I swear, every day, he seems more and more cynical and just flabbergasted that Bush is the President. It's like you can almost tell it pains him to put up some kind of happy face when talking about the administration's recent antics.

I think it's a slower burn that what you see (he'll probably snap later rather than sooner), but yeah. He's clearly exasperated about what he's seeing.

That Truman Show crack was great, though.

Did you see the episode right after the election? He was outright pissed off that Bush won. I'm sure eventually he'll settle into a limbo of acceptance and the jokes will continue as usual.

Should he?? Did you SEE that footage of Bush telling the crowd that black people don't live as long as white people? I mean Jesus Christ.

I like the depressive slant he gives when recalling stuff Bush has done, it shows that at least he is rooted in fucking reality. If I were a strong Liberal in America, I'd be equally depressed too.

:lol

Man, what a stooge he is sometimes. Jon sounded almost depressed after that.

Yep. I dunno, he can still get excited about stuff and whatever, but shit, I don't tune in for him to put on some happy face and pretend that the antics of Bush (or any other idiot for that matter) have no real world consequence. I laugh one way or another, but I'm not sure how you could do this stuff without having it be a bit depressing.

Are you guys talking about tonight (01/12) or last night? I managed to miss the first airing last night and the dozen repeats. :\

"Don't worry, son; when we're done you'll be an American soon enough. Not too sure about that "strong liberal" thing though"

Wow...I gotta download this.

If I were a strong Liberal in America, I'd be equally depressed too.

I couldn't even stand to watch the rest of the results come in that night. I threw myself into bed as soon as they hinted that my state (Ohio) would more than likely be called for Bush.

I was depressed the following day. :(

Those memories are so vivid :p *shakes head violently in an attempt to suppress those painful memories*

I really wonder how American politics got to the point where orchestrated publicity stunts like these are considered perfectly acceptable (by whomever), and only mocked on The Daily Show (and perhaps the internet).

I mean, after Bush made his comment about black males, you could, for a fleeting moment, see a hint of humanity in the face of the man next to him. ...but then he just nodded, realizing he shouldn't acknowledge how inappropriate it was.

Is it a true scientific fact? Was it a joke? What was the context?
