Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Are the factions back this time around? I remember joining a faction and grinding out a lot of time in patrols and strikes to try and get a particular shader that I thought looked awesome.

No, you have people on each planet you can level up, with Tokens you get from doing stuff on their planet.
Vanguard and Crucible are back, but you get Tokens for Strikes/PvP, instead of XP too.

I've only had a few hours to play, but I'm really liking what I've played so far. Seems much better than the first Destiny early on.

Far along Story stuff

Just wanted to say the almighty looks sick as fuck when you board it. I'm loving the scale of some of thesde missions

Yeah that was my favorite mission of the game. The visuals when you're outside at the start of the mission are just gorgeous.

I think I have a problem. I am obsessed with Public Events.

Same lmao. I keep doing a loop with the ones on Titan.

Which stuff/modes have matchmaking out of the box? Is there matchmaking for story content (after first playthrough)?

And is there really a LFG tool in-game?

Is there any way to skip the first mission when making new characters? I want to try the other classes but having to play through those pointless missions is killing my drive to do so.

Healthiest obsession you can have in this game. I've still only beat the heroic version of two

I know it's not for everyone but I'm really enjoying this Crucible pace and format. Only thing is having an even basically coordinated team versus a team of people who run off solo into a meat grinder is all the difference in the world. It should be fun with GAF groups on comms :)

I am working on my rageability, trying to think about what lost me an encounter rather than just call bullshit as may be my instinct. :P I want to put in the time to get decent from the get go this time around

Same as D1. Strikes and PvP. None for Nightfall (but it say it'll have the LFG stuff when it's ready) or Story Missions.

The LFG thing isn't in-game yet. I'm not sure when it will be, I assume soon.

I'm quite enjoying this game atm. I enjoyed Destiny 1 too but at least with this game, I feel like I have something to play for, like there's a reason for doing everything I'm doing now. In the first one, I felt like all I did was play the game to shoot things and look cool. Now with a coherent story so far, the game feels much more enjoyable.

just get it over with lol

Nightfall Guided Games Beta: September 12th, 10AM
30-50% of players will be given seeker access, depending on clan participation in Destiny 2 during the first week.
Nightfall and Raid Guided Games: September 26th, 10AM
Target: 100% of players will be given seeker access.

What's the trick to beating that public event with this tank thing that drops down? Best I could figure is that you hit his legs and then he falls down, but I do almost no damage. I was playing with a small group of low levels and he went from almost 100 to zero health , but I didn't know why. There's also a bunch of bubbles with things in them, but no idea what they do

Yeah I'm liking Crucible more this time around.

I played some rounds of competitive and found out that I really, REALLY like the idea of Survival. Then again maybe that's because I happened to win all 3 matches, though the other team got real close to coming back.

Vostok is one of my favorite maps so far, very cool atmosphere and I like how open it is.

Take the orbs that appear when you down the tank the first time to the 2 shield generators on one of the bubbles and get the scorch cannons. Once you knock the tank down, shoot it's glowing orange neck.

So that's what the orbs were for. I was using them to punch the tank, lol

After loving the original Destiny I wasn't sure I was going to get this one but I got it as a belated birthday gift from my fiancee so I'll be online tonight to start the campaign.

If anyone hasn't started the game or just wants to fuck around in the early going you can add me on PS4 @ TJ_Electronica

Just popping my head in here to say, first impressions, this game is great fun.

I don't really like the new menu designs and stuff like that, it all feels weird, but I'm sure that's just because it's different, I'm sure I'll get used to all that. Actually playing the game though, getting out there and exploring the EDZ?

Great fun.

I'm only a few hours in, but damn there's loads to do. Missions, adventures, public events, NPCs to talk to, items to scan for little lore tidbits, loot chests everywhere... It's a busy game.

The guns already feel cool and generally quite unique, even though I'm only burning through Greens just now. That's a nice touch that I never expected. Looking forward to getting my hands on some Legendaries.

I'm having a good time so far. Early impressions are very positive. Now I'm off again, for fear of spoilers!

