Well they're getting free advertising so already this venture has proved to be a success.
As someone who works in advertising, bad publicity is a terrible idea. I know people spout that old adage, but it's really not true and highly circumstantial. In the case of this restaurant/bar, you'd have tons of people posting false Yelp reviews, peppering their social media accounts, and generally shit talking them to friends. None of that is going to equal business.
And it's not like there's a continuous "thing" for people to see like that Amy Whatever Bakery where the owners were consistently crazy and put on a showcase for people who happened to stop in. Like, they drew attention to themselves, but it's not the kind that is going to equal business.
