Danganronpa V3 demo now available

Your right to be cynical. I've basically chose the wrong guys and girls to back in every entry because they end up dying. Oddly enough I don't feel comfortable around the main character this time around. Could see her being a shock death but not sure how they would implement in the game.
I'm not particularly concerned. A false protagonist scenario seems extremely unlikely.

Yeah, there's something in the demo that might seem like a spoiler, but it's not. It's just a reference to the Japanese-only demo for the first game.

I disagree that nothing's spoiled about the first 2 games but it's easy to overlook, I guess?

Hajime outright says he has no talent.

Good to hear this doesn't spoil previous games, haven't played 2 yet (gonna grab it shortly since its on sale for vita) but might as well give this demo a go-around.

Tips for Mind Mine? Stuck on very first one lol... Shit's impossible

Edit: as I type this I realise you don't have to clear the whole board *slaps forehead*

Playing the demo got me back on the Danganronpa train. I forgot how good this series is.

Watching recaps of the first two games as a refresher and then I plan on watching the D3 anime. Is that any good?

Also, I played through the demo the first time with English voices. Might give it a go with Japanese voices next...see which ones I prefer.

Oh yeah, not trying to say I didn't enjoy her Kyoko (I really did), but it's nice to see her blatantly improve too, you know?

To tell the truth I prefer her voice as Kyoko than Ann. I shall see how she is going to do as Kaede. So far I am liking but she lacks a bit in the trial compared to Makoto and Hajime.

Pretty disappointed in the audio quality (on Vita). The English voices especially are waaaay too quiet, even when turning the voice volume all the way up.

I hope getting the game on the Vita isn't a mistake. I'll probably need to clear up space on my memory card if we get an audio patch.

I liked both of the anime series for D3.

At least the Japanese audience also ranked her very highly.

I wouldn't give it much thought, they also did one before the anime of the first game aired and
Togami won
. I mean, I love the bastard, but I feel that is one of the most hated characters in that game.

Just finished the demo and not really feeling it. I think that the new lie mechanic could lead towards some interesting narrative direction but, in general, the whole "reality show" setup is wearing thin.

Also, this might silly to say after completing two games, I think all the senseless killing has become too much of a negative to me. Every time I talk to a character I deem interesting I also resignedly think "I wonder in what arbitrary way they would die in this game" and thus I can barely enjoy the interactions.

If you want to stay on the Danganronpa train, STAY AWAY FROM THE D3 ANIME!!!

I kinda liked parts of it, but it's a slog to get through and there's a whole lot of character stuff there that ranges from divisive to downright garbage.

If you really want to watch D3, watch only the despair arc. It isn't great but has good moments. Stay far away from the future arc.

So this demonis made of entirely original content? The trial we see here and, I assume, Makoto and that main dude from DR2, are not in the final DR3 game or are they?

The anime is shit. I couldn't take any scene in that first arch seriously when every other shot was filled with bouncing boobs, panty shots, and every other fanservice trick in the book. Hard to take a character's death seriously when the show itself can't take itself seriously for a fucking second.

the chance that a character I like may die or kill at any time is part of the reason I enjoy it so much.

I agree with more or less this. Despair arc has something going for it while future arc ruins anything good found in the despair arc. Best solution would be skip both. Fan theories were better than what we ended up with.

I guess, but even still, maybe just the episodes before Junko is introduced. It becomes the Junko show from that point onward, unrelentingly so.

Going to have to disagree here. The best parts of the D3 anime imo, are the main trio for the new characters, and how it tells two separate arcs that manage to complement each other. If you HAVE to watch D3, watch in airing order, so you can appreciate the latter and the arcs of the former.

This is sort of a bizarre recommendation to me, to be honest? Neither arc is really distinct from the other despite the labeling/focus; you're literally telling people to watch every other episode of a show.

Despair has enough problems that I don't know why you'd want to watch just that. I disliked most of the show but I guess it could be worth watching if you really want more DR.

And the theme songs are good at least.

Just finished the demo on Vita and yeah, the audio quality is really poor. Really hope it gets improved for the final game because I'd like to get the game on Vita if possible.

From my brief exposure, the new characters seemed okay but of course it's hard to judge from a short demo. The new mini-games seemed fine.

Overall, it seems like more Danganronpa. And I really liked the first two games so I could go for some more of that.

No. It's awful. I'd call it akin to a bad fanfic, but that's not giving bad fanfics enough credit. Future Side is terrible, Despair Side is terrible, it's all terrible. The only good part of the series was speculating how they could ruin the franchise even further every week while it was airing, and that train has passed. Only disappointment and agony awaits you in DR3.

Played it last night. Definitely a fun little slice and a good refresher on all the mechanics. Hope the sound mix and Vita audio are a bit better at launch.

I am not going to lie. I laughed out loud when the victim appeared. I was not expecting that. I thought it was neat that the protagonists of the previous two games were in the demo to help guide you.

I had the same issue on PS4. The mixing just doesn't work at all

Kodaka and Koizumi. I don't know who did the English dub, but it seems to acknowledge the train wreck that it is in a shrill, but somewhat enjoyable manner.

Funimation do tend to make their dubs really silly when they can get away with it, and in this case it actually helps a lot. It definitely elevates the show from a trainwreck to a funny trainwreck.
