Karnstein's armlets and Winter's guile are great exotics, though they aren't sub-class specific. Same goes for Nezarec's sin. I've heard good things about crown of tempests for Stormcaller and Ahamkara skull for voidwalker.
You are truly blessed by the gods of RNG. I pissed away around 200 tokens today in hopes of getting it.

Sins of the Past is superb, glad you got it from the raid. Ghost Primus is very good for pve/raids, not so much in pvp.
Sith Lords have an exotic helmet called The Crown of Tempests, Blinklords have 2 - Skull of Dire Ahamkara and Nezarec's Sin.
There is also another exotic helmet called Eye of Another World which isn't class specific. All the helmets are great.
Gloves - Winter's Guile, Sunbracers and Karnstein's Armlets.
Boots - Lunafaction boots, and Transversive Steps.
Basically warlocks have the best selection of exotics, except the chest pieces which are trash, just like the Dawnblade subclass.
Yes, the hard cap is still 300/305.

Nezarec's isn't specific to voidwalker. You can trigger its effects using void guns.

For real though, the only solar sub-class worth playing is Nighthawk gunslinger.

*about Dawnblade, it's not bad. Starfire Protocole is decent for two stickies, despite the nerf in PVP. And Sun Bracer is fun in PVE and quickly regenerates your grenade after Melee Abilitying. The health regen isn't the best but still a health regen abiltiy and it's quickway to self-heal land and create a Rift for you team.
But I am still a Voidwalker main.

The best looking sets don't have recovery, and the sets that do have recovery (Io set and Road Complex) look very plain and don't play well with shaders.
I have my Titan on 2/4/8 with Iron Banner gear + Actium War Rig and my Warlock also on 2/4/8 because I sacrificed two points of recovery for two points of mobility for those snazzy Arms of Optimacy and Hood of Optimacy.
Hunter just feels tied to to the Io or Road Complex set... Not having any recovery is a serious disadvantage in any content.

Go with what you like the best, or which perks will help the subclass you're running.
Speaking for Hunter armor:
The Flux chest piece goes with the Arcstrider.
The Rigs go with the Nightstalker
The Nighthawk goes with the Golden Gun.
Each class has exotics that correspond with one of their subclasses, but they are by no means "required." Which class & subclass are you running & did you have some exotics in mind you were trying to decide between?

Your right, there is NO way to tell. You basically just have to keep checking the roster list from the Destiny app every few hours to see who is playing and get an idea for what their LL is. Communicate with those in question and go from there...

People always forget about the effect when I tell them, so I just stopped trying. My being able to throw a grenade like every 30-45sec feels more helpful.
destinytracker website shows play sessions with dates/ time for pvp and pve, you can look up by GT/PSN id.
I love this thing. I used tons of Fusions in D1 but none really clicked yet in 2 until I got this.
The Pulse is really great too, which was another weapon I loved to use in D1.

I really want Lunafication boots. I tend to use rocket launchers and being able to instantly reload and heal on boss fights would be great.
But no, teh only boots I've got (twice) are Transversive steps, arguably the worst exotic in the game (for Warlocks at least. Hunters have some awful trash exotics).
I have the vampiric gloves though, which are cool.
The angel wings chest thing is good fun too, though probably not the best in hard content. Shooting stuff from a ridiculous height then phoenix diving for health regen is an interesting alternative playstyle. Feels very cool in public events.

Lunarfaction Boots' main problem is that it requires you to step out and back into the Rift. Just standing in the Rift doesn't reload a 2nd time.
And it's a problematic Exotic that requires you to COMMUNICATE with the team about it . I'm not a fan. If your team doesn't know the quirks about it, it is a useless Exotic.

Both Stormcaller and Voidwalker have crazy good exotics. I never play Dawnblade in large part, because the exotic synergy with the other two subclasses is much better.
Stormcallers have Crown of Tempests, just for them and they can take advantage of Karnstein's Armlets as well. The armlets actually trigger their effect when using super making you unkillable even against a prestige nightfall boss. They can obviously also take advantage of other exotics as well, but those have distinct synergies with the Stormcaller.
Voidwalker has even more option Nezerac's Sin is excellent, if you can stay on the offensive. Its important to not the perk on the helm works both with void ability and weapon kills. If you have Winter's Guile and pop devour you become a slap happy killing machine. The Skull of Dire Ahamkara will regen at least half your bar with six nova kills. Its very strong in Public Events and really nasty prestige Nightfall groups.
I thought my five Inaugural Address was bad. That's really frustrating I imagine.

I use almost full Road Complex with the New Monarchy Diamond shader (and the Nighthawk which matches well with it too) and that looks pretty good. Most of the Hunter stuff does look awful though

Gensym Knight set from IO 100%, Modded it for Stormcaller. + got appropriate Exotics.
Exodus Down set from Nessus is now 80%, missing the Gauntlets. But I got Karnstein Armlets to fill Void for my Voidwalker set.

I've done 31 Vanguard ranks and still no curtain call. I thankfully got a Sins of the Past last week. All my Warlock needs is the robes, but those have been impossible to get.

The RNG is the RNG. I finally got a curtain call last week, then got another one on the next rank up three seconds later.
My last three exotics have rolled out to transversive steps..... While I was wearing transversive steps.
Sill no manahanran or whatever that scout is that everyone loves.

Very fun kill. Sweet Business/Psionic Realm/Rally Barricade may be my new favorite role for the encounter.
Ha that's a lot. I hope they make some changes to the next IB so that people are less frustrated with their rewards.
I didn't think it would be possible for me to get the full set on any character so I didn't devote all packages to the same one. Got the cloak, gloves, and chest for Hunter, boots and helm for Titan, and every weapon except for the auto and scout, 16 total packages (edit: all at 300, and some dupes to infuse stuffs). I was actually fairly happy with the haul and a few of the weapons are honestly pretty great.
