Attack 51
Defence 142

I'm still looking for special Helmet, Gloves, and Torso armour with higher defence. I have ones with lower defence but all of them provide benefits to the Scout Rifle (Faster reload, more ammo).

Out of curiosity what games have "good AI"? It's a complaint that too many people have yet I don't know many games that have it.

Anyone know if the Beta supports voice chat? I've been talking and talking, and no one has replied

You can only talk to people in your fireteam/party. That doesn't include randoms from matchmaking, gotta actually be in your party.

What's everybody's attack/Defense numbers right now? Trying to gauge whether or not I'm going to get trounced in the event today.

Defense: 150
Primary weapon Attack: 62

Defense: 158
Primary weapon Attack: 57/62

I've noticed that enemies that swarm you on foot (the Hive zombie things and stealth things) will retreat to cover if you hop on something above ground level.

Example: A swarm of Hive zombie things were coming after me, so I hopped on a container to shoot them down from a place where they can't touch me. As soon as I hopped up, they retreated behind cover to try and get me to follow them on the ground where they're stronger.

BTW has anyone done a public event???

I managed to do the one they showed at E3 when they first showed gameplay of Destiny, but there are others besides this one???

I've done 4 or 5 now I believe. Devil walker, the extremely ridiculous regenerating Captain guy, and then 3 or so different versions of 'protect this thing'.

I did one yesterday where I had to kill a captain before he escaped. However, he seemed to be immortal, his health bar was impossible to drain even though he was only a level 4. I literally emptied 300 assault rifle bullets and 12 shotgun shells in him and nothing happened. At one point he just started booking it to the other side of the map, nearly impossible to keep up. And then he was gone and I got a "you fucked up bro" snarky comment from my Ghost.

Me and my fireteam were super confused. I guess it takes more than 3 to take that guy down?

The captain has ridiculous shield health, and he seemed to regenerate super fast. For instance I'd unload a whole clip of AR into him, he'd regenerate all of it during my reload animation. However I tried my MG that had ice damage from the looks of it, and it SEEMED like he was weak to that? The numbers were blue and it was something like 2-3x's what the damage rating on the gun was? A single 48ish round clip destroyed his shields, but again the with reload animation he was up and running in no time. This was solo, so I imagine mixing the right amount of fire with 3-4 people could probably get him down pretty quickly perhaps?

Reading the text when the event happened, it seems like it is a staged event. It mentioned checkpoint 1 of 5, then 2 of 5 when he ran off (which it was already too late, only had like 50 seconds left). But yeah, the ghost gave me the 'you're a damn failure' too. I was sad.

I really have a problem with this setup though. A lot of the boss type battles and events remind me of launch guild wars 2... By that I mean you just spam your abilities (or in this case constantly shoot) for X amount of time that really is X amount of time too long for me. I've been enjoying the game more than I assumed I would, but damn if it doesn't drop to damn near 0 when I hit a boss that makes all previous bullet sponge enemies look like 1 hit kills.

I've only ever tooked out the escaping Captain once, and that was with 4 other random Guardians releasing their supers on him, on top of a ton of bullets.

Any idea if that's how the final product will be? If so, that's kind of weird that I can't chat with strangers at the Tower...

Unless their stance changes, it'll stay the same. I think it was one of those pros and cons of random online players deals. They decided they'd rather not have random assholes ruin others' experiences, I guess is the way to put it haha. Has its negatives, though, for sure.

Halo 3 and Reach on Heroic and Legendary pretty consistently blew my mind. I had some very memorable fights with Brutes and Elites in those games.

Still trying to find a better weapon because at the moment it's got max rate of fire but horrible recoil.

Well, that makes sense. I wish the game supported text chat like MGO. It would make finding new friends so much easier

If they turn on mics for randoms I will stop playing. The last thing I want while I'm browsing the gunsmith is some asshole blasting ICP over his mic or making racist comments everywhere.

Mute everyone. Mic only for fire teams and never change it.

I could see social areas that have an optional open/proximity mic chat ala GTA.

I did some Crucibles today, they really need to fix this moon map with the vehicles.

Two solutions (examples):

1) Nerf the vehicles defense/hp.
2) Allow Guardians to have some munitions for their heavy weapons at the start.

If we applied this kind of thinking to every online games and/or internet features/options, online gaming would sucks big time and the internet too...

How about a simple option for you to mute them. You've been doing it since forever, not sure what your fuss is all about.

Any idea what the materials are for yet? I've got: Strange Coin, 2 Ascendant Shards, 15 Sapphire Wires, 59 weapon parts, Ascendant Energy and 2 Glass Shards. And I have no idea what to do with them

First impression is that I like it. But the combat is not quite as good as in Halo, or at least, it doesn't feel as good. Also the framerate seems low at times, hampering my enjoyment of the gunplay. And the environments feel a bit empty (there isnt much to do?). And the segmented nature of the game seems a bit weird, like counter to the feeling of exploration you'd hope to get from an MMO. Good looking however.

Dinklage's voiceover is alright now though.

So I noticed the postmaster is there to give you items after certain missions. But is there going to be an actual economy to the game? Will we be able to mail items/materials to other players or trade/sell anything?

Is there no plans for clans to communicate and organize in game as well, only out of game like here on GAF or on bungie.net?

I feel like I have so many damn questions about this game lol

I enjoy going into tower or Russia explore mode and just inviting people to my fire team and than do stuff.

Reminds me of early live days when people actually talked.

My guess is you will trade them in for reputation/money/gear. It looks like there were some NPCs at Tower that if you had 40 of some material you could trade it in.

Yeah. I just finished exploring with a few people from GAF and it was really fun. Developers skip over that aspect sometimes.

Why is old Russia so lifeless and barren? Why aren't there more enemies? Why don't they explore, patrol, guard? Right now they are just waiting to die. When attacked they don't swarm, retreat, call in support, etc.

Where is the hidden lore? Why aren't their artifacts of the world before "The Darkness?" Old things to interact with. Only thing there is, is the random ass chests that don't quite fit in. Why not hide loot in caves, under rocks, near rubble, etc?

Game is beautiful though. Combat is Halo. Skills are uninspiring, all classes seem to not need the other. Everyone is a Spartan/Rambo.

I was really hoping to put my PS4 to work in September. I guess it will continue to gather dust. :(

Cool, thanks.

So.... wow, Scout Rifles are kind of God Tier, aren't they?

Yes, yes they are. Especially if you are good at getting headshots.

I agree with this part, at least.

Yup, I did the same and the hive would just retreat to cover. To me the A.I. in this game is pretty smart,I see all sorts of little instances of the A.I. taking cover when need be, or pushing up aggressively when need be. There are a few broken things about the A.I. though, like enemies not following you if you retreat past a certain point, but it's decent all in all.
