park down the street from my house. It was about 2am, and I just couldn't sleep so I took a walk to the park. I arrived at the park, had a sit on a bench, and smoked a few cigs. I stayed down there for about 40 minutes, grew bored, and started walking back up to my house at about 2:45am. For whatever reason, I decided to look up at the night sky, where at that moment I saw a glowing dot similar to that of what the ISS looks like crossing the sky. Instead of crossing all the way across the sky though, this glowing dot simply appeared in the middle of the sky, flew quickly to the left by about 6 inches of view, and disappeared. This creeped me out a little bit, and I quickened my pace home. When I got home, I went to my room and watched TV for about an hour, and decided to climb into bed at 3am, and left my lights and TV on because I was still a little freaked out. I faced the wall and had my back to the TV so I didn't see as much light. This is where it gets weird. As soon as I'm in bed, my lights dim down and my TV turns off. My room begins to fill with bright green light from my window behind me, and begin to feel paralyzed. I literally cannot move, I just feel fear, and my mouth just hangs open as I stare at the wall. After what feels like about 15 seconds, the green light goes away, the lights in my room come back up, and my TV turns back on. I am no longer paralyzed with fear, and I spin around to see the clock on my wall now reads 4am.

To this day when I think about it, I still don't know what to say.

This sounds a lot like sleep paralysis especially since you already had seeing the weird object on your mind

Just read the story of the Solway Firth spaceman. Very odd.

To me it simply looks like a balding man with grey hair facing away from the camera.

My cousin was possesed. She would start speaking Chinese (hokkien) and act like a child. She would also frequently complain about feeling hot.

Ball lightning is a very, very common sighting among older people. Chances are, at least one of your grandparents saw such a thing when they were younger. Particularly if they lived in a rural area growing up.

It makes no sense that we wouldn't see it now then. I've never heard someone describe this to me directly. Do you seriously think it happened a lot more in the 1940's-1960's?

My grandfather theorizes that you don't see it as much now because the population has shot up dramatically. He was telling me that the area I live in was once dirt roads, had one town store, and was sparsely populated. It's the exact opposite now.

I think this might in fact be a possibility. I don't know if what I saw was ball lighting. Weird that it would happen inside a closed house. I wasn't sleepy or anything, so I saw it pretty clearly. I live in a very rural place. I really have no idea if that influences though. lol

A theory I've heard is that rural people simply had less lightning conductors surrounding them.

Cities have approximately 8000 billion towers, poles, lines and various other things that will attract lightning away from your house.

So in theory if you lived in a farmhouse with few lightning rods, the probability that your place could be struck and a gigantic ball of fire can come screaming out of the wall is higher.

I mean, look what happens when a car gets struck:

VOOM.

The first story with the baby creeped me out, although the end was disappointing. I didn't like the last story. Seemed silly from the beginning.

Yeah, I can understand that. I am pretty squeamish, though. I guess that's why it bothered me so much.

Anyway, I'd figure this thread would be more lively considering Halloween is only a few weeks away. Does anyone have any more stories to share? Or even some scary YT videos (no jump scares or screamers).

I was out at my parents house for dinner on Tuesday night, and let their two little dogs out to go to the bathroom.

Something catches my attention and I look up in the sky. I see what I think is a falling star, and then it changes color. It went from a bright blue, to a dark orange. Then the object starts changing directions, and going in reverse. I call my parents out to see what I'm seeing, and they spot the object for about 10 seconds, before it disappears.

I tried taking photos w/ my GS3, but I could never get a good enough shot of the object to make out the details. Then yesterday I see this report on the local news:

And these photos that show the detail that I was seeing:

This is not the first UFO that I have seen in this area of Southern IL. Back in 1997, on July 4th, a bright blue object flew right over our heads.

And on January 5, 2000, a giant, triangle shaped object made its way all around the Belleville, Illinois area:

One of the guys who visited with us recorded things on a recorder. I've bugged him to copy the tape for me, but he says he's uncomfortable with anybody listening to it. I'm working on him to get a copy, and if I do, I'll be happy to share it. Maybe I'll scan my journal entries from some of those nights one of these days, because they tell it better than I can now.

Please do - this is a fascinating account... nobody ever actually seems to present any evidence for these things so if you would spend an hour or so of your time to do so, it would be very much appreciated!

Edit: For example, rather than 'one of these days', since you've taken the time to tell us about it could you do it whenever you have a spare moment?

I've been in Alaska and haven't even talked to the guy. I just got back on Sunday, sorry bros.

Sooo, how's about it Jeff? :D

Isn't Scott Air Force Base in Belleville? I almost got stationed there.

This was one of the more interesting cases from the last show:

Nightcrawler

Night crawler second footage

Its the original case footage from the person they contacted, which he recorded off his security monitor (im sure most of that episode is on the website now). Whats so strange about it is the thing looks unnaturally skinny, and has a odd gait.

Has there ever been any new info about this one? I still think of it from time to time and I generally am able to disprove videos fairly easily, but had a hard time with this one. I have a theory about how it was hoaxed... but still curious if there was any new light on the situation. (This is the only thread I found discussing it! Needed a bump dammit.)

It looks like he's just standing still and then starts walking towards the camera like someone said "action!".

The government did study those things. Why that legitimizes it to anyone, I don't know. There are plenty of studies and information that quite clearly demonstrate ESP and remote viewing do not work. Do you know who Banachek is? Look him up.

Anyone falling back on the "you have to have an open mind! defense lacks real evidence. If these people produce the evidence, they can win Randi's million dollars for one and two make themselves very famous. Why don't they do it?

There is an author and biologist Lyle Watson he wrote a book Supernature - mos def worth a read if you like freaky stuff.

I love this thread.

Can't say much has happened to me paranormally. There was this one instance, however, quite a few years back. It was a little while after the Wii came out; I was at my grandma's house and was setting it up in the lower level of her bi-level home. I put the sensor bar on top of the TV and knelt down to plug stuff in. I stood up and the sensor bar just.. threw itself off the TV and into the side of her fireplace like 5 feet from the TV. I was the only person/thing near the TV and it seems I was the only person in the room to notice. Not too scary, but I can't explain how it could have happened.

I wouldn't describe an avalanche (by far the most likely explanation) creepy?

Sure, avalanche is the most plausible explanation. But the mind races when thinking about the oddities in the case.

I think he means the radiation found in their clothes. Which brings a question to mind:

Why the hell would they even think to measure radiation levels? How would it be helpful?

Because they knew more than they said they knew.
