And really, that Primer time-travel chart is just the simple basis for the movie itself.

it says that the person should "avoid clashing with his double" but in the movie itself, a character decides to clash with his double.

I haven't seen Deja Vu, but Primer was really awesome in a mindboggling sort of way. A very good take on a "realistic" time travel scenario.

Primer definitely has a solution. No it's not clear and you have to pay very close attention over multiple viewings to get it, but it's definitely there. People on the official Primer forums have figured it out very clearly.
