Destiny: Only one area per planet

Are people really thinking the beta has all the earth missions? The jumping to conclusion going on in these threads is crazy

No, but if we saw all of Old Russia then we are going to be backtracking if there are more, which will mean we will get extremely tired of the environments due to their limited size.

Might as well only have one or two areas in the whole game then, amirite?

Not what I'm implying. Once you finish the story you either leave, go to PvP, explore, or grind out the harder missions. The only way you're possibly affected by this is if you're only getting the game for the story/to explore. Any of the other reasons then the lack of planets becomes moot since there's probably going to be a preferable strike on a higher level planet to farm gear to use in the raid. If you play for PvP then you aren't even affected by this. Like it or not, the lionshare of PvE time is end-game stuff most of the time.

There is no invincibility on the warlock and titan supers. At least not on Warlock as I've been killed a plenty before fully casting my super.

Auto rifles are dangerous but scout rifles kill too. I am a beast with the shotgun.

They might as well be. Like the Evade armor ability in Reach, it's incredibly difficult to track the players using the ability. They should make the players wait through an animation that prevents them from moving before performing the super.

I have no experience with Scout Rifles so I can't speak to their performance against the Auto Rifles. Auto Rifles have a faster kill time than Pulse Rifles do which is what is frustrating to me.

While I'm all for being concerned, people thinking they have the full picture for this game are more annoying than the people who don't like it for being a new Halo.

I don't know, I've logged mucho hours in the alpha and beta and am not really tired of it. As long as they have a good DLC pipeline I'm good I think. Can't wait to grind for all that gear mostly. Still day1

Yeah, I'm cancelling my CE pre order anyway

Yea, that'll show em, *rolleyes*. Why do people post things like this? I don't care if you buy the game or not, I don't care what version you buy, I don't even care if you plan to get hosed by gamestop reselling it. Just like nobody really cares if I buy the game, how I buy the game, ect ect ect.

Wasn't there something Bungie said about Destiny having a huge life cycle? Or am I confusing ti with something else? I could have sworn I remember hearing them say they want the game to have years of content

Sounds like a lot of Season Pass and DLC stuff if that's the case

Duh.

Do you pay a monthly fee to Bungie to play this game?

Where do you guys find all this time to play? The beta is easily 10 hours of stuff. If it really is 25% of the game we're talking 40-50 hours. That is A LOT of time.

At least that mostly covers the explorable solar system although it would've been nice if they included Mercury or one moon from each of the gas giants.

Mercury exists in the form of special PVP maps known as the Trials of Osiris.

You will acquire a ticket that will give you limited access to the Mercury pvp. One bounty example is: win 10 games with 1 ticket, or 25 over multiple tickets.

So what about all this? I recall them even talking about these places. They also said each Planet's campaign and area size was as large as Halo Reach.

This proves there's a mercury pvp map. We also know there's a phobos pvp map, and a pvp map on the outskirts of the city.

The maps (normal one + the one you have to access for one othe story mission within old russia) indicate the we've basically seen and had access to most of Old Russia. There might be some blocked off content, but I don't think you should expect random blocked off door to open up new areas similar to the outdoor areas we have seen in Old Russia. Most likely I would expect the blocked off areas to be story mission related, only being accessible during specific story missions.

But everything that has been accessible in the story missions seem to be reachable in explore. The only area's blocked off in explore are the gate (which was reachable in the alpha) and the last raid area.

Well posts like certainly contribute less than my original may have in your eyes.

I'm extremely disappointed if old Russia is all I get to see of earth. Doesn't look like this game is gonna have enough content ... Went from a day 1 purchase to I might wait until its on sale at some point.

Well I mean we're not gonna find out until the game comes out. But I truly think you're setting yourself up for dissapointing, if you think the blocked off areas are gonna lead to new big open areas in Old Russia.

I think it would be bullshit to show DLC concept art as literally one of the first things you show off about the game. That is incredibly misleading and barely anybody is going to find out those areas aren't actually in the retail game.

Meh that doesn't bother me. I know the support will be there, I know they are adding more with dlc and I spent hours with the beta and loved every minute of it.

That....is underwhelming.

This is disappointing and I don't know if I will get the game right away, but we haven't even been able to see all of the old Russia zone yet. I was exploring and have found a couple areas that are populated with level 20 guys so you can't get far into it to explore. So hopefully there is some more content in these zones than what we are seeing at level 8. With that said the lvl 20 guys are the same enemies just higher level, so it's probably not going to really satisfy people.

Those areas just loop into other known areas. I've pushed through them.

All I know is that Destiny 2 will be a great game with a much larger scope. So many games coming out this Fall; I'm thinking of just enjoying them with my limited time. We have Horizon 2, Lords of the Fallen, Halo Collection, Sunset Overdrive, Dragon Age. Shit it's overwhelming. Destiny requires a huge commitment and I am not ready to sacrifice all of the other great titles.

Me and my cousin were cracking up the other night as we played through old Russia. Every mission looked the same. I think if the game had better communication it would help a lot. At least you would be able to talk to other people and BS around.

No you can't.

Seeing as you seem very adament in my wrongness, please do tell me why I'm wrong, rather than just that I am wrong.

It's a 14 minute video, with 11½ of the 14 minutes dedicated to just showing how to get into the place. The vault itself, while very cool looking, doesn't really look like a big open area to me.

What a boring idea to make Old Russia be all of Earth. It's nothing but rusted buildings and hills. I can understand other planets not having a lot of zones, but Earth should have several.

This game has had a lot of bullshit in their campaigning. A lot of what they first talked about and first revealed aren't in the beta and now makes me wonder if they will be in the full game.

damn earth in whole was in the beta that's pretty sad to hear apparently awhile back people found out there is level 20 gear and the second subclass is at level 15. that might be the retail cap. so unless they decrease xp which seems so because i think the moon missions after the one we did was only level 7. that would mean there is probably only ~30 missions in the base game if there are 4 more planets. looking at the crucible there is no standard tdm there is a free for all match type but the others just seem to be 3v3 control 6vs6 control and vehicle control. expansions will add content and probably level cap but ye it doesn't seem like it will have a lot of content. I still stand by my digital prepurchase and will enjoy what is there.

Gamer's that have unrealistic expectations, the time to dollar complex, general gaf pessimsim. In terms of the size of the zones, I just hope that the story is compelling, the setup is pretty promising. It's surprisingly rare to get an optimistic AAA game nowadays, and the atmosphere is well beyond damn near all shooters this year. So I just hope the story is solid and that the exploration is more rewarding (even though I am enjoying just moving about the environment and gawking at the detail). They nailed the most important part, the moment to moment gameplay is rock solid.
