Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Sorry if this has already been answered, but what are the gameplay/story differences between using your Destiny 1 character and making a new one for Destiny 2...

...also are there new customisation options available in the character creator in Destiny 2 compared to what was available in 1?
 
Shame GAmestop isn't selling this at 9 but at 11. Guess the servers aren't live until that time?

Wow, so I wonder if they added any new hairstyles or anything of that nature. Course I can't check out out because I can't edit my transferred character, which is dumb.

So far, this is the only thread that just wants to enjoy the game, discuss a bit and play together.

I haven't seen anyone shitting on it for no reason, and didn't got spoiled so far.
 
Are there any other deals on the digital version in the US besides Best Buy giving a $10 RZ credit with the digital PS4 version? Kinda sucks they don't have all the preorder bonuses compared to PSN, but I guess I'd rather have a $10 credit.

yeah, it's working on the desktop as well as the app.

On the app, just click your banner on the top right, then click Roster, then click on the member's name that you want to promote/kick and voila'

Ugh, I had a bad feeling this was the case (when I saw how fugly the characters in the gameplay reveal videos were), but it's pretty unfathomable that they didn't make any improvements at all.

I mean god, if you're going to give us such limited options, can they at least look decent?

Yeah, on the plus side, you can create a new guardian, and it will still base your progress off of your account.

since they are not doing an early release at any of the local stores here, my buddy transferred his physical pre-order to a digital code, so he could order off PSN.

Yes, physical copies can be played now, but it does not release on PSN until 12am EST.

Alright the hype got me - about to preload PS4. I own all of Destiny 1 but myself only played like 10 hours (my nephews played some otherwise). I'm pretty much brand new. Just installed discord and set it to PS4. Is Discord voice chat only? like i said complete newb on this kind of stuff and have never used it. Reading the OT it looks like i should also join a clan? Thanks for help anyone can give i just want to have things setup for later tonight!
 
I'm fine with valid criticism of the game, I'm sure there will be plenty of issues, this is Destiny after all.

I don't want to be part of discussions hammering the game before it's launched though, especially when a lot of these discussions are without context and with people that don't care that it is so.

I want to enjoy D2 without dealing with all that shit, so I think I'm going to stay in here.
 
Is it wrong that i'm super bummed by the same character options in D2?! I mean I know my guardian will be suited up with a helmet 90% of the time... but man i want more! It's really sort of shocking they just ported over the exact, same old shit. :/

Cant help much on discord as I just joined myself and am only using the monile version of it, but yeah you should join a clan. Gaf has a bunch of options.

Guys, it is canon that Humans, Awoken and Exo in the Destiny universe can only have one of seven set face shapes and one of fifteen hair styles that can never ever be changed.

So at the beginning
there are some sweet artworks of your accomplishments of destiny 1, like defeating Krota, doing the house of wolves story line, that kind of stuff..
havent played a lot yet but the most significant thing was
your character screen is the exact same as the one from destiny one, which means, all your characters are still there just... level 1 lmao
which i actually liked

So far im enjoying the game!

Voice chat is disabled by default with random players though, so I'm not following.

It is bullshit that story missions don't have optional matchmaking.

Why do you want matchmaking though? Because the missions are too hard...?

Because they are easy so matchmaking is unnecessary. They are tuned for 1 player to do themselves. Raids, nightfalls, etc. are tuned for a group of players.

They are easy enough to do solo? You dont want randos ruining the experience by running ahead, jumping cutscenes, staying afk and preventing wipes?

I mean.. randos being randos..
 
To those with the game, how much of the silly tone in the trailers is present? I get that vanilla was a bit too self serious, but a lot of the pre-release media has been very goofy and "meta" / breaking the fourth wall.

The characters in Destiny should never use the word loot, nor care about it in the same way the player does.
