I'm talking about all the changes on the whole though. I'm not mad about the exotics stuff if only because I only have a handful that I fully upgraded, but I can understand if someone who just spent all their exotic shards after the new patch feels like they just got punched in the nuts by Deej.

Well, I was looking for a way to stop spending so much time on Destiny and start playing some of the other games I've bought. So. . .this helps.

Posted that to help clear up some misinformation I had detected about how many Exotics one could upgrade each week, in addition to some general confusion regarding the future of your existing Legendary inventory.
My hope is that these systems will provide all players with options to keep up as the player base levels up in The Dark Below.

Despite all the furor, I'm finding myself oddly complacent about this stuff. Most of the time, Destiny is a game I play while simultaneously watching stuff on Netflix and just chilling out. I guess the news of a new grind kind of loses its impact when grinding is all you really wanted or expected.
Yup. Everything except the Mythoclast will be useless, and there won't be any replacements until January, because for whatever reason all of the raid primaries are now only obtainable in hard mode.

That the first time grind becomes easier for new players / newly dropped exotics? MMO MO.
I would appreciate some sort of item or attachment denoting people that did the original grind / raid before it got easier due to new content. Honestly that's Bungies big sin IMO that a lot of MMOs take care of. Give us ships, icons, shaders, and gun shaders for doing things before they got easier.
Over reaction the post. Im sure its not that way. Im sure the speed to get sub 30 gear will be accelerated. This is the way it works. Add level cap nerf previous content to speed up the playerbases ability to play new content.
Do you even know what the attack number means? A 300 weapon is perfect against a level 30 enemy. You will only need higher attack ratings against lvl 31+ enemies.
It's much worse than what WoW offered during Wotlk-Cata in terms of grinding. Hell, you didn't even need to grind anything if you were raiding.(Well, i didn't at the very least... Flasks were dirt cheap and the guild provided the mats due to them selling the BOE epics)

Yea whoever is talking about "MORE" stuff to do is wrong! I've enjoyed this game since day 1, all 3 characters, 200+ hours total. I loved the patch last week and furthered my excitement and love for the game. Some of the decisions of the DLC, re-doing what you've already done? That's not more by any means. This is the first time, for me, where I really just want to complete the weekly stuff and put it away the rest of the week.

Well tough shit to you because we're raising the level cap on those and making it less effective to use your puny rocket launcher in our Nightfalls! Thus forcing you to regrind that Gjallahorn again, for the 3rd time, in our brand new expansion House of Winter!

But all of mine are already fully upgraded (which is the point where I decided to take a break after well over a month of in-game time), and doing so now feels like completely wasted effort.

I think this is our problem right here. I don't know about you but I liked Destiny to a certain degree and I two would call that wasting time. But a lot of people really love Destiny so playing the game - yes, grinding and grinding and grinding - isn' t wasting time for them. They're having fun playing the game, no matter how many times they have to play the same strike over and over again.
And for good reason i am very happy with that and being flooded in gold instead in WoW also.
How is that poster's response not the definition of pedantry? Please explain unless you're busy re-leveling your Exotic or self-justifying or something.

-Exotic gear like two hunter pieces, three titan pieces, two warlock pieces
So.. at least 17 exotic pieces to upgrade that I care about.. 17 x 7000 = 119k glimmer
Not counting weapons stored that got better now and same with exotic gear I semi-care about.
I haven't even counted the glimmer needed for upgrading the perks on all the above and we are stuck with 25k cap.
Then, there's the fact that I have to level up each weapon individually still all over again after flushing all the Ass shards, energies and exp we used up down the toilet.
THEN, also account for Exotic shards that I now need 200+ strange coins of to cover just the above listed weapons and gear.
I can go on. Please don't say that shit is "easy to do or easy to get" because the grinding adds up. Hell, I'd have been fine with having our shit become obsolete if it was further in the future and not so soon, again making all that playtime worthless.
In the end, I'm just going to pick a select few exotics to reforge and use for the raid. I'd rather enjoy playing with my friends or playing other games between the new raid runs
Why reset exotic progress though? That's the only thing people are pissed about and don't get.

