I'm running this maxed out 1080p@60 with a 780ti, you should destroy this game, there must be something wrong, do you use an Xbox 360 controller?
don't think this is the only guy with a VAC Ban that is playing dark souls.
and just because he got one ban, doesn't mean he is cheating all the time.
NVIDIA driver 347.88 from 2015 fixed the crash on my 770, please everyone try it.
Anyone have an issue with other players not animating? Whenever invaders or summons enter my game, their character model doesn't animate at all. Same thing if I am summoned except it applies to some of the enemies as well, like Crystal Sage just doesn't cast so I can basically solo that fight for whoever summons me.

Yeah this is ridiculous.
GTX 970
i7 4790
8gb ram
1080p res
running average of 40-51
wtf, anybody have any suggestions? this is so frustrating, its making me nauseous.

I have:
i5 4670k
16GB RAM.
GTX 970 ASUS Strix.
And I play from day one at 1080p, everything maxed, permanent and rock solid 60 frames per second. Try reinstalling drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller.
Running everything on Max on i5/780, runs great except crashes immediately on anything over 'Low" lighting. Why does it keep adjusting the lighting performance?
Severe stuttering started when I entered the Catacombs. Happen for anyone else?
I have an i7 5820K and EVGA GTX 970. Haven't updated Nvidia in the past month or so because I don't want the new drivers to ruin everything. I'm on 362.00
There is nothing you can do, basically everyone has these hitches. I guess you could lock it to 30 and you wouldn't notice them anymore, but that is insane when you have 60fps most of the time.Where are save files stored? I'm getting basically flawless performance except for a very noticeable hitch every time it saves. It seems to have gotten worse as I've gotten deeper in the game (bigger save file?). The game itself is installed to my Windows drive (SSD) but My Documents are on a slower one. I assume it's a hard drive write time thing but if it's saving to C: I have no idea...
Is it confirmed that the 364.72 driver ruins performance?
If that's Sagan in yours. Also, OT, but is that Richard Feynman in your avy?
Does it matter which download version?
Just download the more recent one.
Well, tried it, still averaging 40-45fps in high wall of lothric...
This is insane.![]()
I've tried even playing on low and 900p, still 40-45.
I just realized the OP lacks this very important temporary solution for this game breaking crashing issue.
When posting your own tip/trick or something else you'd like to see here in the OP, be sure to mention my username as this way the post will appear among the results when I search for my username after an absence. I may miss your suggestion otherwise.![]()
Something is wrong with your setup, but it's hard to know why without more data. I mean, my brother is using an i5 4690k + GTX 660 and he plays at 50-60 fps in that place.
Go to NVIDIA control panel and set in Dark Souls III options "Maximum performance", and check it again.
PD: I'm on latest NVIDIA drivers, by the way, 364.72.
Yeah...
it seems to be getting worse.
gtx 970 ssc 4gb
i7 4790
even on all low settings I'm starting to get averages in the high 30's.
Power management set to max perf., 3d application settings adjusted.
WTF is going on![]()

Easily the scariest thing in Dark Souls 3

wear a helm that covers the whole face and head. This solves the crashes. Also you have to have a shield for some reason. Fallen Knight helm works good for this.
what's your CPU?
What does your performance statistics overlay of choice say? What is the GPU load, CPU load? VRAM, RAM usage, temperatures, etc.
Everything looks normal. Temperates at a good range, GPU load is at 99%, cpu is fine, RAM isn't having any issues.
I'm literally running Dark Souls 3 at a fluctuating 33-51 FPS (consistently at 33--40) on:
GTX 970 4gb
I7 4790 3.6ghz
Windows 10
8GB ram.
Like, what? I tried old drivers, tried clean uninstall of old drivers, tried new drivers, tried no Xbox One Elite controller, tried windowed mode, 900p, 720p, all low, still cant run a lock 60.
WHAT WOULD POSSIBLY be making my computer unable to run this game at 720p on all low settings at under 50FPS consistently.
I'm losing it.
The GPU load shouldn't be that high. What is the core clock and memory clock at on it?

I'm not getting any per-object motion blur. Does this game have that?
Default, haven't touched it at all. I don't really want to OC it, I know I could, but it's SSC already and I don't want to take the risk.
If I lock to 60, it's constantly dropping to between 54-58 as I walk through the world. Not moving and rotating the camera can usually maintain a solid 60.
What the hell is going on?
I've tried almost everything posted, and I'm still getting constant slowdown when walking around the world.
If I lock to 30 fps through RTSS, it's constantly dropping to between 27-29 as I walk through the world. If I stop moving and rotate the camera, it can usually maintain a solid 30.

SSC? Which 970 do you have. I got an MSI that comes by default overclock from reference design. And can overclock it a lot more, very easily. Not saying you should need to, but more information the better.
Well i'm in a certain area of the game now where it is crashing rather frequently, had 3 crashes tonight. Afraid to play more and just have it keep crashing or crash during a boss or something. Hope a patch comes soon.
