In general I think they are still, but Oblivion will likely be the exception due to the nostalgia and brand recognition.
Yep the Elder Scroll is already the best fantasy game franchise and Skyrim also made it the biggest game fantasy franchise so even though this ain't no Elder Scrolls VI but a remake of a old game Elder Scroll game would still be extremely huge no matter what.

Just got out of the sewer and so far I LOVE IT. But damn it's an heavy boy. Getting 70/80fps in the open world, maxed out with FG/DLAA.

Edit: this is with a 4090/13700K/32GB DDR5, also it seems a bit better after a relaunch.

70k players on Steam now. Not bad for a Tuesday release.
Gamepass defenders in tears.

Let's not do this stupid shit

Who would have thought that a game with 20 years fanbase that it actually CLIMBED CCUs after the peak release on Steam among also the many other Elder scrolls CCU because its a huge fanbase, would jump on this. Who could have predicted?

How could Atomfall not get these CCUs? HMMM I wonder?

Taking a look at the sales numbers despite this abysmally high price for a remaster i have to say it :

It
Just
Works

Bought on PS Store the moment it landed (I kept refreshing it until it appeared around 11:30am). I got the deluxe edition and downloaded it to my PS5 Pro. I knew it would shadow drop so before I went to work, I put it on rest mode so it can download it. Will be playing it immediately after I finish platinuming Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered.

A zero marketing shadowdropped remaster that's also on console and gamepass handily beats all of the recent quadrouple A releases...

Really buts AC:Shadows and Co. into perspective.

What version of DLSS doe it have? I have the same system as you with the only difference being the ram size. Any OC's on you CPU and/or GPU? Thanks.

Back then when Bethesda were doing games gamers actually wanted. Well gamers still want Oblivion kind of games today.

I wonder why. What the main things those big games have in common? bad marketing for those big games? That must be it.

But But we where told games on Gamepass would bomb automatically and expect low CCU Steam numbers. That was supposed to be the narrative :P

Where are the usual suspects complaining that Steam CCU threads are irrelevant for games on Gamepass as well? I don't see anyone complaining now.

In fact, I see them celebrating this as a victory for MS. No need to mention names, you know who you are. ;)

Lmao at people being reminded of, or even just realising now how big The Elder Scrolls franchise really is.
Fallout always palled in comparison and that has also become pretty big so of course any new Elder Scrolls content would top charts left and right.

I wonder if this does anything for the OG's numbers. Having said that most people these days will be using Mod Organizer 2 so you won't see their activity on Steam's metrics. Maybe it will cause a resurgence in Oblivion's modding scene.

As long as they dont fumble it like Starfield
Starfield was just too ambitious, especially for that engine. They tried something different and it didnt totally work out (Starfield still has some of the best side content they have done imo).

They know what they are doing with Elder Scrolls. One big map, filled with stuff to do.
