Days later, the aftermath of the cookie lawsuit...

"Our home is like a funeral parlor," Renea Young said. "They've robbed us of our laughter. My spirit, my soul, is damaged."

Sounds like an emotional distress lawsuit waiting to happen. :lol

Guess what? They deserve every bit of that grief. This country is totally fucked due to frivolous lawsuits thanks to people like them.

She still doesn't f'n get it... the girls delivered cookies... it wasn't a f'n prank you idiot! Sorry I don't have any sympathy on this one.

BTW Denver Gaf'ers or whomever please keep us updated on any additional news items, I'm curious to know if anything else will be written up on... like the pending restraining order, filed against the husband of the nutty chick.

Well, the girls did knock on someone's door after 9pm and failed to respond when talked to. Should have delievered during daylight and delivered the cookies in person, face-to-face.

How many doors have you knocked on in your lifetime? Suffice to say it's VERY easy not to hear someone inside a house saying hello? hello? to you when you are standing on the outside through at least one door and who knows what walls(we don't know what position the lady was in relative to the door when she called out hello).

What an awsome prank. Baking cookies, giving them to people, and then not taking credit for it. That's HILARIOUS! It's like a better version of Punk'd (really!)

She deserves every bit of grief for this. There is no excuse for such a bullshit lawsuit.

I'm glad that people are going out of their way to harrass these people. No sarcasm here, they truely deserve it.

Like I kept count on the number of doors I knocked on. I have heard "hello?" often but, yes, it is possible to have difficulty in hearing someone due to whatever circumstances. Still, the girls can easily just say "Hello? Is anybody here? I got some cookies for you". If they wanted to surprise the neighbors, they should have just left the cookies without needing to knock. Eventually, the cookies will be discovered. I'm not on the old bag's side, but there's still some valid points here. The girls supposely had good intentions but there were holes in their thoughts and action processes that resulted in this mess.

Ever hear of a rhetorical question?

And equally not be heard on the inside.

Then stop arguing for it and against the little girls. :) In no sane world should the girls have had to think that knocking would result in a mess. The old bitchy bag wasn't the last place they stopped at that night, and nobody else had a problem. If you were more versed in the story, you'd know the girls did it at that hour as an alternative to a school dance and afterparty where they thought there might be drinking and other mischief.

are you serious? Well, now I see where we're drawing the judges from in this country.

Whether the girls meant harm or not, Young told The Post, they had been responsible for frightening her family and sending her to the emergency room. She offered this analogy:

"I backed into a car in a parking lot. I didn't mean to. But I caused damage, and I had to pay for it."

she can't be serious.

Many strangers have made their own cookie deliveries to the Youngs, everything from elaborately wrapped and expensively stocked gift baskets to an envelope holding Oreo crumbs.

:lol

What does this woman do if UPS tries to deliver a package after dark? Does she sit in a back room shaking, call the police and shit her pants? She'd probably have a heart attack if someone used the doorbell instead.

The girls only bothered with her house because a light was on in it, last I read. The fact that she keeps citing what they did as if they 're delinquents is ridiculous... but then again, so are the threats against her as of late.

That bitch is stupid. Suing a couple of well meaning kids of a gesture gone bad. Fuck her. She deserves all that she got from the rest of the US of A. Pathetic.. and that caller who said

"you are what's wrong with society."

is right.

Edit: And I want to add her family were dumb fuckers to for allowing her to go through with it. They had their chance to stop mum. Now they want to cry about it :lol :lol :lol

The Ostergaard and Zilletti families said they first waited to see a bill. Then they asked Young to sign an agreement that, with the roughly $900 paid, she would not make additional claims. Young said she was bothered by that request and the lack of trust she believed it signaled. By Dec. 30, she said, she felt that she had to go to court.

This is the stupidest thing about the whole deal. The families were willing to pay... I find it bizarre that the woman who causes the whole issue is the one who says "all this over cookies."

Indeed.

I'd hate to throw her a surprise party... or send her to one of those flash "shock" sites... or sneak up on her too quickly. You never know what would happen.

This dumbass lady DESERVES every lats bit of harrassment they get.

These girls were doing something genuinley nice for other people and this is the reward they get?

notice you've heard NOTHING from the other families that received the cookies.

The article is right. That lady is what is wrong with America and it's legal system for that matter. I say we print this out and mail her about 5,000 copies of it.

