Nobody can tell me that wasn't planned. In the campaign, if you pick female spartan its even more obvious, especially during the closing of the Nightfall mission

Yes, I'd feel a hell of a lot better if the game had a legit volleyball mode. Minigames are nice and all, but give me something good to go along with it too.

Originally, they did it that way because the Xbox had pressure-sensitive buttons (unless I'm misremembering), so a soft press would be a small jump and a hard press would be a long jump. I think the Xbox 360 dropped the pressure-sensitive buttons, but they kept the concept the same and changed it from hard and soft presses to long and short ones, respectively.
When 2 was "ported" to PSP, they changed it to the way we see it here: The PS symbols on the mats representing which button you have to press. I don't remember if long or short jumps still mattered or if you just had to press to correct button, and I'm to lazy to check right now, but it's not a new concept.

The "meat" of the game is in gifting/building friendships between the girls.
The minigames are mostly for getting money to buy presents/oufits/etc.
Great Volleyball would be nice too. Probably impossible now but I wish Tecmo would just outsource to Sega AM2. Beach Spikers is still one of the best Vball games around, and that was from 2001.
Also wondering what the casino is like.
Not enough to feed a mosquito, IMO.

This might be the only thing that would make me wanna buy it. My friends brought over the first two games years ago, and I didn't really care for them. I liked the jet ski races in 2, though...it'd be nice if you could just skip the vacation stuff and just pick the mini-games from the main menu and play them as much as you want...perhaps with local/online multiplayer...
What I really want is just Dead or Alive 6, though. But an AM2 co-developed volleyball game would make me seriously consider a purchase.
We could have had Mila, or Lisa, or Leifang, or Tina.
Instead we get this hobgoblin.

I have no intention of every buying this game, but the whole fact it exists plus the reactions it garners from the fans is an amusing source of entertainment for me.
Not until the other characters are inevitably DLC.

Don't limit yourself, once this game gets more attention the people against the game will bring a whole new source of enjoyment.

Oh yes. Both sides of the coin can be entertaining. And I mean this in a light-hearted way. I just look at the gifs in this thread and have a chuckle.
The volleyball in both games was fine. Winning 7-2 or 3 wasn't hard. I also believe the camera was set so each girl would be seen well in any new outfit. Even though Beach Spikers was more authentic, I think Itagaki wanted you paying attention to the girls and not power meters.
Alot of the volleyball difficulty stemmed from some player "matching" the wrong characters. Say Tina and Ayane from the get go. Bad idea. In x2, they hated each other. No matter which one you played as, the other fucked off too much. If you put in the work though and knew how to use Tina or Ayane that team ruled. Tina and Kokoro took less work but was also a vb dominant team. You could even do well with Kasumi and Ayane with work. Helena and Christie were like oil and water.
Tldr on the above. Working on the relationships massively improved the win percentages in vb matches.
As for the gameplay, it was pretty easy. You could play one front, one back or side by side. Sbs, I found to be way more effective. The bump spike was a bit over powered. Blocking was pretty easy to time but wasn't a given.
I hope they keep vb basically the same with a few tweaks. Tone down the bump spike and maybe shorten the time or change the difficulty of keeping a jump serve in bounds. It was a little too easy to just press A then A at the apex and jump serve all the time.
