Destiny House of Wolves Reveal Thread

Yeah but Jinjo they're going for the high-percentage shot. What if they show the non-raid activity and people are like BLEH we're out of here.

They will know that quality of life stuff is going to garner excitement and attention
"Oh look Fatebringer 365!"
"I can chase a new carrot!!"

And while everyone's
high on sugar
excited, they will drop the "Ok, here's what we made in lieu of the raid - hope you like it as much as you did all of our weapons and reforging and so on - but if not, see? We're listening!"

cautiously optimistic

But non-raid people don't have Fatebringers to upgrade silly Phenom. :p

I still believe the actual new gameplay content should always come first, since that is what we are going to be playing obviously. Especially in a game that is already really low on actual content.

Sure the new carrots are fun, but that's not gonna get people to play the game again if they already quit because they played all the content to death.

It's nice they're finally adding things that we asked for 8 months ago I guess.

So what order should I be upgrading old weapons in?

I am thinking first order of business should be to get a primary weapon of each elemental damage type to 365, so as to be ready to blast through new Nightfalls with burns on them.

Wonder if Bungie have had the genius idea of adding in new, interesting bounties yet? Doing the same bounties every other day got tiring quickly.

It looks like any time Bungie is going to ad bounties, they are going to attach them to new vendors rather than improve the rotation of what we already have.

However, we could see the following from Petra:

Wanted: Drevis, Wolf Baroness
Hunt her near the Cosmodrome's forgotten shore.

Wanted: Beltrik the Vieled
Hunt him in the Ember Caves of Venus

Wanted: Mecher Obiks-11
Hunt it near the Ishtar Cliffs of Venus

While we obviously have had Wanted bounties before, all of them have taken place during missions. Notably mission bosses or mid-bosses. However these enemies don't really line up with what we're pretty sure are the existing missions of HoW.

None of the above is really close enough to The Terminus, or King's Watch to assume they belong to those missions. So hopefully this means we'll start finding more Bounty-style bounties.

The other bounties shown from Petra were as follows:

Wanted: Wolf Scavengers
Hunt the Scavengers in the Halls of Wisdom on the Moon

Wanted: QueenBreaker Vandals
Hunt the Vandals in the Cinders on Venus

Wanted: Howling Raiders
Hunt the Raiders in the Hall of Whispers on Venus

All bounties shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=EDsjF4PipoA#t=185

FFS, is this a joke? Weekends are when I play Destiny least of all - barely ever. Why not make it available every day?

Unfortunately it's been pretty well proved that giving gamers incentive to come back on the weekends helps player retention much more than weekdays sessions.

It's the same reason we used to see Double XP weekends.

Most people probably prefer playing on the weekends.....particularly PVP'ers I would imagine.

Presumably they want to encourage play thoughout the week, and currently everything is heavily loaded towards Tuesday-Thursday. Makes sense to have a new event that runs Friday-Monday.

This doesn't make any sense at all. That's a pretty lame reason for not including it all week long. It's basically saying that they don't have enough content to keep people engaged the entire week, so we are going to limit the times you can actually play the new content.

It's really more an issue of what order you should upgrade your legendary items in. Upgrading exotics should be an absolute cakewalk, but getting the Ethereal Light to upgrade legendary weapons is actually going to be difficult. So at least starting out you need to plan out what weapons get upgraded first.

I am thinking that I will upgrade Vision of Confluence, then Fang of Ir Yut, and then Word of Crota (I don't have a Fatebringer). That has me covered for primaries with elemental damage. After that I'm not sure.....keep upgrading the other elemental primaries? Move on to special/heavy weapons with particularly useful perks like Black Hammer and Hunger of Crota?

We obviously don't have the statistics that they do, but I'm sure they have probably noticed by now that Iron Banner has peak days. Obviously it's thrown off due to the higher rep gains the longer it goes, but still. I feel like a full week long "event" is too long. two days is kind a sweet spot to me.

I'd much rather they do Fri-Sun than Sat-Mon. I feel like Monday attendance is going to be really spotty.

They just want to keep it special. Cant please everybody i guess.

Should be solid choice yeah. But both Solar. Praedyth's Revenge would be a nice choice also for the sniper rifle.

IMO.

Fatebringer 300 do almost the same damage that a Word of Crota 331... I can't even believe this gun in 365... it will make any other Hand Canon weak in PvE with exception of Hankmoon.

VoC us another gun that is just below Fang of Ir Yut due the 300 stat.

Edit - There is no sniper recoil like Praedyth's Revenge in the game... another that will be a killer void machine in 365.

It makes sense.

