It's Jeff, but you would have to be crazy to think that. It would essentially involve making two different games.Geff Gerstmann says the next-generation game is separate with no cross generation-play, higher player counts etc.
I'll be waiting for that version.Geff Gerstmann says the next-generation game is separate with no cross generation-play, higher player counts etc.
Please do not combine Sci-Fi and Magic. :/

That goes to show how much you know. How about you actually look up the 10 year plan for Planetside 2. They're going way beyond just skirmish matches.
Bungie clearly wasn't ready for a reveal.

do you know if there'll be any cross-platform play? The universe suggests it might be possible?
Geoff Keighley
@winstano That's a good Q, they didn't answer it. Definitely iPhone/console links. Not sure about xbox/playstation cross platform

Seems to be instanced dungeon crawler with possible hubs. FPS instead of 3rd person.Looks really, really great. The only problem is...i don´t know what kind of game it is on a big scale. I know you shoot stuff, so we got Bungie´s 30 seconds of fun! But the rest? Is it like Borderlands? Anyway, looks awesome![]()
Seriously. It's just a completely nonsensical defense of anything. Of course visuals are going to be important to people... you're staring at them for the entire length of the game! Some people have different bars for what they'll accept, but most people do indeed have some standard for which they recognize that graphics are an important part of the gaming package.
And particularly in a reveal when we have almost nothing to talk about except some sparse details AND the visuals, it even makes less sense. We're not playing the game yet, so of course the discussion of visuals becomes even MORE dominant then!
Here are the text messages from the Vidoc. I think it sheds light on how the game will be supported post-launch:

Geoff Keighley's impressions are up. http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/48bn5c/destiny-first-take
I was about ot post this, its a shame but oh well.
That game sounds awesome. How do I play it on my PS3 or xbox 360?
The City = Hub, Get together, the social aspect
Chapter '#" = Single Player
Bounty = Challenges (Weekly)
Strike = Competitive MP, Random Hopper = Jump from Mode to Mode
Raid = Co-Op potion, looks like anyone can join
Faction Wars = Competitive + Co-Op scenario, just like Strike, but you will be tied to your allegiance, and winners get the bounty, give strength/rewards to their Faction (Think MAG pr FFXI in Signet format), Random hopper = Jump from Mode to Mode
Looks like 6 People = Team
So Destiny is a fucking Red Mage, Trade of All Jacks, Not the best in one category over another, yet not worst in category than another
Some people here have to stop treating this reveal as the second coming. I it was underwhelming and a good lesson for Sony to take for Wed in showing some ACTUAL gameplay.
It was a crap reveal, plain and simple.
I'm now convinced that Bungie will show us proper gameplay on Wednesday at Sony's event.
Done already.
It is science/space fantasy like Star Wars.
Which is one reason i think i'm going to love the world...
But that's the part that actually looks cool.

I will never hype a game again...
Graphics looked mighty impressive to me, but I fear that the 360/PS3 versions will be seriously gimped in terms of player count (and that it may in turn gimp the next-gen versions).
If planetside comes to the ps4 then this game will instantly look underwhelming. Which is very possible as Planetside is a Sony franchise I believe.
