Question for those in the Alpha: I'll be out of town this weekend, so can I play the Alpha via remote play? I know the Battlefield beta doesn't allow it.

I believe someone said earlier in the thread that there's no remote play in the alpha =/

If no one confirms this in the next 10ish minutes, I should be able to give it a try.

I think that happened to Gaz and I while we were in Devil's Lair, too.

He's doing a legendary strike. It's frickin hard. What's cool is that parts of it appear to take place in the open world, so passersby who are not in your group can lend a hand if they choose to.

The first part is in the open, and seems to drop you in with your firesquad and 3 additional people. Once you entire the facility that most of the strike takes place in, they get phased out.
 
Does any gaffer (preferably) or media site out there have detailed impressions posted? I don't feel like digging through 20+ pages here of code begging, jealousy, and random quips. Basically I'm trying to figure out whether or not to get hyped for this, but to do that I need nicely detailed thoughts and impressions. I've been an avid CoD player since MW and used to do simply ok in Reach.

I played the first mission via remote play so yes it works. They even mapped grenades to left front touch and melee to right front touch, with the map in the middle.

Only wierdness was the dpad wouldn't trigger the emotes for some reason.
 
Woah! That's awesome, if you go to the boatyard area and stay there long enough, "Pike Rider Fallen" will show up and they come on their supped up Sparrows that can shoot!

If you kill the rider, you can steal his vehicle and use it. I was able to actually kill a lvl 11 Fallen with it.

Alright, so while I am still upset about progress getting carried over and no weapon pick up styled MP (which IMO is so much better than loadouts), THIS impression from a Halo vet got me optimistic.

Particularly, the "Halo moments" and the PvP encounter duration (in between Halo and something like Battlefield).

I still am not feeling the ADS and wish it was more like Killzone 2, but it should be a good go-to MP game.

It's too bad we are getting a domination mode, I'd have really liked to see the flow of movement/map control for a TDM or something.

By the way, I'm hearing about special weapons: Snipers, Shotguns mostly. Does this mean you cant spawn in with one? If so that's great news! It means those power weapons are rightfully rare, and this should help balance the game better. Can someone explain this to me?

What I really dislike about MP games where you have loadouts is the whole "play your way, with all these customizations" style. It makes balance so much more complicated. More is less.
 
Have they announced an estimated time when we'll get our Alpha codes in the email? I got one during the theater event and registered that same night.
 
To clarify something, does remote play not work with some games? Thought it was mandatory / a feature for all games (with proper input mapping of course).

Bungie actually did a really good job with balance. The thing with carrying over progress is that the guns scale down. Like if you bring in a bad ass pulse rifle, it does the same amount of damage as everyone else's pulse rifles.

Special weapons like snipers and shotguns you can spawn with a change on the fly, but I think it's balanced nicely. It's not like Halo where they're scarce, the balance comes from everyone's access to them.

The heavy weapon ammo is scarce though.
 
how does the exp system work in this game? whoever kills the enemy gets the exp? hope that's not the case

can you find public events while on strike missions?
