Interesting how every review overlooked that the game is unfinished for a launch and gave scores like it is a playable experience lol

I’m not sure what “journos” were thinking hiding that “small” matter on the game.

Don't know what reviews have you read, I've read plenty of them and all of them (the 10/10 or the 7/10) mention bugs and glitches plaguing the game.
Also, sort of fun, I'm 6 hours into the game and have encountered less bugs and glitches than what was mentioned in the reviews.

So, unless you're speaking of the console versions (which weren't reviewed until after launch), really have no idea what you're referring to.

I see a possible PR disaster looming.

Hey, maybe CD Projekt Red will offer the first expansion for free, to try and win past-gen console gamers back.

Something seems to have gone terribly wrong with past-gen console versions of the game.

They developed the game for 7 years, they knew what they were making for base consoles. They just didn't compromise or design the game around them at all.

I think a major disservice was done by a multitude of groups in regards to the launch of this game:

  • CD Projekt Red for hiding console footage and reviews
  • Journalists for rewarding an incomplete launch
  • Sony and Microsoft for allowing BULLSHIT misleading juiced-up PC footage onto their console stores

Heard that if you turn off filmgrain and some other stuff, it's way better.
I've turned off filmgrain and it helped a little

But itss till blurry as fuck

Variable 720p + TAA would make any game look blurry. Here its much worse because the game's atmosphere is foggy and has A LOT of volumetric lighting.

It's such a shame they released the game in this state. Because underneath the mess is a great game. But I don't see the gaming community as a whole talking about the actual game itself for the foreseeable future. All discussions surrounding this game are going to be about the bugs and performance, and it's probably going to be that way for a while.

I believe two years from now after bugs have been squashed, next gen versions are out, quality of life changes, features being added, and DLC, Cyberpunk is going to be a vastly improved experience than it is now. But as of right now it's like a juicy 52 oz porterhouse steak, someone just took a giant shit on.

And it didn't need to be this way. All it took was for management to have more realistic expectations and have not pushed the release date for this game. It should have come out at least 6 months from now. What could have been an amazing experience for the gaming community to come together to cap off this shitstain of year, has turned into an absolute fucking mess thanks to greedy dick heads wanting money NOW than later.

I'm sure there will be A LOT things for free from CDPR after console's disaster. It's gonna be simply fighting to recover a reputation. Feel bad for the devs, game is fantastic. It's a fault of 2-3 people who decided to not delay it, or cancel old console's version.

You are gassing it (unless you are playing on last-gen consoles). This game is great for Next-Gen and PC. Its just last-gen thats suffering

I'm not gassing it. Even people on next-gen and the PC are complaining about bugs. It's just base console players that are really getting the shaft.

Earlier on there were some insinuations that I took to mean the people criticizing GameSpot - The Quartering - were being deliberately silent regarding the past-gen console versions of Cyberpunk 2077.

Cough, cough.

They developed the game for 7 years, they knew what they were making for base consoles. They just didn't compromise or design the game around them at all.

The game has not been in development for 7 years. The game
begun development mid 2016, which roughly translates to 4 and a half years in development. Before they were in pre-production.

That, of course, doesn't nullify the apparent mismanagement problems the game has suffered from.

Maybe you know how the decision to release the past-gen console versions alongside current gen was reached. Maybe you know who took the decision and what was involved, the financial implications and contractual obligations. Maybe you know the financial state CDPR are in.

To me some of that is privileged information I don't have access to. Someone at the top made a call. Mistakes appear to have been made regarding QA and past-gen console versions.

This seems to be snowballing, but I could be wrong.
If it snowballs, they need to regain the PR initiative.
They learned from the Downgrade debacle, hopefully they can learn and rectify The Situation.

It’s at 90 MC now btw, wouldn’t be surprised if it drops to high 80s, they are also really lucky the console reviews won’t be added to PC.

The bugs on PC and next-gen are minor. Nothing like what you described. You said someone took a shit on the game. That isn't gassing it?

Only last-gen players are getting shitted on but Im on XSX and haven't seen one bug personally

It's clear this game's foundation easily outstripped it's PS4/Xbox One roots. The PS4/Xbox One versions of this game look like it's running on a crappy laptop. Thing is, I honestly don't think developers care that much. Probably cause there's not much else they can do. This game is far from finished and the actual vision for this game will only be brought to light on PC/PS5/Series X. Last generation consoles will be left in the dust. Hopefully it will be fully realized sometime next year. In the meantime it's gonna be nothing but fat patches. DLC to save the day?