Usually when MMO's do this type of thing it's after at least a year and a half. To reset progress is a disgusting attempt at giving your players something to do.

So when Destiny 2 comes out next year (since we all know Activision loves that annualization), I'll have to spend $60 to buy it and then have to spend 6 ascendant materials, 12 exotic shards, 24 sequel commendations, and 48 motes of buyournewgame in order to play the first level.

Why would you ever need to max all of them? Do you expect to use Truth/Red Death/Suros/Plan C/TLW in the raid at the same time? The only things you'll need to max out will be the gear you bring into the raid, and you can only bring one at once anyway. PvP stays the same, and nightfall is level 30 so your already maxed weapons you won't need to change if you just want to use them there.
Still missing the point. First the patch allowed us to use an exotic shard to get exotics to max level, now a couple days later we need another shard to upgrade it further. If the information came out BEFORE the exotic shard requirement many of us would have saved the shard to upgrade.
Now I just wasted a shard for the last bubble of an exotic.
If exotics that already have an exotic shard in them aren't being refunded, the team deserves the ridicule. They knew about how the systems to work, but still decided to hold back the DLC info until after the patch.
Poor handling all around.
This just really adds to my overall frustration with the game. I certainly don't think it's a bad game - I've had lots of fun playing it. I think the leveling mechanic is broken and self defeating. I'm stuck at level 29. I believe I'm the last of my friends to be stuck. The IB was worthless as arbitrarily the items I needed they didn't bother to sell. So for weeks it was grinding for absolutely no purpose - no progression at all. Now the patch means I get the opportunity to grind more on items I've already spent time grinding to level. I'm not sure how this could possible be more of a 'make work' type of patch. I'll still be stuck a level behind my friends and would still have to depend only on luck to catch up. The pointlessness of the grinding is why I've moved back to Diablo.
This post actually made me change my mind on this update. Holy shit this is bad.

RIP all those guns I wanted to try out at some point sat in my vault.
TBH running around with an exotic primary, a high impact sniper rifle and a steady aiming MG is all you need in Destiny, or rockets, personal call on heavy weapons.
All these other guns are just extras.

Where did you see that? At least in game informer the screenshot showed 272. Can you please point me to an official statement that, upon reset, one still starts with higher damage or armor and light. Especially since the damage caps at 323 I can't imagine you are starting at 302 after reset.

Currently you buy legendaries from factions as long as you have the required rank and the required number of marks (which is still time consuming mind you). Now you need to do all of that, but you're limited to buying one legendary item PER RANK UP. That is insane.

It's extremely very disheartening to see that I have to go and max out all of my exotics again when I already did that previously. Why not add an extra node or two and let us keep our XP progress? Why are we being penalized for upgrading our exotics?

I get the reset, but I really think it's bullshit that people who have spent the time and materials to upgrade their gear don't receive any benefit...even a 25% XP transfer to the new weapon would at least take the sting out and put more value on a fully upgraded weapon over one that hasn't received a drop of XP.

This is the issue. You touched on it quite well. You cannot say 'Well you're only supposed to use a few exotics!! It's not that bad, we swear!" What happened to picking a gun for the situation? Hell, Nightfalls pretty much require situation weaponry.
It's complete bullshit on Bungies part. What, in order to be effective in the raid or a Nightfall we have to grind everything out again? In order to use a weapon situationally we have to grind it all over again because you said so?
At this point, I feel, is where players need to say 'Fuck your way, we're not going to put up with this.' and stop playing Destiny in order to make an impact. They may have snared us with the Alpha and Beta, but goddamit they won't snare us any further.
Yes, why would you need to max weapons that you may choose to use depending on the situation. And yes, Nightfall will be level 30, so your weapons will be even more ineffective without grinding them to their new caps.

Sorry man, but I don't really consider "upgrading weapons" to be "content". I think of content as levels, strikes, you know, shit to do.
Plus, you can only really level ONE exotic at a time. It takes days/weeks to level a single exotic unless you play all day long. This just sucks...I have no interest in the huge time sink involved in re-leveing exotics I've already leveled.
