Destiny 2 beta codes and preload is up (for PS4)

Preordered on amazon yesterday evening still no email with code just the email right after with order confirmation. Kinda sucksssssss.

It'll transition to an open beta, too. There's no indication on the official site that it'll be rolled out differently and the Nvidia promotion also mentions "early beta access" (emphasis mine).
 
If I just walk into Gamestop tomorrow and pre-order, will I get a code right away? I'm starting to get anxious waiting for Amazon to email me a code.

If you're really desperate for a key today, you can buy one for around a buck on various key reselling sites.

Kinda funny how they gave me one for preordering the PS4 Pro...I mean, I don't have a system until that comes in, but thanks?

And why did they give me 2 codes?
 
I ordered from Amazon, waited about twenty minutes and it never came to my e-mail and then had a chat with customer support and they gave me my codes within a minute or two.

And then immediately after I find that you can just get in the beta really easy by going to the Japan store on my Xbox One. lol
 
Why is that I don't need a code or anything to download the beta?

However, I keep getting 'cannot download' at the start. Asia PSN here.

japan and hongkong psn store, beta is available for all players, no need pre order.

For those who need code, use a new email address and register psn hongkong account, enjoy the beta!
 
redeemed my code on PSN. got another code from amazon instantly and will use that for the PC beta. already linked my bungie account to blizzard. not decided what platform i'll buy it for but preferably PC. will decide once i've played both betas.

not entirely. we have seen standard PS4 footage. going by that IGN footage i hope it's a standard PS4 because it doesn't look too great. if that's PS4 Pro people are gonna be disappointed.
 
so i downloaded it but it was only a ~680MB download.

what's the point in this "preload" if i'm just downloading a "client" and will need to download the actual game data when it goes live? or will we be able to download the game closer to the beta starting time?

I dunno why people keep getting confused about this with the small initial download size.. The initial download, the one that is small, allows you to launch the game after that one is is finished, then after that download is done, it downloads the rest of the beta in the background... other games have done this, allowing you to play a demo/small subset of the game while the rest downloads in the background.

Check your downloads, it should be downloading the rest of the beta.

when i launch the game it says it's not live.

nothing is downloading in the background. at least that i can see.

In the notifications for your downloads, when you click on the Destiny 2 beta, does it show one small bar and a long bar next to it? The small one should be fully white as you downloaded the small size of the beta already/able to launch it and the one on the right should be filling up as it's downloading. Not sure why it isn't, at least that's how it went with my beta download.

nope there isn't anything in the downloads. i'll try deleting it and downloading again.

Well, say like you preorder the PS4 game at Gamestop or Amazon, you'll get a code to input on the Bungie website, and when you go to the code section on the Bungie website after you input it in, all it will say is, "Platform selection for the Destiny 2 Beta is now available! Each code will grant you 1 download key of a platform of your choice." .. So essentially yes, it gives you a option for Xbox / PS4 / PC and you can use multiple codes.

Like when I had 2, it said I had 2 codes available and you can just select any of the platforms from the section, the code you put into the website is pretty much just access to pick the platform you want.

Amazon sent me a code (via customer support email) but it doesn't follow the bungie.net format of 9 digits or the Xbox format. The promo code I was sent has 14 characters, 0-9 and a-z. What is this!?

yeah. when you pre order any Destiny 2 version you get a code from amazon to redeem on your bungie account for early access to the beta. Bungie then lets you select which platform you want to play it on.

my first code was when i preordered the PS4 version which you can see i have redeemed but the second one is for PC but i can pick whatever platform i want.
 
I ordered from Amazon UK, immediately got the beta key (within 1 minute) via email. Then I cancelled the Amazon order, redeemed the key on Bungie website, and got the download. It's installed.
