Cyberpunk 2077 launches April 16, 2020 - Keanu Reeves Announced

So in the new trailer they killed Jackie, the partner who was introduced last year. Did they do this to bring in Keanu's character as a new partner ?

With a game that seems to offer so much choice, I'm hoping we can still keep him alive, he seemed like a pretty cool character.

I wouldn't read too much into it in terms of Jackie fate. I think the trailer started with a different outcome from where the last E3 trailer left off, plus they threw in some cinematic aspects also, like you having the blade arms for instance. I'm pretty sure you don't start with those, and they only featured them early last year to demonstrate some options during the combat sequences in the demo.

It may be that you end up getting betrayed somehow, but invariably you might meet Keanu through various means. Apparently, he's Johnny Silverhand who is a lore character from the original P&P RPG: -

I believe this year's cinematic trailer was to showcase possible consequences of choices players make. Last year's demo ended with V and Jackie handing the Maelstrom gang over to the corporate agent and making their way to rendezvous with Dex to deliver the acquired "Flathead" spider bot. The commentator noted how that mission could've gone differently in several ways. For example, what if the player never contacted the corporate agent or told Royce what she was planning with the infected credit chip?

I think they are going to show us again the whole E3 demo maybe at like Gamescom and heres why...

If you listen to the people who saw the behind the doors demo of this years E3 then listen closely and watch this:

These scenes were the ones we saw at the MS presser and theyre exactly from what the people in the interviews are talking about.

it looks like those scenes were from the gameplay demo they showcased.

Doenst mean they have to show it but it would seem likely.

Just saw they taking pre orders for Collectors and Day One Edition here in Australia. They want $429 for the Collectors Edition which is about $300 USD. That's crazy!!

With both next gen consoles supporting backwards compatibility I don't think we'll see remasters like we did this gen.

But there will still be remasters. There is too much money to be made. If you think Sony, Rockstar, CDPR, or any other publisher is just gonna release games for current gen and leave it at that then you're in for a shock.

Rockstar made a fortune forcing people to double dip with GTA V on PS4/xb1. Sony done well with the PS4 version of TLOU.

What I expect will happen is this... I'll use cyberpunk as an example.

Game releases on PS4/xb1. You buy it and you can keep playing on ps5/xb2. The game won't look or run any better though unless the studio releases an update to make use of the new hardware. Just like pro/X consoles...

Except now these updates will require purchase. I know they said they will never charge for patches but It won't be a patch you download. These updates will be in the store just like any DLC content.

They ain't gonna get away with selling you Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 when you are already playing Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5. So they'll sell you an optional "Assets + Performance pack" that requires money. There will probably be a new category in the stores for these kinds of updates.

People won't be too mad about it because they can still play the game. It was different this gen because people felt ripped off buying games on PS3 and then a better version was released on next gen. They don't need to buy 2 versions of the game anymore. If you buy it on PS4 you play it on PS5. You're just paying for the higher quality graphics/performance.

That said I guess if there is any studio that doesn't charge it'll be CDPR. I know we all like them for being the "good guys" but they are still just out to make money. I love CDPR but the "good guys" act is just all marketing/pr.

I dont know, the graphics in that 10 second snippet dont look that great, looks worse than Witcher 3 tbh
Well,I'm going to say it based on the fact you want the graphics compared to a PS4 exclusive.I'll be straight with you.The game is beautiful, the vegetation is stunning to look, especially when combined with the lighting, but, there are a few textures that are just ugly.My advice : don't look at objects upclose, because the game in it's entirety is breath-taking and you'll catch yourself just staring at the sunset and locations(especially in Toussaint),so,looking at bad textures is kind of a bummer. But you gotta give it to the fact that the game is multi-platform and Horizon Zero Dawn is an exclusive,so,bad textures are a rarity in it.This is clearly seen in Uncharted 4.Graphically speaking,it has the most realistic graphics I've ever seen in my life, but,The Witcher 3 has a lot more beautiful landscapes, cities, villages, and, what it has of bad textures is completely compensated a lot by how everything else is so well made and beautiful.(Note : you won't see those bad textures oftenly,so,I suggest you to just ignore the feel times you'll find them.Trust me,this game is so worth picking.I suggest you to turn the minimap off and pay attention to your surroundings, especially to the beautiful views you'll see when riding Roach.)

Tag, you're it.

