Dark Souls 3 Trailer (Gamescom 2015)

just a reminder for everybody

we need to know when the embargo ends

I need this :(

If the bars are there, the stricter durability rules are probably there too otherwise there would be no reason to have them, since durability is essentially a non-factor in the other games.

Not necessarily. Special attacks may drain durability faster, like the Drake Sword in Dark Souls.

Mixed feelings about the gameplay footage.. It certainly looks good but that bump in speed just seems weird on characters in full plate armour. One of the things I like in Souls is the realistic compromise between choosing heavy armour/big weapons and slower movement over light gear and nimbleness.

Hope it keeps its own identity and feeling, doesn't have to be too bloodborny.

Yeah that roll looked like a <10% equip load roll and he's wearing like full plate. I don't want a clone of bloodborne.

Wonder if there are any spells in the demo.

Pretty sure the big skull is the same as the giant enemy in the trailer. It's a short glimpse, but the gigantic figure seems to be wearing a crown, just like the skull.

I see where you're coming from, but I'd assume that special attacks of that nature would now be relegated to weapon arts - that'd make more sense to me, although it's entirely possible they still work as they did previously.

The gigantic figure is the "cinder giant" from the end of the CG trailer, and it wears a full-face metal mask. It also has flesh and muscles. The giant skeleton could be the same species, but probably not the same individual.

Edit: On second thought, I take that back. There are three giants so far: cinder giant from the CG trailer (crown, chain mail, cinder flesh), the non-cinder giant from 1:33 in the gameplay trailer (metal mask, chains), and the skeletal giant (gold crown, no flesh).

I assume weapon arts will carry a durability cost. Regardless, there's no reason not to show weapon durability, especially if it's not working on the Dark Souls 2 system where bonfires repair your items.

Don't think it's the same guy. Missing his sword for starters.

Look at how fucking shiny and beautiful that armour is, look how great the animations are, holy shit we're in for a treat.
I'm calling it: This will be the Souls game to unify everyone, everyone will think it's the best. The Souls Community will finally know peace.

Rolling seems much more fluid than in DS2? I just started my Scholars playtrough and tried with a rolling/no shield build but it is sooo slow in 2.

Need to raise dat ADP stat up a few notches.

Edit: Holy shit, does that boss literally spawn from the abyss, there's that blueish black abyss goop dropping from the ceiling and shit. The way it writhes as its summoned reminds me of a butterfly emerging out of its cocoon. It kinda reminds me of a cross between a praying mantis and a human, it's freaky.

I hope youre right. I want this to be the game to bring us all back together. Also ADP doesnt change roll speed, just i-frames

HNNNNNNG

"Dancer of the Frigid Valley"

I knew we knew the name before, but seeing it onscreen...

It's beautiful.

I like the way she emerges from the rosetta window of the cathedral as though she's pulling herself out of a pool of water.

Actually, there seems to be a blob of inky liquid above the window that she is birthed out of. Reminds me of the One Reborn's introduction.

I thought ADP raised the speed of specific actions + iframes? Like making roll recovery faster and estus drinking faster. Fucking ADP.

The walking animation is godlike, so is the running, yes!

Indeed they are! They look so much better than the stupid floaty crap in Dark Souls 2. Have the more of a grounded and solid feel of the DS1 animations.

And the graphics are great. I already love what I see.
The true sequel to Dark Souls is here.

It looks fantastic. Love the visuals.

But still have my doubts about the speed, and specially that ultra light roll.
What I disliked about the roll on DS1, is that it was way too easy. Locking the rolls under a stat on DS2 was a good call to me, it felt like a finesse movement.

If the roll in Dark Souls 1 was too easy it just meant that you had figure out when you could i frame through an attack. It meant you were getting better at understanding a constant within the game.

In Dark Souls 2 you started off not being able to roll through anything so people are naturally going to raise the stat to be able to effectively dodge. In the end its the same thing as Ds1 just more of a headache for the player at the beginning. Im glad theyre losing that design philosophy.

ADP does increase the speed of item/estus usage(which shouldnt have been nerfed in the first place..) but it doesnt improve roll recovery speed or roll speed in general. Thats all governed by your equip load and even then there are only 2 hard breakpoints to take note of with rolls as opposed to the 3 that Ds1 had.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who had no trouble with the rolls in any Souls game.
Perhaps my own ADP is just that high.

Drama averted, looks beautiful and basically what the early screens of DS2 had promised.

The movement looks very similar to DeS to me, the character did more of a slight 'jump off' when rolling in that as well instead of just going to the ground. It's a really subtle difference but it looks like that as far as I can tell from the video, it's great either way.

This is an absurd and nitpicky thing to bring up, but the only thing I dislike here is the health bars. I find the color scheme, particularly the yellow after hitting enemies, really annoying looking in contrast to the rest of the colors.

The roll in DaS and DeS is nearly identical to each other, it's only Dark Souls 2 that has the heavy ground roll at low equip load.

I might look at the video later, but I'm not sure yet. Can someone who's watched it describe how the Estus Flask works, if you can tell? Is it like Dark Souls 1? Because that's imo the best healing system in any game and I really hope they go back to it.

I did some digging to find out where 'based' came from at some point. It originates from the rapper Lil' B. He started using 'based' to mean 'grounded', 'down to earth'. Called himself the 'Based God'. Check it out on KnowYourMeme.

People have started using it for everything, and it is just so horrible.

Not a very based thing to say.

Taken from TeraMantis: its implied that she comes from a different world or plane of existence, the "Frigid Valley" in one of the descriptions or gravestone carvings. So that's just her passing through dimensions I guess
