Dead Space Official Gameplay Trailer

I disagree.

Its literally proving most times a remake is not really done by the original team, remakes in general are as rare as it comes in gaming and the few that we have are usually done by a team that specializes in that or a separate team or something, but we got many that turned out amazing regardless.

Pulling "most" and "usually" out of thing air doesn't really prove anything.

Not really. And using the gold standard in the industry as a counter point is pretty silly.
No, he's right. Shadow of the colossus? Metroid: Samus Returns? RE2make? Black Mesa? Links Awakening? FF7?

You don't need the original devs to remake the games to make them good. You just need fans who are passionate about translating and keeping the series intact. I bet I'd make a killer RE4 or SH2. Plenty of remakes have been fantastic.

Sure, there was magic in the original ideas, but it's not like any of them were from singular people. Sometimes, people just get lucky or have the right synergy. Resident Evil 4s story was written in three weeks after being started from scratch multiple times. You mean to tell me no one can improve on that? No. I love to fanboy my favorite games and series as much as the next person, but none of them are untouchable god level games, even as original titles. Bloodborne in present day proved that. So did Elden Ring. Especially when someone already has a whole game to work off of as is the case in remakes.

The Dead Space remake will be fantastic from what I've seen.

If does deliver, this year is gonna be 3rd person survival horror heaven for us.

It's quite interesting to see what is effectively the same game (DS & CP) go head to head. I assume the publishers were keen to be first to market, but it surprises me that Dead Space will come out a month later, after Christmas. I wonder if the smart decision would have been in holding off longer if you can't hit the busiest sales period of the year a month after all your fans bought basically the same game.

I would presume any promo Dead Space does in advance will sell more copies of CP as people who really want to play Dead Space over the holiday will just buy the game that is Dead Space in all but name. This could be as bad a decision as dropping Titanfall2 between COD and Battlefield.

I am personally hoping the Calisto Protocol is good, I'll pick it up, if so. And I'll probably not want to dive into Dead Space straight after, so I'll probably wait until it's on EaAccess. I'd probably not buy the remake at all unless it reviewed spectacularly, as I've already played it (assuming it's not significantly different to the original) and am not desperate to do so again, but not making Christmas and having almost the same game launch just before doesn't help.

Assuming the Calisto Protocol reviews well, I'm not sure that Dead Space won't be dead on arrival. Really interested to see what the video looks like - and particularly what people who have followed both games think - maybe I've got it wrong and the Brand name and people's fondness for the series will make a big difference.

This will be the first truly 3rd party AAA next gen game no ?
I take it you mean next gen ONLY?
Cuz The Callisto Protocol its spiritual successor is coming first.

If if you do mean next gen ONLY.
Forspoken
Plagues Tale Requiem - AAA status pending.
Gotham Knights

Third partys really havent committed to nextgen only just yet.

I din't know what the consensus is, but i liked the tone and vibe of the first one more that the second game.

I want a crossover with the Callisto protocol.

I prefer that it belongs to the same universe, than the nonsense that Callisto protocol is from the PUBG universe

Glad it's next gen only, hope they take advantage of that. Will be interested to see how it compares to the callisto protocol.

I'm a little bit let down. I expected graphics to be on the level of say Demon's Souls since it's next gen exclusive, but a lot of the textures looked low res and the shadows, lighting and fog effects didn't really blow me away.

I'll still buy it of course but yeah, Callisto Protocol looks better visually despite being crossgen.

It doesn't look good enough for just a graphics remake.
The original did not age too much honestly. This needed a simple 4k120 remaster + dualsense and 3d audio. Nothing else.

People go angry over part1 and horizon1 but this is fine?
Part1 at least is a tech marvel....

In my eyes, Horizon1 aged more than Dead Space 1 despite not being as old.
How are developers supposed to decide what is good or not to remaster?

Did you watch in 4K?

Did you watch in 4K?
I watched the stream (will watch 4k version on my TV later) but I could see that some of the textures close to the camera didn't look very good.
Textures on The marker, a shot where the camera moves along the wall before centering on Isaac showed a pretty bad concrete/metal texture were some of the ones I noticed.

It looks good overall, but not "next gen only"-good.

Yeah, I'm underwhelmed

Callisto looks much better, imo.

Doesn't look like a huge leap from the original game. I've recently played 1/2 in 4K/120hz, so there's no nostalgia googles here.

Animations seems a little stiff, doesnt look like environments were upgraded that much in terms of geometry ...

I think this is a case of "putting it on a new tech doesn't make it look next gen automatically"

Making it next gen exclusive doesnt make much sense, I dont see it

Interesting that the Steam page makes no mention of Origin. I wonder if this is an error or will EA start ditching it next year?

It looks good, and you can def see the updates in terms of textures. The problem is that the orig game, at least on PC at max settings and 4k, looks surprisingly good still.

I will be surprised if this is next gen only to be honest.