Potential spoiler for mid game:

you won't have sex with Keanu because he's dead, and what you see is just an hologram:

adding my youtube comment as a relevant reply:

i don't think that chip contained what they thought it was, but a more protected secret (that could endanger the control system & hierarchy in authority & power structure in the city): possibly a backup memory bank of Johnny Silverhand's Mind, seen as a hologram only, to the user (to his cyberbrain). Maybe Jackie found the wrong USB and gave him (that's why he says "i'm sorry") what he could scavenge, instead of what they were really looking for to Dexter (supplier)?

Personally really liked the High/Low chaos & "Lethal/Non-Lethal" options that were added to the game's possible narrative/quest modifiers!

One more thing:
I consider all the 3 trailers could actually show us different Character Classes or examples of play-types (Cop in first, Fixer in second, Solo type in this 3rd one) and even perhaps alternate story introductory beginnings? kinda like Alternative Starts mod in Skyrim (that's a far fetched hypothesis though).

i wonder how much intertwined will the quests be (if it can even be comparable with The Witcher 3) with one another, or with the end-game conclusions?

This game looks AMAZING. I’m completely sold, so I’ve already got in my pre-order for the Collector’s Edition. I can’t wait for April. Hopefully it doesn’t get delayed.

I don't think so.. The whole point of the next gen console is too have the same game whether you buy it as PS5, be able to be inserted and played in the PS4 and vice versa. I guarantee if you buy Cyberpunk on PS4 and then buy a PS5 later, that the game will be able to be inserted and played like normal in PS5 with all the benefits, there may be an update but there is no way they will charge, people would run riot!

I just can't see you purchasing Cyberpunk in April, the new console releasing a few months later and as a loyal fan buying the new console and they slapping you in the face with additional price just to continue playing on your new console. If they making you play it on PS5 downgraded to PS4 specs then it defeats the purpose of buying the new console in the first place.. It makes no sense. Remember, these two gens are very different to the previous gens, the architecture is similar.. No different to say upgrading your PC.

Edit: I'm only talking about the newer games in development now at the end of the console's life intended to run on PS5 hardware.

There isn’t much The Witcher 4 news to go on, but let’s start on a positive. Despite what we were told even before the game released, we may not have seen the end of The Withcher 3 s protagonist Geralt. “We are not killing the world and walking away from it,” Iwinski said to Polygon during a 2013 tech demo, “but we will definitely want to make this game the finale in a big way.” Tantalisingly, he added: “we might even include Geralt in later games, potentially.” Any more of the White Wolf is a win in our book.

The posters are holy fuck good. I need them in good quality and not as a photo, so I can print them. Shit, here I go begging CDPR on twitter.

CDPR's art team is talented beyond belief. Their creativity, originality, sense of style and eye for composition are all top notch.

That artbook in the Collector's Edition's going to be spectacular.

Those posters are incredible - like something you'd see up on Etsy selling for a mint. Wonder if CDPR will ever release on their store :pie_thinking:

I'm so in love with the artstyle and setting. Witcher wasn't my thing in terms of that but this hits bullseye for me.

Great interview with the Quest Director of Cyberpunk. Sadly, as he explains - they took out the option to choose your childhood hero and instead went with the Lifepath system. So Keanu-Silverhand is now the only "idol" you can have.

nothing sells like GTA, not even The Witcher or Cyberpunk. GTA is just a game like, that everyone knows and plays. Its kind of a phenomenon.

Cyberpunk will easily be game of the year probably next year though with 20+ mil sales

Cyberpunk will beat GTA just you wait and see. Cyberpunk 2 will be the most hyped and best selling game of all-time. bookmark this.

Unpopular opinion: I'm not happy Keanu is in it.
Don't get me wrong, I like him a lot, I think he's a good actor and a super cool person. So, yeah, he's awesome. But as a general rule, I really dislike having famous actors in games, they detract from the experience. And having him in the game will break my suspension of disbelief and immersion.

It'll probably beat Bully and RDR, but GTA? I really don't think so.

Just out of curiosity, is Carpenter Brut also helping with the soundtrack?
It'd be a no brainier but haven't heard anything. I know Perturbator said he was in contact with the devs. From this recent gameplay at E3 someone said they saw a M83 song, so that's cool.

Yeah! I was kinda curious if CD Projekt were kinda getting in contact with some of the Synthwave/Darkwave artists. Can't wait for the next gameplay video!