On fucking point. Every console copy of this game must be fully refundable.

Every review of the game must have a disclaimer stating that the console versions are trash and that anyone who wnats to buy the game on console should not bother.

CD Project should go on everyone major publication's blacklist for poor advertising for how they have treated console owners.

They should've cancelled the console versions when the next gen consoles were announced and focused on offering the best versions of the game for the next gen audience only. They deserve a lawsuit.

I stand by my statement man. I'm playing on the PC and I'm running into bugs at least once every 5 to 10 minutes. I already had two game breaking bugs.

Dude if you want to defend the game to your heart's content go ahead, I don't care. I'm loving the game too. But I stand by my statement . This game was not ready for any platform, by any stretch of the imagination.

It's absolutely piss poor project management, considering they wanted to release in April.

Having a high target in scope and technology is fine. But they clearly had no idea how to actually do it practically around existing hardware and still blazed on.

Mmmm. One would imagine they wanted to do a GTA5 and release a game right at the end of a console cycle *and then* and updated next gen version a bit later and get people to double dip. Only it slipped.

Old-gen is full of bugs.

It is basically a shame even today accept games in that state... when I blamed FFXV and people accept it with "sales" it give the reply the gaming industry wanted.

Devs can do what they want that everything will praise them with 10/10.

If that was the plan they are insane. Base console versions are and can never be anywhere near their target footage.

The fact that they actually sold investors on that is pretty crazy. Wonder how those meetings went. But they'll still get bailed out by PC and next gen sales.

Since the game is actually good with the right hardware I imagine there won't be any repercussions for them. They are too loved to fail.

Finally, piece of shit consoles arent holding a games design and scope back. Fucking plastic turds
What's the point in designing a game that 99.9% of the population can't play properly? Anybody can do that. That's not pushing game design. Even on PC, an RTX 3090 can barely manage 22 FPS at maximum settings.

The whole point of game design is to work within the limitations of the hardware and your resources to deliver a working product on every platform you are selling it on. .If it can't run on console, don't sell it. Period.

I'm glad you have the hardware to play this game the way it was intended but the rest of us will have to wait for 2077.

It can run on console. Just not console that came out in 2013

I've been watching Shroud and CohhCarnage play for hours and I can count on my hands the amount of bugs i've seen. Stop lying with this "full of bugs". Skyrim was way more buggier than this

Yup. It's about their shares dropping. I'm sure they will fix most of problems, but low scores from console versions reviews will have some huge impact. They need time, i believe they will manage somehow, really talented and devoted people here. Feel sad for them and for console players both. :messenger_frowning_

After playing the game on PC all I can say is that's it definitely no 10/10. That's not even counting the bugs. I don't know where these scores are coming from. With the bugs it's even worse. It's not a bad game, but it's probably one of the most unpolished AAA titles that I've ever played. Handing and 10/10 to such games give all the wrong signals to the gaming industry.

And then we have all the secresy. Refusing to send out review codes for last gen consoles. Not letting journalists use their own gameplay footage of early reviews, and so on. It's shady at best.

Mmmh, what's that smell? That sweet fragrance of a giga budget game made for high end PCs first and foremost.

I appreciate the sheer audacity, but it will cost them dearly. Restricting review codes to PC was absolutely the right move though, even if it drew scrutiny. Gotta farm those 90s before it all comes crashing down.

I'm honestly surprised the bugs didn't affect reviews more than they have.

ugh. giant bomb talks about enemy npcs repeating the same 2 lines..to the point where it's annoying to do stealth because they just repeat the same lines

on open-world interactivity:
- go up and hit talk on random npcs and they'll just repeat "hey what are u looking at" basic stuff
- no real consequence to side activities: like the side activity for helping the cops, once u do all those rinses and repeat missions, it's just like "u built ur street cred" pretty lame
- not sure what pc build they use, but driving frame rate tanks. motor cycle little better
- no engaging side quests like no bloody baaron

Do they even like video games anymore?

this game is incredible (playing on series x quality mode)

the vertical scale and density is amazing. textures are weak though. very addictive so far with nice quick side missions. good dialogue so far

i have had bugs but they been funny rather than game breaking so can live with it

It's shocking.
I think they tried to hide it too.

I feel bad, and angry, for people who bought the PS4 version to play on their PS4 but didn't know they were getting this.

I got The Witcher 3 on Switch. I intended to play it handheld only and so some performance issues was expected and I was fine with that. At least I knew what I was getting into.

This shit? They basically hid the truth about base consoles until after launch. Not cool.

