It's quite interesting to see what is effectively the same game (DS & CP) go head to head. I assume the publishers were keen to be first to market, but it surprises me that Dead Space will come out a month later, after Christmas. I wonder if the smart decision would have been in holding off longer if you can't hit the busiest sales period of the year a month after all your fans bought basically the same game.
I would presume any promo Dead Space does in advance will sell more copies of CP as people who really want to play Dead Space over the holiday will just buy the game that is Dead Space in all but name. This could be as bad a decision as dropping Titanfall2 between COD and Battlefield.
I am personally hoping the Calisto Protocol is good, I'll pick it up, if so. And I'll probably not want to dive into Dead Space straight after, so I'll probably wait until it's on EaAccess. I'd probably not buy the remake at all unless it reviewed spectacularly, as I've already played it (assuming it's not significantly different to the original) and am not desperate to do so again, but not making Christmas and having almost the same game launch just before doesn't help.
Assuming the Calisto Protocol reviews well, I'm not sure that Dead Space won't be dead on arrival. Really interested to see what the video looks like - and particularly what people who have followed both games think - maybe I've got it wrong and the Brand name and people's fondness for the series will make a big difference.
