Wow, seems everything is moving fucking fast.
Dem Disney bucks at work. Some people out there will not sleep until this is resolved.

Hope it works out better than Willow
Willow was awesome.
Yeah, that was okay - not great though. I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable giving him the reins here.
Ron Howard is a serviceable but unremarkable director. He'd probably do a fine job.
it'll be his magnum opie

Does this movie really need to get made that bad?

Rush has a 75 Meta, 8.6 user avg (meta), was 89% fresh, has an 88% audience score on RT and an 8.1 on IMDB.
It's definitely what one would consider "great", when looking at 5 very popular review aggregators (critical and user score)
I'd personally lose a bit of my soul if I said rogue one was "great".
Serviceable movie with decent action, horrendous script ( nothing new for Star Wars granted ) and bland characters.

dumb people maybe
You think it's a better option to flush the hundred million plus spent down the toilet instead?
My dream for 30 yearsMaybe this gets us Willow 2: The Willowing
Wes Anderson should be on this. This is his big chance.
This isn't going to magically become a Ron Howard movie, just like Rogue One didn't become a Tony Gilroy movie
They're getting a pro to line shit back up with the screenplay the way Kasdan/Kennedy want. Whatever Howard does is likely not going to be enough to either take Lord & Miller's names off the credit block, or get his name put on it.
If they get him, they're getting Opie to coast this over the finish line and into the editing room where they can cut things into the shape they want. That's it.

Lucasfilm. Disney doesn't have any creative control over Star Wars. I don't know why people insist on this assumption that Disney calls any shots over there. This is not new information.
They just need someone to put the pieces together competently. Howard could do this in his sleep.
