So we have edgy Hulk, radical Spider-Man, and a couple of edgy original-ish characters like Killspeed (speed + power = Killspeed, geddit?) and Christian Cross-Spear Lady. The 90s never ended at DC.

Pointy Bird Man and Ghost Fish look cool, but not enough to read a book with them unless it was really good.

They're literally bringing back the most 90s D.C. character of the 90s, at least in name.

Not really feeling some of these creative teams but Immortal Men and New Challengers look alright.

Very excited for Snyder's Metal event though.

NEW ADDITIONS:

The Terrifics by Jeff Lemire and Ivan Reis
Jeff Lemire is returning to DC after his Marvel exclusive for a new superhero "family" titled The Terrifics with artist Ivan Reis. Part of the post-Dark Nights: Metal "Dark Matter" line, The Terrifics will consist of Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, Phantom Girl, and Plastic Man.

That's right: a scientist, a stretching man, a brute with physical disfiguation, and a woman who can become intangible.

And yes, it's the team teased earlier this week at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

Lemire said that his goal with The Terrifics is to recapture the feeling of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's Fantastic Four.

Jeff is also writing Hawkman:Found as part of Dark Nights: Metal and might be writing a Hawman ongoing.

ALSO

Brimstone by Justin Jordan and Philip Tan
Tan said he and Justin Jordan created Brimstone to bring an element to the DC Universe that was underserved, saying they were influenced by Vertigo.
Brimstone will bring a level of horror to the DC Universe.

Also final design of Damage:

And Duke is getting a spinoff called Batman: The Signal "Gotham's hero by day" and will be co-written by Scott Snyder and DC Writer's Workshop student Tony Patrick.

Lyte Edge

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag
Will check them all out, but nothing looks all that compelling.

And one character's name is "Honor Guest?" LOL.

Dark Matter has been renamed to New Age of DC Heroes:
The Curse of Brimstone by Justin Jordan and Philip Tan:

The Immortal Men by James Tynion IV and Jim Lee:

Sideways by Justin Jordan, Dan Didio and Kenneth Rocafort:

Silencer by Dan Abnett and John Romita Jr:

The Terrifics by Jeff Lemire and Ivan Reis and Doc Shaner:

The Curse of Brimstone:
"This is OUR horror book." -- Didio.
Jordan: "We see a character from a coal town and watching it die. What about the rest of the country? What happens when those places are ignored? We always see about Gotham and Metropolis."
"He gains the ability to turn into a character who ... has the ability to return the town to it's original stature IF he takes the mysterious man's deal and become his agent."
"When you make a bargain for power out of desperation, it doesn't always end right."
Jordan then spoke about the need to take a look at the forgotten places in the DCU and reinject some horror back into a line that used to carry some classic horror.

Sideways:
This looks at how dimensions opened up and the world was torn apart in the wake of METAL. It covers the story of a kid who falls through one of these tears and possesses the power to travel through creating temporal rifts -- and the damage that creates and chaos it brews.
Didio emphasized the expertise of Rocafort on this series as some of his strongest efforts amongst all of his efforts at DC.
Didio mentioned that with SIDEWAYS, Grant Morrison will be stepping into help from #s 7-10 "as we get into the Dark Multiverse" and those characters."
"There are seven of them and they might be soldiers... that's all though."

Silencer:
Didio spoke about attitude, talent, and strength of character as the core for this upcoming initiative. And this book covers the story of the DC Universe's best - but retired - assassin who has a normal life ... which is interrupted when Tali Al Ghul comes and seeks her help in bringing down Leviathan.

DAMAGE:
Venditti: "He's a character we may only be seeing for the first time, but he's really always been there."
"We have Wonder Woman and Solomon Grundy and Parasite in the first arc and then in the 2nd arc we have Cary Nord on art and we'll be bringing in Poison Ivy and Gorilla Grodd."

Immortal Men:
Tynion IV mentioned IMMORTAL MEN will handle the history and background of the DC heroes and villains hearkening back to THE FORGE when we met the original tribes that became the later heroes who would try and keep humanity alive.

Also a new book has been named: The UNEXPECTED by Steve Orlando and Ryan Sook.
"It's a team of enemies that hate each other only slightly less than the world around them. It's DARK TOWER meets SEVEN SAMURAI."
"They get a chance to right the wrongs in their lives."

The renaming is a good idea. The Didio book will probably get cancelled early as usual (unless it's a mini of course) but all of this looks pretty good. They're putting some good talent on these books. Ivan Reis and Doc Shaner is a pretty good combo.

Why? If Didio goes then it still has Justin Jordan and Grant Morrison on some issues.

I was just joking around with the Didio comment, I kinda like the guy. It's just that every time he actually writes (or co-writes) a particular title, it sells like shit and gets cancelled right away. But I respect his passion and his Kirby obsession.
