Hey man, sorry for the incredibly late reply. Just wanted to let you it was all there, thanks again!

When it was first announced review copies weren't going out until Monday I thought "Oh,
that's reasonable, the game is online so they want the servers up". After playing for a bit
I realized that's pretty much straight BS. Well played, Bungie.

I still like the game a lot, but the social aspects were pushed way too hard in previews.

Outside of strikes I mostly just get annoyed when other players are around tbh. Patrol in particular is always so crowded there's no danger at all.

Something that is really confusing me is the amount of hate this game is getting. If I were to only look at N4G and see comments I would think this game is both awful and a giant flop not reaching sales goals anywhere. It's really crazy that SO many people want this to fail, I don't really understand. I'm having a LOT of fun with the game but some very vocal people are out there crossing their fingers hoping and wishing that the game fails. I really don't get it.

Every high profile release ever really.

Having a discussion about the game and the content therein. I don't want to speak out of turn if what I'm saying is bullocks. So..... no secret surprises after you finish Mars then?

I have no idea honestly. My understanding is that those locations will not be in the game. Maybe expansions who knows ....

It's not a black and white situation. I like the game but am shocked at some of the omissions, repetition, terrible story and how modular the game feels.

It does not feel like a game by Bungie with an unlimited budget.

The boss of the Moon's Strike? I did it last night and thought it was awesome. I died once, and to knights that had come in from a door behind me. I was level 14 and had a good GAF team with me, though.
Yeah I tried it as a 10 with 2 randoms who thought the best method was to MELEE the boss. Yeah.

Ran it again today with a friend who's a 20 (and another random) and my friend's guns shredded him. Still took us a while but was actually doable and wasn't bad at all.

I think this goes back the whole not allowing MM for raids argument from pre-launch and understanding why Bungie did it that way. I've seen so many people posting around saying this strike should be nerfed, the boss is too hard, there's too many adds, etc... which is what we were saying people would say if they attempted this raid without having a crew that is READY to run the raid. People will undoubtedly run online and scream for the raid to be nerfed. Just have to be prepared and have teammates you know are also prepared and committed to sticking it out. If the moon strike is this hard (even with appropriate gear), I can't even imagine what the raid will be like.

#dontnerfthemoon!

Anyone else notice Sony playing a dirty game? Under what's new it states that everyone of my friends and me have played the the Digital Guardian Edition even though I bought a retail copy.

I noticed this. For a while I thought there were a lot of wallies who paid too much for the game on my friends list before it said I was playing the digital version too.

I'm almost done with the Moon and I've really enjoyed it. Just exploring it in Patrol is so good. Love the design.

I dunno, but I feel like the massive amounts of knights and wizards spawn for anti-camping purposes. Usually they would come out of doors if they were normal spawns, but they just appear out of nowhere surrouding me and killing me.

Once my entire team was on the ground in the middle area, nothing spawned anymore.

We tried him like 5 times.

That's the problem. You have to hide from the laser, but when you do, you're surrounded by wizards and sword knights. It's idiotic.

Gonna have to try out all the classes. Right now I'm on a void walker but I'd love to try a blade dancer or a defender Titan soon.

Defender or striker btw? Any good in the pvp (as good as a void walker or hunter in multiplayer).

Just finished the Moon strike with a couple randoms. The boss fight at the end was fun as hell. I'm really enjoying the game so far. My only complaint is the story being incredibly weak, but maybe that will pick up eventually.

A second public event and a second time of having no guardian help.

What's the fucking point then?

That's a bummer. I always go out of my way to participate in the public events. Have yet to see a single public event on the moon though. Perhaps not enough people to spark one? Not sure of the criteria for those.

Lvl 20 and further is even more fun :P
I'm Lvl 22 now, and this game is even hard with good armor and weapons,
I really like the different landscapes of the different planets,
the mission on the moon with the Sword was also pretty awesome.
Most people say Destiny will fail and will be dead within 3 months anyway.
I'm wondering, Halo was even popular after 5 years on Xbox,
and I cannot believe Bungie will not add additional stuff later, like Missions, Special Strikes or anything which keeps you playing. How is the verdict for you all so far?

You must be new to the internet. Welcome!

lololol, wait, are people having to create their own plot? My god, is it that barebones???

(nice job, btw).

Thanks.

You're probably gonna be the first and only person to read it, but it makes me at least happy that someone did.

Besides, I think the lore of Destiny will most likely shine best in novels. It's a bit sad, but it's something. And I'd like to see what others think of it, too.

That's why you kill the mobs and focus on the boss when you're in the clear. And then you keep moving around so you aren't trapped.

The fight is a gear check, yes, but it's far from idiotic.

Well they already have 2 DLC packs announced.

Just reached the moon and I completely agree - narrative is total garbage. They don't even bother setting up anything beyond "go kill bad guys". Pretty disappointing, really.

Yeah what strikes me is all the talk about this being bungies ambitious new shooter. When it's far from ambitious. A lot of the things it does, a few other games do better. You kinda expect more from bungie and even more so with the huge budget that was thrown at this.

