An application for iOS. There are Android and Chrome-extension alternatives which I haven't used, like Tower Ghost with the same functionality.
I'll speak for Loadouts since it's the only one I've tested. Fire it up and it'll show you all of the weapons you have across all characters + Vault. You can select one or several of these and then chose to transfer them to a character or the vault. No matter where it is, it'll move things around to get it on your selected destination. So for instance if I want my Ice Breaker, I'll open the app, select the IB icon and transfer it to my Hunter or whatever.
More interestingly, you can save custom "Loadouts". You select a bunch of stuff and then save that weapon selection as a load out so you can move that specific group of weapons easily in the future. So for instance I have a load out I named "Arc". If there's Arc Burn on NF, I'll transfer that load out to the character I'll run with. I have a load out for each element, one for Crucible, one for "Pending upgrade" (I use it before turning bounties in), and one for Raids/PoE.
These apps work using the official Destiny API, so nothing shady. If you're concerned about security, remember the Destiny API doesn't have a call for "dismantle", which is why you can't dismantle even from the official Destiny app.

Since I'll be stuck at work during the ToO reset festivities, the only question i have for this afternoon is should I watch Unstable's stream or NGHTLY's?

Oh man, I think that was me that said not to come out. I was so scared you'd run out and get blown up like before.
My hands were shaking so bad during that whole fight. Most tense feeling I've ever had playing a game.

I finally deleted my second Warlock and started a Hunter. Why? Well, Bungie threw so much Hunter gear at me the last two months that I had no choice...
Anyways, playing Crucible as a level 8 with crap weapons is kinda fun...and you get a ton of experience. I'm not good enough to do well but each kill is fun and well earned - shotty's and snipers still rule... I might do only bounties and crucible to get to L20.

It doesn't force you to have to know which character is holding the items you need to transfer. It pools them together by type no matter where they are. It takes away a completely unnecessary layer.
And it's easy to create multiple predefined sets of gear and switch them to a character. You can even designate which items should be equipped as part of the loadout.
