Blade: Trinity writer/director and Batman Begins writer David Goyer has committed to write, produce and direct a feature adaptation of DC Comics' The Flash for Warner Bros. Pictures, says Variety.

Created by Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert, the Flash first appeared in DC Comics late in 1939. He's the alter ego of chemistry student Jason Peter "Jay" Garrick, an aspiring athlete whose exposure to heavy water fumes gives him the ability to move at incredible speeds.

"'Flash' is my favorite of the properties," said Goyer, "I think the character of the Flash, who moves faster than the speed of light, opens itself up to rich cinematic and story ideas."

So... what do you think about this, and with David Goyer directing? There sure are a shitload of comic book movies being planned... can anyone say market saturation?

are they gonna use jay garrick, barry allen or wally west?

Barry Allen could run well faster than the speed of light back in the 60's and 70's-- but retroactively, he's been slowed down.

Warner saw what he did with Batman Begins and made the right move. Too bad he isn't writing Singer's Superman.

Well, look at what he did with Blade Trinity..

Actually surprisingly Harry Knowles has a good thing to say about Trinity:

Now, I know I shit all over Goyer's BLADE TRINITY, but I will say this... While it was a steaming pile, I also feel the character didn't have any life in him anymore. Wesley famously was unwilling to go anywhere new or daring with the character - so he had the inenviable task of somehow adding something interesting around a stagnant unmoving character. Meanwhile, all the action common with that franchise had been done to the umpteenth by the Wachowskis, Zhang Yimou and others. Frankly, I would have brought in Morbius, the Living Vampire in that snazzy red and blue black outfit with heroin hair, oversized eyes and alabaster skin. Alas.

Goyer wrote all three Blade movies. Batman Begins is the best superhero movie ever written.

He also wrote Dark City, which was then ripped off by the Wachowski brother and sister and turned into The Matrix.

I've always thought there were similarities between Dark City and the Matrix. No wonder...

Goyer's writing = good
Goyer's directing skills = horrible

so I can't say I'm looking forward to this Flash movie...

If Goyer has his way he'll have these under his belt:

Blade 1,2,3
Thor
batman Begins
and
The flash?

The comic book version of Uwe Boll?
;)

Great, but don't screw it up. I really dig the "Flash" costume. The color of the costume i mean. I know it's not the whole pix but couldn't find the whole version of it.

Bwhahaha, Goyer wrote the 1998 David Hasselhoff made for TV flick, "Nick Fury: Agent of Shiled"

Goyer's friends with Geoff Johns as they wrote JSA together... hopefully that'll help the script. The relatively small budget could hurt Flash too, IMO. A Flash movie is going to be more FX heavy on average.

Is Garrick the one that had the tin saucer on his head? How is it that it never flew when he was moving so fast?
