Why didn't Microsoft ship enough Xboxes for the Holiday shopping season? This is crazy.

They gave up on hardware.
They have always been traditionally aggressive with deals during the holiday season, the fact they gave up is just further proof they don't see the console hardware business as a priority anymore. It's just one of the many platforms to play their games, like they're telling in the latest marketing campaign.

They don’t care. Their goal is to be a software house releasing 4+ AAA per year. FTC still hounding them as long term its future acquisitions, and invasion of all ecosystems. The end goal is subs with hardware from msft approved oem, Nintendo, Sony and other companies.

My only msft question is does gamepass fully pay for msft games ? aka release equals pure profit.

Consoles will only exist to add gp users/msft ecosystem members (bc).

The PS5 Slim Digital is $20 cheaper ($379) than the white digital only Series X ($399). I'm sure that will help their market share.

Yes it's definitely because Microsoft isn't making enough of them.
Yes, They definitely aren't available at every single retailer besides Amazon right now.
Yes, if Microsoft had only made more console they would easily be in the top 5 on Amazon.
No, Microsoft definitely hasn't given consumers 0 reasons to buy their hardware.
No, Xbox definitely didn't drive half of their studios and IPs into the ground.
No, Microsoft's marketing hasn't been some of the worst marketing we've ever seen in gaming and definitely aren't actively hurting their sales by saying that literally everything is an Xbox.
No, Microsoft haven't given up.

Never said it would be in the top 5 but not having anything to sell at the biggest shopping time of the year is beyond crazy.

Not having anything to sell is obviously false as other retailers have stock both in store and online. Sure I will give you the fact that if Amazon had them for sale right now they would obviously be higher then #293 or whatever it was but stock is not the reason why Xbox's aren't selling.

I am curious how Amazon doesn't have any stock while Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and Gamestop all do.

Why over ship a product that's not selling?

Not even the S is in the top 100 (US) and that's there cheap option.

Usually Xbox has really good holiday sales. Feels like this year they are doing the bare minimal.
Yeah, I find it off that the only sale they have is $50 of their digital consoles only as far as I can tell.

You'd think that if your console aren't selling at normal price you would have a big opportunity to be like "Best selling console of holiday season" by putting big sales on your consoles. Didn't we have like $350 Series X last year? Now we have $400 Digital Series X which is still $25 more then the PS5.

If you wanted to fight back you'd want to give people reasons to buy your product, and if you were going to throw in the towel you'd want to get rid of as much stock as possible so it's really weird that they just didn't bother.

Completely Unreasonable
Am I misunderstanding this - it's the best seller because they've sold out of new ones, right? Or rather Amazon won't guarantee you a series S before 30th December. How come they don't have more on hand?

I think they sort of gave up. The Series is there, and thats it. They're not even promoting it up front. They obviously shifted their focus.

People are still trying to convince themselves that Xbox isn't done with hardware. They're just keeping up appearances (badly) so they can offload their remaining inventory before attempting to transition to being a hardware agnostic service just like the rest of their corporation.

Again, like with UK we'll see how long it actually lasts.

I remember 2022 when Xbox supposedly won Black Friday, yet still got outsold by PS5 for the month. Very likely that repeats here; if they can get a PR win for Black Friday, Microsoft will pump the stock because it's probably the one holiday SIE and Nintendo won't care as much to prioritize when Christmas is right around the corner.

And, considering, MS know they definitely can't win the Christmas shopping period, so they'll settle for Black Friday in US & UK. Maybe get Phil a green turkey to celebrate.

EDIT: Damnit O onQ123 you actually got me. Damnit!! 🤣🤣🤣

The only thing they won is trash legacy media saying Xbox won Black Friday, meanwhile real data always show them behind 😁

OP: Eddie Griffin

Dang where's that dude been? Always had a hateboner for classic SEGA.

Anyway....yeah legacy/MSM were puffing up the BF sales for Xbox, but it always came to bite them in the ass.

Once the NPD sales leak hit, became really clear why MS stopped boasting about NA console sales after that Spring.