"Cyberpunk 2077 is a potential Game of the Year candidate "

And score.... 7/10 :messenger_grinning_sweat::messenger_grinning_sweat::messenger_grinning_sweat:

The same site gave Valhalla 9/10 and Watch Dogs: Legion 8/10.

Metacritic/Opencritic should require some IQ tests from reviewers... Sad thing is, sometimes it's not worth to be original and ambitious, just make copy/paste Ubisoft shit and it'll pay off.

lol dude....what kind of corrupt shit is going on in the industry right now?

is Ubisoft in be with some journalists or something?

starting to feel like I may need to step away from gaming soon, if they keep giving more credit to mediocre titles....and titles like this that actually try to push things forward they...conspire against in some way. it's really odd.

Perhaps he gives that score due the unfinished state of the game? I mean there so many critical bugs that it should take 1-2 points from the score.

Compared with that the Valhalla and Watch Dogs bugs are very minor.

From now I'm siding with the lower scores (that doesn't talk about trans) than the 10 ones... the 10s are clear a joke from the reviewers.

valhalla isn't even close to the same level of game though, that's what should matter the most. you shouldn't even PLAY valhalla bc it's not even an....inspired thing.

this is acting as if these games remotely compete...

I know you're trying to say that this review is terrible, but I actually think the logic you've pointed out as flawed is, in fact, solid. The game IS a potential game of the year candidate, but not in its current state across various platforms. It's a stunning world with deep gameplay and lots of content, but the bugs kill it, so it's a 7/10 with the potential to be GOTY. I don't see the problem with the conclusion of the review?

because it'll stay that way. a 7 out of 10. affects the metacritic

there are completely useless games that have no bugs, that are uninspired and dont do anything to push the industry forward. that review is basically saying you should play those games instead lol

those games are...better because of lack of bugs?

My original thinking of PC Meta 90 and Console Meta 70s seems to be coming true (I'd say the console versions will be lucky af to hit 70 meta though!).

Definitely a game that shines on the newer things.

The way I see it, consoles are like PCs now in that if you want to play games well, you have to keep somewhat up to date. I see the bare minimum PS4 as the Pro as of now, and it plays ok on Pro - 2012 PCs aren't running this game very good either, but consoles aren't used to the upgrade process that seems to be required now. Sidenote: I own all the consoles and a PC, and love them all equally, no PC master race vibe here.

PC is full of bugs.

Bugs, for me, only matter if they meaningfully impact gameplay. The few I've encountered are either silly (one or two t-posing NPCs, physics doing strange things when you bump movable objects) or slightly annoying (one conversation in the bar tanks the framerate). I am more than willing to overlook these, especially knowing the chances they wind up patched out is 100%. They simply don't detract from the experience for me.

In my mind, you bet your sweet aspercreme it's 10/10.

Expecting 7-year-old consoles to run a game like Cyberpunk well is completely unreasonable. FFS, the launch Xbox One tops out at 900p/30 fps.

TheQuartering and Kallie Plagge: they're both toxic as hell. I just can't distinguish who is who and which side is which. All in all, resultas are basically the same: no questions are allowed, and a knack for hypocrital behavior, with each side saying that they do not stimulate cancelling and harrasment, but they do.

Onto the game: 3 hours in, a lot of bugs like flying car and jackie having two hashis, one pair in his hands, while the other stayed floating in the air. Luckly, no major bug while hell break's loose in a fire fight. So... In my short experience, the moments that matterd the most the game just worked. Outside... well... glicthes.
Personally, not immersion breaking thing, but I do understand when people complain that those kind of silly bugs take the immersion. Basically you paid top dollar for a not finished product. I get that.

To me, the one thing that CDPR fucks up every single time is having bugs while fighting bosses. Unfortunately, I didn't encounter any boss fight yet, so... no major complain about the game. Is this state, for me, is playable.

Also, luckly, my 1060 can run this game at about medium, in a really stable 45 fps. Not perfect, but I thought my gpu would melt steel and fry frozen food. So far... so good enough. Now, I'm just wondering if there's any configuration that will help me get more fps from the game!

So as somebody who can play the game without any hardware issues I am so very unimpressed. It feels mostly like Fallout 4 with a prettier skin. I've run into numerous game-restarting bugs and I frequently find myself almost nodding to sleep during longwinded talking segments where so very little gaming interaction actually occurs.

The graphics are amazing maxed out but that's where all the compliments stop, I hope my opinion changes. The best way I can explain it, I'm still waiting for the part where this game becomes fun.
