I bought a good techno double cd a few weeks ago, Anual Tuning 2004. The song I like the most from it is Feel for you by the Mystery. There's also some good songs from Paul van Dyk, ATB, Benassi, and 4 Strings on it.

Sasha & Digweed compils
Sasha airdrawndagger (will be a classic for years to come)
Robert Miles 23am
Orbital In-Sides
Underworld Beacoup Fish
Leftfield Leftism
Freeland Now & Them

...and tons of other stuff.

wow alot of people listen to some serious cheese on this list. ian van dahl and lasgo? yikes.

I want to whole heartedly recommend any and all Ferry Corsten. His DJ sets and artist albums never disappoint.... ever.

Disclosure - I know Ferry personally, so I have a tendency to not be disappointed with him.

I've been listening to a lot of hard trance lately. I can't stand vocal trance anymore, it really is too cheesy.

Anyways, I urge people to listen to Di. www.di.fm

That's more like it! Nothing touches the magic of Detroit and Chicago.

But personally I think the best stuff to come from the Netherlands were the Acid Planet / Bunker / Murder Capital scenes. Killer.

Anyone get Ministry's Clubber Guide 2005? Love to hear some thoughts... I've seen the track list and, surprisingly, there are quite a few that I have not heard on the track listing.

A little known gem that I found years ago... wanna be cool and find songs WAY before the hit the radio?

Dream Dance

Site is in German... but they do give out track listings which is wonderful. The albums can be purchased on Amazon.com but are TERRIBLY expensive... but I've never been disappointed... well at least ENTIRELY ;)

I saw him for the first time in SF recently during his first set of the night, and I was a bit disappointed. He was spinning records I found too familiar, and I don't listen to Trance much. Judging from the few albums of his I've heard, he does mix in the more accessible stuff, and I'm really not against that at all, but the set wasn't doing anything for me. Either that or it was because of all the OC kids in the audience. I would say the OC kids had a big part to do with my disappointment. After his set I went to another area and saw Steve Baltes and his set was awesome!

MAF’s man Drinky listens to Corsten. That bit surprised me. I’ve always thought of him as an experimental noise type of guy.

How old are those pills? I haven't seen Motorola's for the longest time. They’ve lead to such great times. :) Your mix and that picture has brought back good memories. Fuck'n Method Man... Do you spin? I don't smoke.

Wow, cool topic. I'm a noob regarding Dance/Trance, that is, hear it all the time at clubs but never felt the urge to delve deeper into the scene. However, thanks to a friend I now lost sight of, I've started to apprectiate James Holden's work greatly. Especially 'Fine Day', 'Janeiro', the 'Nothing' remixes, 'A Break in the Clouds' and 'Better make Room'. Some other names that popped up in this topic I know (and like) are DJ Shadow, Celcius, Sasha, Way out West and Boards of Canada.

Now I checked 'Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music (cool alternative for Gnod!) and the genres 'Progressive House', 'Detroit House' and 'Brit House' seem to be the most interesting (like'm more than others) - good to know. I guess Holden fits best in the first category, any recommendations for me what to check/listen/buy?

I just feel the need to share that because Sasha and Digweed's goosebump-inducing music really does for me, and some fine day I'll get to go see them in their native land. Texas'll do till then.

P.S. look at this photo of James. Hmm. He needs sleep like I do.

Rei - Sounds like you like the genre called "progressive" (as you can probably tell, Ishkur isn't really much of a fan :p) ... If you like Holden (who also happens to be a big fan of hentai, interestingly enough :lol ), definitely be sure to check out Sasha and John Digweed. Sasha's Global Underground:Ibiza is, IMO, the definitive Sasha set, though you'll definitely want to check out his artist album, Airdrawndagger, and his last release, Involver. For the Digweed side of things, you'll probably really like the MMII album.

Some stuff you might like:

-Nick Warren - Global Underground:Reykjavik
-Max Graham - Shine
-Sander Kleinenberg - Everybody and Sander Kleinenberg - This Is Everybody Too (more funky/housey than progressive but still good nevertheless)
-Anthony Pappa - Balance 006 - the first disk especially is very good
-Deep Dish - Yoshiesque
-Hybrid - Wide Angle

DJs/Artists you'd be into:

Sasha & Digweed of course, Nick Warren, Danny Howells, Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, Deep Dish, Jimmy Van M, James Zabiela, Noel Sanger, Perry O'Neil, Luke Chable, Infusion, Phil K, Dave Seaman, Anthony Pappa, Chris Fortier, and Tilt

Fusebox - from the track listing, your set sounds pretty NRG-ish... I've been in the mood for something like that lately, I'll have to remember to d/l it when I'm at home.

I second the Sasha Ibiza GU being the best Sasha cd bar none. Also one of the first EDM cds I ever bought.

Lisa Lashes posted on here? Whatever happened to her? I have a great deal of respect for her, as well as Anne Savage (who Im having dinner with in May....!!!!!!)

DJs I really respect like:
Ferry Corsten (nicest guy in the world!!!! Man chugs champagne like no one else I know!)
Armin Van Buuren (before A State of Trance became medocrity)
Tiesto (when he actually cares... guy is too big now, and some sets are just kinda *yawn*)
Paul Van Dyk
Above and Beyond
Mike Koglin (got to speak with him recently on the phone, very nice dude, very talented producer)
Suzy Solar (hottest female epic trance DJ i know! You can hear her on ETN.fm or www.suzysolar.com)
Energy-Dai (Probably the best Japanese hard dance DJ behind....)
Yoji Biomehanika (ProTip: He contributed a song to Sega Touring Car called Brave Nu Charge)
Phil Reynolds
Nick Sentience
BK
Nick Warren
Sasha
Hernan Catteneo (really nice, really talkative, excellent mixer, excellent track selection)
Johan Gielen (another super nice dude... playing alot harder now)
Markus Schulz (really doing great things in the prog trance arena, super nice guy who invites his miami fans to his birthday parties and such... lovely wife too)
------------------------------------------------------------------

As far as individual tracks, I just got an order from dancegrooves.com in today for the new promo mix that I am working on, a mix of trance, tech trance, and hard trance. Here is what I got:

He was here a few months ago but I couldn't go because I was sick and Chris Leibing was the next night.

Sasha & Digweed of course, Nick Warren, Danny Howells, Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler, Deep Dish, Jimmy Van M, James Zabiela, Noel Sanger, Perry O'Neil, Luke Chable, Infusion, Phil K, Dave Seaman, Anthony Pappa, Chris Fortier, and Tilt

All correct answers in a row.. nice.

Will that be cheddar or american cheese?

Question: Does junior member also apply to taste in music?
Answer: Yes it does.

oh come on, Caprice is better looking than Britney Spears, and can actually sing, unlike everyone's favorite pop princess.