I would really love to be able to rewatch some of these cutscenes at will.

Aw this is great. I remember when Walkers were this tough

When you pop open one of the legs so he falls down, sheaths around his "neck" expose an orange glowing weak point you can hit for massive damage.

The bubble things regard the Heroic version of the PE:

Each time you expose the walker's weak point, it'll drop some Arc Charges. Bring and deposit these arc charges into the receptors on the side of each bubble shield. When they are all down, the Heroic activates and a second walker spawns. Inside the shields were Scorch Cannons, which you can now use to make short work of both walkers. Fire and hold down the trigger to charge the blast.

No, I think you're onto something, Survival is my fave mode so far.

When both teams are all alive but out of remaining lives, it's a real shitjustgotreal.jpg moment.

Well I liked what I played yesterday. As a self loathing Destiny 1 addict and pissed off graphics whore, this is actually a pretty decent effort. The campaign has cutscenes that flesh out the villain and takes its time setting up the story and the new world. The walking sections were a bit much but they give the game's campaign some of that solo focused feel the first campaign lacked. They feel like actual single player missions, not those coop lite-strikes missions of the first game. Let's hope there are some setpieces later on in the game.

Did my first public mission, it was good to see the game showing a timer and the location of the public event on the map. Really like the fast travel feature. Loot has been consistent but that was not the problem in the first game before you hit level 20.

I dont like how the subclasses have been streamlined and stripped off of any depth. its ridiculous. PvP was poorly balanced not because people were rolling customized classes. It was broken because of bungie's refusal to nerf shotguns and buff Auto rifles. it was broken because of their shitty SBMM netcode. this is just typical Bungie's way of fixing shit completely the wrong way. i have never seen a developer this stubborn and stupid.

Graphics are awful for a current gen game. this looks worse than TLOU on PS4. Worse baked lighting. Same texture quality. Same level of geometry. Rock and ground textures are just PS3 quality. Playing this immediately after the gorgeous BF1 DLC maps is an eye sore. the first level was stunning though.

I think Bungie's decision to blame the lack of 60 fps was a genius marketing ploy. It turned gamers against each other with PC gamers making fun of shitty console CPUs and left console gamers too dumbfounded to pay attention to the last gen graphics. Everything from the drab almost baked feeling lighting to the texture work and materials feels a gen behind. You look at AC Unity, Battlefield and Battlefront and they simply look a gen apart.

Is the Pro situation only 1080p? I haven't had the game crash once in 4K.

From what I've read there's no consensus. I'm at 1080p for what it's worth. Tried disabling Boost Mode, HDCP, rebuilding Database, restoring licences.

No consensus on what models of PRO are affected either. Range from Launch Pros, last few months, and even the White PRO's bundled with Destiny 2.

If you do it fast enough, you should easily get Heroic Public Events every time the tank drop event occurs.
Yeah, I've become pretty good at doing it singlehandedly while the blueberries are obliviously burning down the one walker. Dodge and slide help haha.

I may have done the same until I realized there was generators for the shields haha

Hmm...so you kill him without the bubble guns the first time? And if you do that fast enough a second drops down that makes it harder?

No. You unlock all of the bubble shields around the scorch cannons to START the Heroic version, which drops down a second walker. Killing both completes the Heroic.

If you kill him at all before starting the Heroic, it just completes the regular version (you missed the chance for the Heroic). If you fail to kill both once the Heroic starts, you fail altogether.

edit: Emphasized all because you could put the charges into the shield generators and unlock just one of the scorch cannons, use that cannon to kill the first walker, event complete. No Heroic

Yeah it gives intense moments when there are no more lives, encourages smart play of heavy, and can lead to comebacks.

Totally forgot this mode was in the game, but damn I'm glad it is.

Can someone explain how infusion is different this time please? I have things that I should be able to infuse, they are higher power level, but they don't appear as an option. Same weapon archetype, higher power, but they can't be selected. I'm confused.

Hmm can you post a screenshot?
