Is it even possible on AT?
Nailing the big turns is pretty much key. The last big one can make or break any given lap.herzogzwei1989 said:I'm still having trouble getting 1st place on normal. I even did an endurance race of 40 labs on advanced, MT.

Pretty sure both of these are in the how to play menu. Drifting in AT requires holding down both the gas and brake while turning, then releasing the brake once you're at the desired angle.Edgeward said:I don't know how to turn/drift properly in this game. ._.

herzogzwei1989 said:do you guys feel the handling/control and drone care A.I. are the same as the Model 2 version?
See, I would've thought the AI was more cunty in this one than arcades, but it's been a while.Trojan X said:After playing the arcade, emu and Xbox version, I can confirm that they're the same. Afterall, the Xbox (Sega Racing Classic) uses the same mechanics code as the original Model 2 version.
It seems to be harder in survival mode, and the drones are more erratic than usual in online races. Other than that it doesn't seem different.Shaneus said:See, I would've thought the AI was more cunty in this one than arcades, but it's been a while.
Trojan X said:Seriously. This is pathetic: http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-daytona-usa/17-5152/
"the controls are kinda twitchy"
Idiots! The way they are playing, you can't play like that on any driving game, especially GT and Forza which they liked to compared to! They prefer CPU slightly assisted steering like in NFS The Run, pathetic.
"I never progressed further than this one, man I never even saw the other two tracks"
Well done - you've confirmed that you are a crap player who never understood what the game was all about nor went out of the way to understand it either.
"It's so hard.....!!!"
It's call DEPTH and Learning Curve! Oh gosh! I remember seeing lots of 14, 15 and 16 year old school girls having a major battle on Advanced and Expert mode at the arcade and ruling the roost! Seriously, their skill level was incredible and they were school girls! I've also seen many people jumping on advance course and giving it a good go and always had a smile on their face from sheer excitement. Then you have these guys from Giant Bomb who makes such comments like they did. If girls can love and enjoy this game then why can't these guys who suppose to be people's guidance for all video game purchases, i.e. you got to be a good gamer and know your stuff! Damn, what's wrong with them?!
Gosh, what the heck is wrong with journalist today?! They base everything they do on "content" rather than quality! Serious pathetic.

Pretty good write-up.PepsimanVsJoe said:My review is up: http://www.extraguy.com/2011/10/daytona-usa-review-rolling-start/
Tried to go in a different direction instead of the usual "omg this is so great". Dunno if it worked out.
Sixfortyfive said:If I could nitpick one thing, it's that Daytona actually does have rubberband AI, but you'd never notice it unless you went out of your way to look for it, so it's not exactly a big deal. (Put yourself a lap down at the beginning of a longer race, then try to catch up. It shouldn't be that hard to do, but after obtaining the lead you'll probably never stretch it to more than half a lap over the next opponent, no matter how hard you try.)
PepsimanVsJoe said:Hmm. I was thinking of more recent games where the second place AI is always one or two car lengths behind you.
Making a quick and dirty edit now.

KennyLinder said:Outrun 2 is amazing and it's the evolution from SCUD Race and Daytona USA 2. The gear-drift mechanic was tuned and smoothed with each version and Outrun 2 is the easiest of them all. Outrun 2 is absolutely beautiful too. I remember when a friend and I called a sickie at work when it arrived at the Troc arcade in London and we drove 180 miles just to play it. Amazing times

Trojan X said:I think one of the other guys said that the Xbox one has a better depth in colours and anti-aliasing but its marginal. Otherwise its a happy port all round.
