D23: The Incredibles 2 new info

The rainforest in the original looks rough by now. A lot of the rest of the movie holds up better.

Anyway, I was hoping for a time skip so that the kids would have grown up a little and gained some experience and confidence. Elastigirl as the protagonist is a nice surprise, however.

Sure.

I disagree with the idea that it somehow looks "like shit."

Because it doesn't look like shit.

It just looks like older computer animation.

It doesn't look bad at all.

Especially compared to the other CG animated movie that came out at the same time, Polar Express.

THAT movie looks like shit. Hell, I worked at a theater when they were both out at the same time and it looked like hot garbage even then. Walking from one screen into the other and seeing the quality difference was crazy.

The Jack Jack bit is stupid considering what happened at the end of the first movie.

They make it very clear they cannot tell Jack Jack is manifesting powers when Syndrome has him, so we are to assuming the nanny short is not canon.

In Brad Bird I trust. Can't wait for this. The first trailer should be before CoCo in November. I'm all in for an Elasticgirl focus. She's awesome.

I'm on board with whatever Brad Bird cooks up.

I wouldn't say crap but each year the movie looks worse. The designs are phenomenal but the technology of the time is holding it back from being a timeless classic visually.

IMO Ratatouille is the first Pixar movie that stands the test of time visually.

Incredibles, yeah no.

What the hell are they wearing, cellophane? Even back when it came out there were bits that looked really odd, like when they were all wet in the ocean. There are visual effects that this movie doesn't have that are standard in video games these days, that's how dated it is.

Like that Elastigirl is said to be the main character. Really looking forward to this.

Also saying that a CGI animated movie doesn't hold-up visually in a lot of places isn't much of a complaint if you ask me, since that's to be expected.

It's canon. Why wouldn't it be? The only thing that's weird is that the Agent never mentions Jack Jack's powers to Bob and Helen. Otherwise everything is fine.

It's some type of reflective nylon, which I feel they captured the look of well.

I noticed the weird plasticine sheen on the characters back in 04, and figured it was intentional.

I'm basically watching action figures.

Seemed appropriate for a superhero movie.

Certainly don't think it looks like shit

Like, we've been neck-deep in the world of computer animation for almost 20 years now. We should be at least a little accustomed to the notion that this stuff doesn't age particularly great.

I also don't know that, especially considering the speed at which advancements in technology have been moving, the fact gaming has maybe caught up with film tech after about 20 years is some sort of negative commentary on the quality of of the film work, either.

"Ugh, this 20 year old computer animated movie looks like a triple-a video game from this year that has roughly the same goddamn budget"

...okay?

Thought they would have set it some years into the future.

Those character designs are so boring imo. They could've aged the parents a bit and made the sequel focus on the kids which would give them a chance to update the designs.

at last, for christ's sake
I love Elastigirl, but I feel like Bob needs to punch the heck out of a lot of stuff in the movie because i like when super strong people demolish shit

Who are you talking to exactly? I didn't say it looked like shit, neither did seesaw, the person I quoted. I said it looks dated, which it really does. Personally, I don't think it looks all that great to be honest anymore(I don't agree that the materials in I1 look good). Pretty much all of Pixar's 90's and early 00's content has aged, some aged pretty badly like Toy Story and A Bug's Life. Bringing up video games is just stressing the point. thecouncil might be doing a bit of the ol' hyperbole, but I actually agree in that it's going to be pretty awesome to see a new Incredibles movie with the latest rendering tech.

I think it'll be nice to see an Incredibles movie that doesn't look like crap.
That.

Who are you talking to exactly? I didn't say it looked like shit,

No, someone else did.

I didn't quote anybody directly because I'm addressing various complaints in the conversation at the same time.

thecouncil might be doing a bit of the ol' hyperbole,

So if you know who said it looked like shit why are you asking me.

I never disagreed that it doesn't look dated. Just that dated doesn't automatically = bad.

Agreed. Ratatouille still looks fucking phenomenal. And yeah, the art direction and design in The Incredibles is still stellar, but the film definitely looked super dated when I last watched it a few years back.

Incredibly excited for the sequel and hope it hits just as hard as the first film.

Kind of a rhetorical question considering you are referencing my post there in the midst of your snarky bullshit.

I never disagreed that it doesn't look dated. Just that dated doesn't automatically = bad.

Fair enough.

edit: Don't need to be coming at Jett like that. It's going over the line from "smartass" to "real piece of shit." Especially since it's obvious you're trying to be fair with me at the end.

Apologies, man.

DISAPPOINTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED

After this long we get a direct fucking sequel that starts right after? Whatever. Still glad it's coming out but eeeeeeh.

Sweet! Pretty surprising that Elastigirl will be the main focus of the film. My favorite of the main characters!

I do hope the film focuses on the tone and appeal for people who don't necessarily resonate with what we perceive as universal. Violet was not necessarily the weakest character, so much as the character that had the least development time out of the cast.

How was that "snarky bullshit" Jett?

Jesus Christ. It's all you fucking do, but somehow that relatively straightforward post is "snarky bullshit?"

Am I supposed to like, ask permission to address your opinion that you freely gave in a public forum before I argue against it?

C'mon man.

Maybe if you started using bold and underlining the words you normally only emphasize through italics, jett would more easily realize how less-than-snarky your posts are. God.

Well, that's what i mean, it would be a plot hole for the agent, who Bob has been working with for many decades, to keep that info to himself.

They better finally explain why all the supervillains up and disappeared after the heroes retired. That's always bugged me.
