Got to play just one pvp match but man I'm loving it. Maybe partially cause I did waaay better than I usually do (4.25kdr lol), but it felt like it could be the perfect mix between Halo and CoD. I'm personally more into Halo, but there are elements in Call of Duties I really really like.

Kind of excited and not excited about the pve gear in pvp. On one hand, finding something magical is really gonna be magical since you won't just be using it against AI opponents, on the other hand, it could get frustrating if you keep getting matched against enemies with crazy rare weaons.

Definitely a buy though when this game comes out.

Nah it won't be. Bungie has said that they balance weapons, gear, etc when going into Crucible.
 
Has Bungie said anything about any of this progress transferring to the full game or maybe some sort of bonus to commemorate participation in the alpha?

I mean we are essentially working for them for free.

It will not transfer to beta or retail game. They haven't said anything about any bonuses either.

I wouldn't call playing Destiny... "work".

No progress transfer. They haven't said anything about any bonus either. So, I guess you won't be participating? ;)

EDIT: Beaten like I would be in Destiny PvP tonight.
 
I played for a bit now.

-Shooting seems solid.
-Outside areas look nice, but the one inside area I did the mission in was a bit dull looking.
-I dislike the cursor based menus and having to keep pushing button to verify.

Overall I felt it is quite like I imagined it would be. I just hope there will be a lot of exploring in the final game.

I thought the same thing just now, I chose Awoken hoping that something would tell me what an Awoken was, and you know, cool purple people. But so far I have come across a ton of them, a few humans, and I have yet to see an Exo.

My next character will likely be an Exo, if only because they are so rare, that and robots are cool.
 
So... I'm in! So far so OK. But I'm on Remote Play and none of the back touch controls have been put in yet, so no sprinting, no super, no communication. I'll wait till tomorrow after work to really play it. :-)
 
The trailers and such always left me unimpressed but I must admit I'm really liking the game now that I've had a chance to play it.

I don't have any psn friends so was wondering if there's was anyone who wanted to play

Horrible, game seems to be running at 25FPS more or less. Also, graphics are really rough. Yep, I'll pass this one indeed.

And yes I know it's only the alpha. I didn't enjoy how the game plays.

Yeah I noticed that too. It seems certain things work when you press the front of the screen off to the sides but I still can't figure out how to sprint. I can melee and throw grenades tho
 
Played about 40 mins and really like what I see. It controls beautifully as you would expect of Bungie. It's also incredibly polished, this is a game with a colossal development budget and it shows.

Gonna play a lot more this weekend but mostly can't wait to get stuck into the full thing.

Hmm the fps issue might be because the servers are being hammered and I guess different strokes when it comes to the graphics because I think the game looks fucking gorgeous. One of the best looking games of the year easily
 
It's interesting to hear people's Alpha impressions so far. There was a glut of negativity the last month after that first batch of "official" game site previews went live. It's great to hear how much genuine enjoyment hardcore gamers are having with this after a more extended play session.

i do not like the sound of this at all. does there seem to be any options to allow d-pad selection?

Ditto. Kind of need to sprint with those hive baddies! I'm gonna wait until tomorrow and then play it properly. Happy for anyone to add me if they are also staying in this weekend...psn name is same as here. UK time, mind.

Sliding yes, knife throw is exclusive to Hunter.

That's fine if they don't like it, but I would hate to have my graphical bar set so high that I think Destiny doesn't look good.
 
I have only played the opening story quest so far (twice) and visited the Tower. I really like what I have seen so far. I made a Warlock class Human character. Hopefully I can get some 2 or 3 person stuff going with others since these types of games aren't really what my friends play.
 
Just finished playing for about an hour, including a quick session with former NeoGAF great Wollan. AI appears almost non-existent, and it seems like Dinklage couldn't care less about his line delivery (but he's supposed to be a robot haha), but everything else seems super polished. Hopefully the final game is more than just fetch quests.

Oh I'm with you personally. I think it's damn amazing looking. Retail will look even better I hear. Some of us are just easier to please I guess.