Tue/Wed/Thursday will be Raid/Nightfall/Weekly Heroic days. Friday-Monday will be PvP. It's an incentive to do both the PvP and PvE of the game without feeling like you're ignoring one over the other.

Is this surprising? The whole game is designed around limiting when and how often you can do things to force you to play for an artificially extended amount of time.

Why isn't Xur selling stuff 24/7? They just want some things to be "events" that people look forward to rather than ordinary everyday fare.

Trials of Osiris, by all accounts, is just a mild modifier for PVP -- it's not "content" that's really being restricted IMO. If you want to go play 3v3 Skirmish you can do that any day of the week.

No it doesn't. Keep everything thing up all the time, this "schedule " they make for this game is dumb as fuck and just punishes people fir having a life.

Maybe it'll make more sense when we have details of the PvP event. As it stands, I won't be able to participate in the event, which pretty much kills the expansion for me since this is basically 50% of the new content. Oh well.

Raids/Nightfall/Weeklies aren't limited to Tues/Wed/Thursday, so I don't see what this is supposed to mean...

Is Praedyth's Revenge just loved for its high stability, or is there anything else special about it? I got one but only ever used it if I needed a Void sniper.....felt a little on the weak side to me.

This pic from the Destiny game site is actually more interesting to me than the giant shoulder cannon one.

Looks like some platforming in the mix of combat in one of the new story missions. I'm hoping the structure they are on is the top of the giant Vex building on Venus, above the Endless Steps. There's an area that branches off one of the areas on Venus that goes into the foot of that building, and dead ends with a energy spire that runs straight up into the distance. I've long wished we could get to the top of that structure and wondered if that was how we got there.

At any rate it looks quite different than any of the other story missions; while they are not on the docket of reveals, I hope Bungie at least talks about them a bit along the way.

Its the Citadel yeah. Believe people glitched up there already a couple of times.

Yeah, apparently it was remodeled with this most recent patch. Before the last patch it was very blue/purple and had a very clear cut path. That image above is how it looks now, and yes you can still get up there. It does require some crazy good platforming. There are also 3 dead ghosts up there.

I like your style. Probably the route I'll take too while waiting for Fatebringer.

Not sure if this was answered in the stream, but where and how exactly do the new weapons/armor without any Attack/Defense upgrades come into play?

Is it only HoW-strength items plus any items we manually upgrade to HoW strength?

I'm curious what happens if I upgrade an item that I haven't touched yet from pre-HoW. Does the old tree get changed to the new, smaller upgrade tree?

Or what if it is half upgraded? Thanks!

New HoW weapons only have perk upgrades. Pre-HoW fully upgraded weapons don't get reset when you upgrade them further. Pre-HoW partially upgraded weapons get their attack value increased but their upgrade tree doesn't change shape. I think Deej upgraded a partially upgraded Horn on the stream.

Do I get back into Destiny for HoW or do I wait for something more substantial like Comet.....

Dang tough choice for me
If you compare what Destiny was on day 1 to HoW in a couple of weeks, it's a drastic change. If you keep waiting, the game will keep changing. And you'll keep asking yourself the same question.

So to answer your question, yes, HoW is a great time to jump in.

Force you to do the PvE grind lol

And because the hardcore PvP community would unlock everything in ToO within the first day or two.

Old weapons/armor will remain the same, you will need to upgrade attack/defense and perks like always. It's upgrade tree won't be changed.
New weapons/armor will have max atk and defense from the start and you will need to upgrade perks only. It's upgrade tree will only show the perks

Liking all the new changes and Reef stuff. Only qualms at the moment is how much hopping between social spaces there's going to be now, and the fact that my play time on the weekend is more random and limited on the weekends which will screw me for Osiris a bit.

Have they gone in to more detail about if any Legendary armor is limited for upgrading. At first it sounded like it could be anything, but then they only mention the raid and Iron Banner stuff. I think it would be weird if you could actually upgrade regular legendary stuff up to the new levels.

And this is precisely why im finally jumping after having left back during its original launch last September.
Wanted to wait it out and see how things panned out.

So yeah, while I can totally sympathize with the cats who have been playing since day one.
This is ALL new to me tho

Gonna be playing on XB1 and probably by myself for awhile.

Yep me too. Never on during the weekends. It'll be available Monday too, but that's it for you and me my friend.

I guess that is cost of having such a diverse fan base; at most I get 1 and a half to 2 hours a weekday to play, versus the weekend where (If I am lucky) I can get 5 or 6 hours in. This set up actually makes Osiris easier for me to schedule with my crucible buddies than the Iron Banner which needed a lot of time on both ends of the week. You can't please everybody...
