Death Stranding 2: On The Beach is finally available on PC. As you would expect, the PC version of Death Stranding 2 features a ton of visual options for all sorts of PC configurations, but how does it look with the graphics cranked all the way up to 11?

In this video well compare the visuals from the games first hour between a version running on a base PS5 set to quality, which features an upscaled 1440p to 4k resolution capped at 30fps, and the game running on pc with all its settings maxed out and DLSS enabled, which gives us a buttery smooth 60fps at a native 4k resolution. It also features an optional ultra wide resolution if that's your thing.

Did they record the PS5 footage in HDR? The PS5 footage looks dull just like HDR in a SDR container.
Something like that surely? The balance and contrast are a mile apart between the two. There's no way the PS5 version inherently looks as bad as this recording makes it look... right?

I still haven't finished it, but the opening scene they show looks nothing like that at all on PS5 Pro and there wouldn't be a difference between base/pro on that front.

  • Death Stranding 2 on PC is, once again, proof of the Decima Engine's versatility and power.
  • The main difference between the PC and PS5 Pro versions is ray tracing, which is used exclusively on the PC for reflections and ambient occlusion, although the game doesn't take full advantage of it due to its environment.
  • In terms of resolution, the PS5 Pro uses PICO, the Decima Engine's proprietary upscaler, while the PC still holds a slight edge with DLSS in certain areas, such as hair rendering.
  • The PS5 Pro shows some differences in level of detail, being slightly superior to the PC version at specific moments.
  • Thanks to DLSS, we can achieve frame rates above 120fps at 4K resolution with all settings maxed out on any card in the RTX 50 series.

What is downgraded?
Foliage reflections seem to be toned down to the point of nearly missing when RT reflections are on.
Not sure if I'd call that a downgrade though considering how bad they are when done with SSR anyway.
