Man, even the limited edition has lame box art. Who in the world is designing this stuff.

Anyway, can't say the trailer did much for me. Only part that made me crack a smile was at the end with Cayde mentioned loot. I can at least relate to that bit. Honestly, I'll take the lighthearted, more humorous tone that started with Taken King rather than something too serious. We've already seen that with Destiny during its first year and it was terrible. Give me a simple story that remains in the background of me shooting stuff for loot. And I need to see the gameplay to see if that holds up.

But seriously, I don't know how some of you guys are already tossing in hundreds of dollars to pre-order something blindly. Activision doesn't even have to try anymore.

So they put a robot Deadpool in the trailer?

Is the CE out of pre-order on Amazon instantly or did they ever put it up?

Huge fan of Destiny here: I won't pick Destiny 2 at all. The franchise is basically dead for me now. Had fun while it lasted these past 3 years. Good luck for anyone staying. I hope you guys don't need to spend over $250 for the full experience like I had to.

I'm fucking seething that the LE is Gamestop only. Holy shit...

Why the FUCK would you fucking making the middle edition only available AT ONE FUCKING LOCATION YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES!?

Good thing then that game is 5 months out with extensive marketing and testing plan in place.
Extensive plans? You know this is Bungle, right? I'm getting it day one because I loved the Destiny gameplay but that trailer was objectively terrible.

They've shifted from having a sci-fi fantasy mystical feel to a much more generic, quirky action sci-fi feel. I don't have really as much hype for this.

Don't jump to gun too quick. Destiny's lore and in-game feel still is extremely high fantasy sci-fi.

In my opinion the trailer represented the two playerbases, people that give a shit about the lore and the universe, and people that are in to blow shit up and get loot. The game is for both.

How are people so excited just over this? Wtf

Imagine your favourite game in the last few years. Now imagine it's sequel gets announced. Do you become less excited because the initial cgi trailer for the game isn't the best thing ever, or are you still excited because it's the sequel to your favourite game in the last several years?

Destiny 1 is deeply flawed game. But there's a lot of people who didn't really care and played the game continuously for the last couple of years.

I feel like they could've included a bit of extra footage in the teaser and dated it and there'd have been no need for this one. Disappointed.

Is that even Gina Torres as Ikora? They brought her back for one line? What a waste.

Glad to hear Lance back though.
Lol they recorded these lines probably around the same time as the lines for the actual game. All three actors (Fillion, Reddick, and Torres) have come back multiple times for content drops in Destiny 1. Even some of the other NPCs have recorded a handful of lines here and there.

How this is a waste, I have no idea. It fits her personality and her being a Warlock.

I like the fact that the trailer explains the story but the trailer ifself sucked.

Bungie still can't nail a good trailer, most of them feel like a toy propaganda.

Seems aimed at the OG Destiny audience. Can't blame em but I'm literally in the "don't give a shit" camp ATM.

Maybe the gameplay reveal will be exciting.

I added the press release into the OP. Not much new in here, but:

DESTINY 2 ANNOUNCED: BLOCKBUSTER SEQUEL TO THE BIGGEST NEW CONSOLE VIDEO GAME FRANCHISE LAUNCH OF ALL-TIME SET FOR SEPTEMBER 8
Mar 30, 2017

Gameplay World Premiere Set for May 18

Pre-Order for Early Access to Upcoming Destiny 2 Beta†

First-Person Action Game Welcomes PC Players to the Destiny Universe

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Bungie and Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), announced Destiny 2, the sequel to the internationally acclaimed Destiny, a first-person action game that takes the player on an epic journey to defend humanity from annihilation. The official Destiny 2 reveal trailer, "Rally the Troops," debuted a character-driven glimpse at Destiny 2's story today. Additionally, the first hands-on gameplay reveal livestream will be broadcast around the world on May 18. The broadcast will showcase a variety of fun, action-oriented activities within Destiny 2, and will highlight the brand-new, epic adventure waiting for players. With a fresh start for all players right from the opening cinematic, Destiny 2 will expand across the globe with a worldwide release on September 8. Destiny 2 will be available on PlayStation®4 systems with additional, timed exclusive* content, Xbox One (PlayStation®Plus or Xbox Live Gold subscription, respectively, required for significant features), and for the first time in Destiny's history, a new platform to enjoy this universe will be offered. Destiny 2 is coming to PC!

