CYberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition announced to Mac releases July 17

this guy is running it on a m1 Mac @ 1800p getting 50 - 70 fps. that was pretty surprising that it runs at all. I will test it out on a m3 pro, but im super busy next week so maybe two weekdays from now.

I kind of want to get it on Mac to test the difference between my M1 MacBook Pro vs my M4 Pro MacBook Pro.

Edit: My GOG version was showing as incompatible with my Mac, but GOG Galaxy let me install it after all. Nice!

You can get 60fps in cyberpunk with a 1050ti, a 980 is faster than that. Keep in mind the 1060 was over twice as fast in games than the PS4 and the 980 is faster.
We don't have to speculate anymore. Running well on M1s. M3/M4 Pro/Max should run the game well. Especially the ones with dedicated RT hardware.

This is why I'm not a huge fan of those lying official promoters "M4 Max is getting 120 fps on ultra.."

Hmmm let's see ...oh is that 36 fps I see with not RT at all?

WHERE IS THE PRO PATCH YOU MOTHERFUCKERS

It was on PC when it launched in 2020. Then PC got the PS6 Pro patch with Cyberpunk Overdrive.

This guy is running a bunch of benchmarks at different settings. Not really impressive for a $4000 device.

These chips are designed and tuned for workflows like Logic/Photoshop/Final cut which they excel at. Gaming on these machines is just an extra. It's cool everyone gets some gaming on the side now that owns one otherwise. No one in their right mind is buying these for gaming.

I'm not disputing that. Different priorities and all that. It's just weird to me that people seem so impressed with its performance on Mac hailing that it's running 120 FPS on Ultra as if that's somehow amazing considering the price of the device. And that's with no RT on.

I get what you're saying. I agree for the price you should, by default, expect that or better.

I think people are a bit excited because Macs have never been near this level before with gaming, even with $4000+ pro machines in the past. Also the fact that an ARM laptop is getting this kind of performance, even when factoring in the price, is impressive because there's no other ARM chip machines out there like this.

If Apple decides to put their weight behind a DLSS type scaling solution, whew. Gonna get pretty interesting.
Apple have their own AI scaling for years now (Metal FX upscaling). In the next os they will bring frame gen and denoising (for Raytracing and pathtracing) too

There are some things that are impressive about it. I am impressed that performance is the same whether it's plugged in or not. Gaming laptops don't run at full power unless plugged in but Macs can. I've yet to see someone do a battery test with the game running but if it can do 2+ hours on Ultra at 120 FPS, that would actually be amazing.

kinda ridiculous they are willing to do a mac version but won't give ps5 pro users a patch
If they did offer a patch how much would you be willing to pay for it?

Mac version is 59.99, but that's comes with dlc I think (checking….) $83 for the ultimate edition looks like!

They can do this shit but not a PS5 Pro patch? Pathetic.

I once again wonder what you guys think a Pro patch could do that isn't already done through running it on the Pro as is...
it already runs smoother and the dynamic resolution stays higher.

all they could realistically do is use PSSR instead of FSR2, but who knows if that would actually look better or give enough of an image quality uplift to make it worth implementing it.
additional raytracing could work on the GPU side of things, but might run into bottlenecks on the barely upgraded CPU and the barely upgraded VRAM.

and all of this would mean they would need to bring their current project into a more recent version of Sony's dev kit, which would require a lot of additional QA as it could break parts of the code.
