Crystal Dynamics has announced it is now developing the next TOMB RAIDER

Give me OG Lara back. Twin shooters shorts and tanktop with an attitude.

No more "I can do this" chick.

Serious puzzles in somewhere like ancient Egypt and levels like "the cistern" and I will buy that shit immediately.

I loved the original reboot game.

Rise kind of sucked.

Shadow was great besides the horrendous story.

Put the best parts of all three together with a good story and you probably have a very good game to be fair.

I think Underworld might've been potentially the best one. If it didn't feel so unfinished and didn't end so abruptly. Some levels absolutely scratched that TR1 itch in complexity. I really liked it though.

And Legend while short was excellent for replays. One of my first 360 games. I liked the vibe that game had.

I don't mind the new gameplay style (although more tombs and egypt would be my preference)....

But I really do miss OG Lara. I hope we have a more grown up lara closer to the original

Nice! I just got my plat on Rise of the TombRaider. It'd be cool to see what the set pieces look like and what Crystal can do with Unreal 5.
Love to see this level of details in Tombs:

:messenger_tears_of_joy: 3 months ago in this thread I asked for the next game to "ditch Jonah and the other friend zone chumps, and bring back Lara's quips and bad ass attitude" and in reply comes this...

"Lara struggles with loneliness. She will work with a group of fellow raiders who look up to her".

You have to laugh!

Brace yourself for the biggest disappointment of your life. Nothing in the last games points to this direction. They'll double down the Assassin's Creed Lara. Dialog options and tribal fights in dense vegetation incoming.

Ancient Tombs are very lonely places for a single woman in her 30s. What she would prefer is a pal to talk about make-up and k-pop with to ease the unrelenting tedium of uncovering ancient cultures, horrific monsters, gods, and magic.

Lara single bitter mom in her 30s on a quest with her cat to find the best boxed red wine :pie_roffles:

Well, she ditched her friends, and is now struggling with loneliness. Poor gal. 😞

Seriously though I want the same thing. I'm surprised they still don't get what fans want. They were so close with Shadow to be honest, there is so much solitary adventuring there, lots of tombs, and puzzles and all. But they had the stupid Crash Bandicoot sections with insta death I absolutely hate, and they still try to make her so emotional. The spicy attitude is all gone.

CD need to go back to the roots, rewatch the Indiana Jones movies, then replay Tomb Raider 1, then rewatch Angelina Jolie's Tomb Raider.
That'll get them a good foundation.
They can even go back and play their own earlier games. And the Dagger of Xian demo.
All the ingredients are there.

If they make classic/adult Lara an insecure problematic character that needs the help of her fellow non standard characters I'm done with the series and Square did the right thing in getting rid of them :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I'd rather play this than whatever bullshit they're cooking up:

If that leak is real then it sounds like shit. I barely had any interest in that recent reboot series because of the direction they took with it so if now they're gonna go even further in that direction then good fucking luck but I ain't playing it, lol.

How about just making the game FUN, yeah? So fucking tired of all this mopey and depressive shit. It's like these idiot writers think that in order to be good, there also need to be menyal trauma or some shit.

Whatever happened to hope? The firm belief that good would conquer evil? Heroes with confidence and self esteem enough to crack a joke now and then.

Lara used to be cool and someone to love spending time with, now she's a whiny bore it's easy to hate.

Why do so many people just insist on destroying our heroes in this day and age? Turn them into a fucking joke like in Star Wars. Subvert expectations or some infantile horseshit like that.

Can you imagine the glorious things we'd enjoy if the creators of the 80s and 90s had had the tools we have today? The insane glorious things we'd see?

Times have changed, and not for the better.

I just wanted the new TR to be like the original games. How hard can it be to make a good exploration game with puzzles to solve...

Confused Harry Potter GIF

Please don't be like the last trilogy, bring back the strong Lara with exploration/puzzles and no fucking crafting/survival.

As said upper, make the game FUN as before.

The fans of the series want the OG badass female heroine back, I do not understand why they don't just do this. We are literally begging for a strong female character and they refuse to deliver.

+1 I don't have a problem if they include a sidekick (opens up co-op campaign possibilities and can be good for puzzles), but Laura needs to be a confident kick-ass type. We need the Indiana Jones type one-liners back.

Yup!

I get their thinking in the first reboot game, there she was essentially a teenager, it made sense to make her insecure and voulnerable.

At least from the start.

But by the time the game was finished she had killed hundreds of people and been crawling among corpses, yet they just kept going and even in Shadow of the Tomb Raider she was this emotional wreck Jonah had to comfort.

Made her seem weak.

They had three games to transform her but they never made her the confident, powerful, sexy, badass action hero she used to be.

I still enjoy the games a ton, Shadow had sections that was absolutely phenomenal, Rise as well, I like the metroidvania hub-like levels there with gear unlocks, but I hope CD can go back to the roots for the next game and turn her into the action hero she used to be.

I want a veteran Lara in her 40s with killer hamstrings and glutes. Give her a couple streaks of gray in her hair and freckles on her chest.
Careful now so they don't do like Housemarque 🫣

But you're kinda on point there, western studios usually shave off all curves on female characters now and make them skinny. That only show that they're so incredibly out of touch. I mean everyone builds booty, thighs and hips nowdays. They don't even try to hide it. It's the number one focus on the gym for women. So if CD want to make Lara fly with the new generation they need to adapt and make Lara… "thicc" 👍

Selene is much closer to the original Lara than whatever the new Lara is supposed to be.

No, thank you. They are going to make Lara all ugly and butter face. Her character model in the Definitive Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider are unattractive in the latest iterations. They literally hit her with a woke bat.

In what way?
I don't know. Going around in space by herself being all badass responding to distress signals, landing on unexplored planets like it's her side job and discovering all that shit and not screaming like a little bitch every time a bee stings. No quick-time events, no torture porn, no bland sidekicks.

I'd say Selene is more like Samus Aran, but not nearly as cool or pretty and without a badass attitude. She's a bland main character imo.

Reboot Lara is bland too but she's at least pretty, at times.

Really liked the last trilogy, even if I think they could've done more with the third game, so I'm curious about what they'll do next.
