Darktide : Unlocked and Loaded

Well it apears to be digital only on the PS5. That's disappointing.

Apparently the gore should be re enabled today (was there a patch?).
The mentioned countries won't be able to interact with the ragdolls anymore which I don't care about but I want the dismembering.
Gore is back on the menu boys!

For Germany/Austria I believe Japan still keeps the full censorship.

New patch introduced brightness and motion blur settings.
Brightness appears to be broken in this game since by default, there's either black crush, or, if you up the brightness it starts looking washed out, there's no in-between IMO.

Regarding the game now :
- There's GFX shimmering and general graininess on the Pro and it most definitely doesn't run at a locked 60fps, even with VRR enabled there's this (almost) constant judder/jitter.

- Game explains fuck and all when it comes to... everything really (systems/shops/where or how to equip stuff etc etc).

- Game difficulty is...weird :
The first 2 difficulty settings are piss easy to the point that it doesn't encourage co-op since everyone can do their own thing and just go gung ho - a stark contrast compared to Vermintide 2 which - while kind of easy in the first 2 diff.settings - it made you learn how to properly play the game by sticking together otherwise it was assassin pinned-down time.

Gonna keep playing and see how it goes

So in reguards to the shinmering that sounds like they turned on Pisser (PSSR) because thats the exact issue Avatar and Silent Hill 2 remake had with their patches.

As for Fatshark making a game and then not giving you any information on how to play it effectively... yes... well... its fatshark.

Its there in every PSSR game, but you have to zoom in or look really closely to notice it. Its pretty much invisible in motion

I'd notice it lol, I noticed it in Black Ops 6 campaign on my second playthrough after it received the Pro update, auction area of gala ballroom, shimmering on the walls, wasn't there pre-Pro, not sure if they fixed it since.

I'm not getting any of that my friend, maybe it's display related?

Phantom, it's there brother, maybe it's not as bad as in other games (AW2/SH2Re) but it's there, same thing with the graininess...
Definitely not the crisp look I expected from watching those YT videos - it's not bad looking but, the IQ isn't pristine (nor is the framerate).

PS: there's also some minor texture pop up

PS2 : for 35€ that I got it for, I can't really complain 😁
Gonna play this to death (like I did with Vermintide 2)

Texture pop-in definitely, I mentioned it in a previous post 👌 And I also agree about the brightness, hard to find the right balance. Otherwise I think it's actually a very good showcase for the Pro, the lighting, environments and overall spectacle in the heat of battle is pretty impressive 👍

Yes, it does look good friend and the framerate does hold up when shit hits the fan.

I'm more annoyed about the graininess than the shimmering (which is minor) and , again, about the whole brightness thing since you just can't find the sweet spot ffs...
I've put it on 55 for the time being since below that there's still black crush 😔

Cheers

5 hours later, and after reaching lvl10 with my zealot :
This game man...fucking wow, it's EVERYTHING I expected it to be since watching the 1st trailer...5 years ago on the Xbox showcase.
The atmosphere, music, characters, banter, balls to the wall action and weapon feel are off the fucking charts, like Goddamnnnn...

Levels are also absolutely beautiful due to both the art-direction and how they're designed - lots of nook and crannies to explore and the verticality really adds to the whole gameplay.
Add to that some really nice weapon feel (haptics/vibration are amazing) AND the sound production which is C-R-I-S-P and...fuckkk.

The fact that it also looks really, really nice with a good framerate to boot on the Pro is the cherry on the proverbial cake.

This, compared to Vermintide 2...is not only an evolution but a revolution, the fact that they managed to balance the melee with the ranged combat is no small feat and something that I wasn't expecting tbh - not to mention how "crunchy" it feels always compared to Vermintide 2 which felt like you were swinging your weapons through cardboard cutouts.

What a great muhfuggin' surprise, i was really unprepared for good it is, the only problems I have are A) can't find some proper freelook/aim sensitivity settings and B) the brightness/contrast levels which are completely fucked , they NEED to fix this 'cause, again, there's either black crush everywhere, or, things start looking washed out when you up the setting slider.

Color me surprised , then again, I'm playing the "finished " version since apparently, it was in a pretty bad state when it came out both content and performance wise - pretty much like Vermintide 2, I mean, this is Fatshark after all, still, the game is in a fantastic state right now and I'm glad to have finally jumped in.