"Destiny was the biggest launch of a new console video game franchise ever. Along with our incredibly talented partners at Bungie, we are focusing on making Destiny 2 even better, with state of the art first person action, an awesome new story, great characters, and thoughtful innovations that make the game more accessible to all different kinds of players," said Activision CEO, Eric Hirshberg. "We're also bringing Destiny 2 to the PC platform for the first time. Destiny 2 will make an already great game franchise better than ever."

Bungie CEO, Pete Parsons, said, "The past three years have been incredibly inspiring and rewarding for Bungie. To know that millions of players around the world have forged lasting Destiny memories and even made it their hobby is truly humbling and we can't wait to continue the journey." He added, "We are looking forward to sharing a fresh, inviting story, and with the upcoming Destiny 2 Beta slated for this summer, we are eager to get feedback from millions of players around the world who will get a glimpse of the new adventures that will unfold for all of us. Together, with our partners at Activision, we are thrilled to get Destiny 2 in the hands of players in September."

In Destiny 2, the last safe city on Earth has fallen and lay in ruins, occupied by a powerful new enemy and his elite army, the Red Legion. Every player creates their own character called a "Guardian," humanity's chosen protectors. As a Guardian in Destiny 2, players must master new abilities and weapons to reunite the city's forces, stand together and fight back to reclaim their home. The official Destiny 2 reveal trailer, "Rally the Troops," shows two of the Vanguard, leaders of the Guardians, inspiring the people of the last city in an impassioned (and occasionally sarcastic) call to arms. In Destiny 2, players will answer this call, embarking on a fresh story filled with new destinations around our solar system to explore, and an expansive amount of activities to discover. There is something for almost every type of gamer in Destiny 2, including gameplay for solo, cooperative and competitive players set within a vast, evolving and exciting universe.

Destiny 2 is currently Rating Pending (RP) by the ESRB and will be available at a suggested retail price of $59.99. The product line-up will also feature the Destiny 2 - Game + Expansion Pass Bundle at $89.99 SRP, the Destiny 2 - Digital Deluxe Edition featuring premium digital content at $99.99 SRP, the Limited Edition at $99.99 SRP, and the Collector's Edition, featuring a fully-wearable Destiny 2 - Frontier Bag, Expansion Pass, premium digital content and a Cabal-themed Collector's Box for $249.99 SRP.

I just want the game to capture this feeling:
Destiny-Concept-Art-34.jpg

They nailed the feeling of mystery, wonder, and open exploration in the concept art. But it never came to fruition in the game, and this trailer isn't giving me too much hope. I'll have to wait until E3 and some gameplay footage to pass judgement, though.

As someone with no knowledge of the game's characters:

The "funny guy" isn't funny. Like the writers were trying to do the most generic humour and failed at that

Debating to go with physical or digital. I had physical for Destiny and it was super annoying having to swap the disc every time I wanted to play. Might just go digital this time.

Are Amazon pre-orders up yet?

Just for clarification...

They are NOT requiring a subscription fee for this MOFPSRPG, right?

It's still just BUY to PLAY, right? On PC too, right?

I can get this for the PC and skip the XBL/PS+ sub services, right?

It should be that way, but Activision might do something extremely shady.

Don't jump to gun too quick. Destiny's lore and in-game feel still is extremely high fantasy sci-fi.

In my opinion the trailer represented the two playerbases, people that give a shit out the lore and the universe, and people that are in to blow shit up and get loot. The game is for both.

That's a good point, but the smarmy comedy overshadows and even pushes the other out.

How are people so excited just over this? Wtf

Yeah this was just lame. I was hoping Destiny 2 would deliver better on having a proper story and a more Halo-like tone, but nope. I'll reserve judgement for now, but I expect to skip this one too now. It's sad because I loved every single Bungie made Halo, and Destiny just falls completely flat for me.

The important question is, if I switch to PC will I still get whatever unlocks you will get for having playing Destiny 1 on PS4?

Knowing nothing about the game, I can't believe they're doing the expansion pass again after the shady value proposition of the Destiny 1 expansions.

If the serious and dire tone is being distanced from then that's a good thing. If the characters in the story are enjoying themselves then players most likely will too.