Congrats Renea, you stupid cunt, you're a world class moron and deserve all of this. These gorls did nothing wrong and we're being *SHOCK* nice and this is how you repay them. By suing them.

Hel, doesn't the article also say these girls have been in their house before and were friendly with them? Apparantly not too much so.

This is justice at it finest... she is a bitch and get her apt reward. Suffer hag cunt. You deserve it all.

You would think giving back the $900 would be worth getting rid of the harrasment. Quit being a bitch and think of your daughter's peace of mind.

Learning a bit more about her, I find that Young is a sue-happy bitch. She's done this before and the family knew about her ways, so they asked her to sign papers stating that they'd only pay the medical bills for this one incident and nothing more. Young doesn't sign, but goes for the juggular instead.

I agree, she is what is wrong with America, and I find even less reason to feel sorry for her.

On the OTHER hand, the two girls involved not only got the money back from the lawsuit via donations, but any extra went to charity. And to top it off, they decline making the ordeal even more public since they don't want to bring any undue harrassment against Young from other people.

And there seems to be ANOTHER lawsuit from Young against the girls over this coming soon, probably for 'mental anguish' and stuff.

Fuck her. Seriously.

Hmm..a new lawsuit in the works you say? Even before hearing that I found it increadibly hard to justify her position...now she's just appearing as the lawsuit hungry bitch that she is

How can you even defend this?

Simple. I looked at this stituation through the lens of rational thinking and judgment and not by emotional thinking and judgment.

Perhaps you might understand this by an experience you might have had that is similar to this: Have you ever wanted to help someone and got yelled at instead? The reason you got yelled at is because of an oversight you failed to see regardless of the good intentions you may have had. One example is that I wanted to help my mom in cooking or gardening but only got her angry instead due to an error I have made.

The girls' mistake is obviously doing this at night time, even Holloween ends at 8pm.

There is a flaw in your logic, any normal rational person would have understood that they were trying to do something nice and let them off the hook with a warning BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST DUMB KIDS!

God she even admits she is fucking dumbass. A better analogy would be that she had to pay for damages after a car freaked out and smashed itself into a wall all becuase becuase that car saw her backing up towards that car in a parking lot.

Your emotional reading only makes me appear to have flawed logic.

Both sides made mistakes. The girls' mistake is a minor one while the lady's mistake or mistakes are overboard.

Takes more than just a yell or two to have a fucked up childhood. So are you a saint and have done no mistakes in your life while helping people?

Leaving cookies on someone's porch and ringing the doorbell is not a gosh-darned mistake. The girls did no wrong whatsoever.

Cookie delivery itself is not the mistake. It's the timing of the delivery and the way of delivery.

The whole story doesn't fare much better for Mrs. Young either.

Even if he girls did make a mistake, they and their parents tried to rectify the situation months ago. They were willing to pay the medical bills if Young showed them the bill (reasonable, who in their right mind wouldn't want documentation of where $900 went?), and if she sign papers stating she wouldn't keep this over their head and try to squeeze more money out of them (she's a known court-humper). The lady refused and what does she also do? She sues them for the medical costs that they were going to pay her ANYWAY, and then she tries to get an extra $2000 out of them "for her motion detector". The girls did absolutely nothing to her detection system, but she wanted money for it. FOR WHAT REASON? The judge smartly awarded her $1 for that.

They went out of their way to fix the problem but Young was being a opportunistic bitch. In this, rational and emotional thinking leads me to believe that I can only side with those who bake cookies.

(I'm also eating cookies so that may have some kind of biased tilt, but cookies > you damnit)

the girls were (are?) friends with her 19 year old daughter. dont know about you, but when i was a senior in high school, my friends had no qualms about ringing the door bell around 8-9.. or knocking on the door if they felt it was too late.

Jesusfuck, did any of the interviewers call her out on this BS?

Not sure, but they managed to cull this little trinket...

"I don't believe the girls meant for this to happen," Herbert Young said. "But they could have prevented it from happening if they had just shut their mouths when they came out of court."

waitaminit...

The original Post story was based almost entirely on court records. The girls had declined to comment immediately following the case.

This is pure Daily Show material right here.

Another complaint was spurred by a July 4, 1997, accident in which the Youngs' pickup collided with a slow-moving hay-bale loader turning into a field as they attempted to pass it on a county road.

The case was settled out of court by an insurance company. Renea Young reported suffering neck, head and back injuries.

So wait, she ran into a hay bale loader, while trying to pass it, and then sued? That doesn't make a damn lick of sense.