It's still fun and I'm having a blast with friends but when you get to brass tacks, the game is dull and repetitive hell. It kinds gets sugar coated when playing with mates because you don't realise so much. When you are wondering on your own and taking it all in, you really do think that this could of been so much better. Feels like something a brand new developer tried out for the first time, not bungie. That's my take anyway. I didn't pay a fat lot for it and wasn't on the hype train to begin with so it doesn't bother me that much

>shrug<

I don't really know or care what it's bigger than, I just know that I'm not currently playing it and that's like all I want to be doing.

Everyone has their own opinion, but if even one person is genuinely enjoying it on the game's numerous merits, then there's a chance a reviewer might have the same opinion and thus they have no reason to sinisterly hide reviews from the public. There's nothing broken about it. I love it. A bunch of other people love it. We weren't tricked. Some people don't like it. People always don't like stuff.

But no one was tricked. There's no devious sneakiness. They let the planet try out the Beta, as a matter of fact.

Why would they have done that if they didn't want reviews coloring purchasing decisions.

As a matter of fact (I never played the Beta, but) aren't people saying the game is EXACTLY like the Beta? Why would they have let that happen if they then didn't want the game reviewed? Who would believe a review over their own experience that is apparently verbatim the experience of the game?

Demo/Beta != whole game generally. I would expect some variety or sense of progression outside of some numbers. Things to be fleshed out and expanded as the game moved forward.

That didn't happen (though some moments was so close to like Venus), and honestly what it does do, except gunplay, isn't particularly stellar if you leave the bubble.

And that's enough for a lot of folks. I think it's decent mechanically and with a good group of friends it can be incredibly fun when tackling strikes.

But that's a pretty low bar to set, and quite frankly the straw man arguments that people must have been too hyped in the face of criticism is a bit disturbing. For example, I could argue that folks who are saying it's a great game are suffering from purchase confirmation bias, but how do you think folks like you would react to that? Would call out bullshit pretty quick I imagine.

I just don't see why most people aren't actually engaging the criticism and instead are 'attacking'/making it about the individuals levying them.

Edit: Same goes for the constant goal posts. It's just an Alpha, it's just a Beta (I loved both btw), wait until the Vault of Glass unlocks, wait until the DLC in December, wait until the DLC in probably March, and so on and so forth. When are people allowed to be able to voice disappointment?

FakeEdit: I'm speaking of actual criticisms, not 'game is trash' level stuff.

A gear check at lvl 12? Come on. It's too hard.

I mean, you don't HAVE to do the strike to continue with the game.

And yeah, why not at level 12? Considering how quick it is to get powerful in the game, it fits that at least halfway the game tests to see if you're able to kill formerly powerful foes (wizards and knights) quickly.

Does anyone else feel paranoid about logging into bungie.net with your PSN info? Or am I just too worried? Internet security, blah, blah, blah...

Nothing is 100% secure, but there are things you can do if you're worried. Having a secure password (20 characters or more, lower case and upper case letters, numbers, and punctuation marks) helps. Using something like LastPass/1-Pass/Authenticators and also changing your password every few months will help.

It gets better once you hit Venus, better as in there is actually some narrative

I wish the 3 races didn't have exactly the same bodies. I know it's to simplify things in regards to armor, but I wish the Exo's had more robotic looking bodies.

Does anyone else hope (I'm early in the game so humor me)
that the Traveler is the evil one, keeping peace through endless war, with the Darkness is trying to save the universe? The Hive, Vex, etc are only fighting because the Guardians are the aggressors?

Yeah, good points. Is all the grimoire info that important?

In all seriousness, there are a fair number of complaints that are valid. I played the beta and figured what I was getting into...am enjoying it immensely so far. Many others played the beta and enjoyed it base on my unscientific analysis.

But, with any popular "thing" it will bring out a fair share of people who just want to irrationally hate something since they don't think its good/doesn't appeal to them. Because clearly everything should appeal to everyone, certainly if it's popular...otherwise it is just way overrated and those who like/love the popular "thing" are sheep/shills. So yeah...

game needs weapon trading. None of that "your gear is earned" nonsense. they want you to see someone with something cool, message them about it and then go to the strike they got it from to try and earn it. problem is it's cumbersome. trading would better facilitate those interactions and bring life to the wild and tower hub. it could show what you're trading above your head and a person can see that and walk up to you and trade.

I wish my toon looked like the person I made when I was at the character creation screen, not the ape she became at some point between there and importing her into the game world.

I've not seen a single public event.

I think it is because they have too many 'servers', probably cause they were worried about issues. The problem with it is you are not getting anything close to a live world, I wouldn't even call it a shared world shooter at this point. Hopefully, they remove/fix the server issue quickly or people will move on.

For those who've gone far through the campaign, if you can even call it that, do we find anything out about the traveler? A yes or no spoiler tagged answer would be preferred! Thanks
