Dead Space 3 demo available for 360 and PS3

Can't say I liked it, just felt way too similar to the last 2, not that it's a bad thing but I wanted something a bit different.

Not that I have a problem with your comment but i feel that half the people complaining about the changes would also complain that it was a giant DLC map pack if they didnt make these changes.

If games dont change it up after a while they get stagnant. Plus the devs in here have already stated theres tons of what people loved in the first two in this game.

I know that there have been some take with a grain of salt game length estimates, but have any reliable ones popped up? I'm hoping for a meaty 15 hrs.

That's what she said

15-20 single player if you do all the side missions. Co-op about the same, I think, because there are co-op only side missions.

This I would like to know as well. Surely the devs can answer this.

Last 3-4 pages its been asked twice after checking. Folk that know are choosing not to respond. I wonder if that means its 2 discs and you have to swap like mad to do side missions.

If I'm not answering it's because I'm not cleared to say whatever I want about the game and I'm guessing the info might be part of a later announcement.

It sounds suspect disc count is an 'announcement'.

Nonetheless we do appreciate the info you folk do respond to. Its more than usual.

So that is 3 discs confirmed then. After all this is the third game in the series. I can see a pattern here.

Just kidding. If you go by the previews and people that already completed the game saying that it is pretty much the same length as 2, I think we can safely assume that it will have 2 discs on the 360.

The game is longer than 2 by quite a bit however there is no dedicated MP so account for that in your estimates.

Nice, this is longer than 2? I'm starting to get more excited. Demo didn't do anything for me, but I love 2. Hopefully we haven't seen too much of the game, and it will be a nice surprise.

Anybody have any idea what the "surprise" is that is supposed to come out today on facebook? The only thing I see on their page is just a post about the game winning an award for most anticipated horror game.

I'm not sure how I feel. I mean, coop is all good and fun but the gameplay is just the same old hat. Maybe I just have a bit of fatigue in this genre.

Liked the visuals, DS style always shines, particularly showcasing vistas, planetary or in space.
Although I wish they just skipped SSAO alltogether. Deadspace choices of lighting make it mostly redundant - it's really not adding much even when it works - and well, it' SSAO so it doesn't really work most of the time. In one cave scene it looked completely broken (I assume that's just the demo though).

Don't feel the game - DS2 came across as entirely forgettable non-experience, and this is sadly promising more of that. The fact that the demo opens with Uncharted 2 sequence and ends with Lost-Planet-y fight wasn't helping either.

when isaac is slowly walking through the blizzard, you can actually make him walk normal speed by just holding the aim button... seems like an oversight and kinda kills the mood. hopefully this is fixed in the retail version.

also, i really dislike hte new font they have for hte doors and things in game... looks more stylized instead of utilitarian, going against the idea that these interfaces are used by actual people instead of just to look cool.

Fuck the mood. I'm young and virile and if I want to run around during a blizzard, I should be able to do so. There's nothing I hate more than forced slow-mo walking in game. See: ME3 and AC3.

There are better ways to enhance moods(ie. via sound and sights). But forced walking is not a good solution.

Fun question if anyone happens to still have their first play through save: what was your play through time anyway? All this talk of beating the 2nd's time, I have no idea how long it took everyone else anyway. Mines is 10 hours and a half. I am an audio log hunter by nature so this may be on the longer end.

I recently played through the demo for the first time. It was OK I guess. I liked the weapon crafting. I'm not sure I understand why they eliminated the different ammo types though. If you have the same amount of ammo for every weapon, wouldn't you just use the most powerful weapon you have at all times? I know the way I played the past two games was plasma cutter 90% of the time and save up ammo for the big guns for when things get nuts. It put a little strategy and planning ahead into it. I guess they might be thinking it could encourage people to use more weapons but I don't see it. Why would anyone not just use the line gun if it uses the same ammo as the plasma cutter?

Co-op was pretty good but I'm probably going to play it solo the first time.

I gotta say the environments, atmosphere and sound are top notch as usual, the sense of an organic setting has been a real feature of these games. I'm still not sold on the weapon creation, modification, etc yet, it seems a bit unbalanced really. I kind of liked the way the other games handled weapons and upgrades, this system looks like it has the potential to be easily exploited.

The cover mechanics feel terrible and I ended up just disregarding them and dispensing of human enemies in the same way I would necromorphs.

It had its moments, but I still have my apprehensions, not sold on it yet but I did get a great deal of enjoyment out of the first two. Taking a wait and see approach on this one.
