All the complaints about not being able to group up i do not get at all. If im out wandering around and i see someone doing the same stuff i am i just hit L3 and options and then invite them to a fireteam. All of a sudden i have voicechat with them (if they have mics) and we group up and take shit down. Its a ton of fun.

Nobody said they couldn't group up, just that it's dumb that there isn't any real matchmaking for most game modes. I haven't seen a ton of players, and when I do, they usually just run off immediately. And if you do join a team, you get booted out to a load screen first. Nothing terrible, but just annoying.

Shit should be like Diablo. I click the mission I want to do and it finds me a team. Done.

My opinion thus far.

So far I am level 15. Having an absolute blast with the game. Story so far is crap in its delivery, reading the lore online and through grimoire cards is more enjoyable than what I have seen in the game so far. *sigh* Having great storytelling in this game could have made it better but the lack of it does not hinder my enjoyment while physically playing it.

The missions, while they are repetitive are fucking fun as hell. Im always playing with a buddy and its some damn addictive fun.

For me the fun is in blasting fools in the face as much as possible, the fact that the thing that makes this game feel repetitive is that you are just constantly mowing down enemies here and then going there to blast more enemies in the face is a plus for me, its just so damn satisfying here.

It seems like a lack of weapon variety but I love the fact that you really feel the difference in each type of gun as you level it up, a gun at level 4 feels nothing like the same gun at level 10, the progression is really noticable.

Its also gorgeous, just gorgeous.

PVP is a blast.

Bungie has a fantastic foundation here and if they continue to expand and improve on its shortcomings, it will one day achieve true greatness.

Fix the story telling, add more mission variety, let us fly the damn ships!, and just keep listening to fan feedback and building on what you have and this will go from a solid fun new IP to a real masterpiece.
I totally agree with everything. This game is so FUN, but I wish I was hooked to the story like I was with Halo. I don't even know what's going on in the story LOL

Honestly, right from the Beta, all I wanted was a good shootbang game that wasn't Call of Duty or Battlefield that a ton of my friends would pick up and play every once in a while. I also wanted some areas where I could just roam around and shoot things for an hour at a time for podcasts and the like. I got everything I wanted. The Patrolling is vast and enemies are always spawning. The Strikes are a welcome challenge if I ever need one. The PvP is spot on. The story bores me to tears but I don't think I'd ever play it more than once even if it was the most emotionally engaging thing ever.

I'm fine with my $60 now spent. I'll pick up the DLC if my friends are still playing by December.

This game takes the worst of Mass Effect and all of Too Human, poorly copies Borderlands, and then creates one of the biggest gaming let downs I've ever seen.

I loathe it.

The absolutely best thing about Destiny is that the beta's insipidness inspired me to go back to Too Human, so I spent another 40+ hours having a blast with it over the past couple of weeks.

I didn't hate what I've played of the beta, but it wasn't particularly good by any means. However, I really dislike the way they've handled reviews, with reviewers still not having access to all the content.

I think this game lacks many social features, I really dislike how there is no matchmaking for Missions.

I wont get into my main complaints it has already been stated in this thread by others, I need to just ask why this game requires online only?

There is nothing MMO like in this game or anything that would require persistent online connection, beside Public events and 3 people on the map which you can barely Interact with.(Strikes/Raids don't count as they are selected from a Menu)

I need to also ask where are the public events?, I explore alot and nearly done with the story, 3 missions left on Mars, Level 21, I've done a shit ton of farming and yet I have not seen one.

I can only chalk it up to two possibilities:

A:I'm the unluckiest Destiny Player ever
B:The Nerf to Public Event frequency was too severe.

This game could of been a single-player game with the same modes now intact, only thing that stopped them is this new Social DRM BS most companies want and the barren Single-Player content.

Yep, from what I've been hearing it is really, really disappointing. There's a reason why Activision wanted to hold off on the reviews.

The bad word of mouth this is getting is not a good sign for a sequel.

You haven't played the game I reckon?
Cause no, it's not disappointing at all, for me and tons of other people.

Calling this a 'mediocre' game is just silly if you ask me. It's not perfect by any means but definitely 8+,

I think by now we know why :( a 78 on Metacritic would have been a huge boulder on the tracks for the hype train. I think it's safe to say that having scores on day one would have cost this game a big chunk of sales, since it was expected to be high 80s or 90s by most. (including me :()

I personally have no interest in buying the game for my own reasons, but wtf? You do realise 8 is more than great...right?

I do but I have my own system

- Games lower than a 7 I NEVER buy, no matter what it is.
- Games between 8-8,9 I buy if its one of my fav. series, problem with that is that I finish the game only once or twice.
- Games between 9-10 are a day one buy for me, I enjoy them the most.

Say what you want but this works for me

Games great, just like beta. I'm having a blast. Still on earth, not done any Moon stuff yet. Don't care what the scores will be, I'm happy so I win.

This game will die off within a month I reckon. I really hope the expansions really change the game (ala Diablo 3 RoS) or else I'm gonna be sad cause I was really hoping Bungie would pull off something special here

Legitimate complaints I have:
There needs to be more than 3 person fireteams for PvE. It's stupid, I myself am usually in a full chat party and we end up breaking everyone up because of the player limit. I know the game can handle it because your 3 person team can still "play" with randoms found in the gameworld. And the fact that there are strikes with 6 people also means it can be done.

The HUD is too small or not eye-catching enough IMO. Doesn't feel very "quick glance got my info" similar to a counter-strike. The minimap in particular is kinda fucked as it is constantly covered up by psn notifications which is silly for a game that is so socially focused both in online and on the PS4 itself. I don't care if I can disable notifications or whatever, I shouldn't have to do that.

Some sort of level scaling for enemies, similar to a borderlands. Means that high level players can play with low levels and vice versa without the game becoming impossibly hard or too easy.

Either a map-vote or better rotation for PvP, it's always the same 3-4 for control and deathmatch, hell we had the same mars map 3 times in a row.

A lot of insane lag going on in PvP, kills and killfeed delayed by 5 secs sort of stuff and people warping all over the place. I get that it's launch week and I'm willing to attribute it to that, but it is still a problem.

So I beat the story missions. Finished at level 18. The story sucks. The strikes (mmo raids basically) are the shit.

I have to say, this seems like Hellgate London to me.

You're missing out on tons of fun games though.

You put that much stock in someone else's opinion?.

The strikes with 6 people you're talking about are actually Raids. I don't know how people still confuse Raids with Strikes.

If you're hoping Bungie pulls off something special, and that the expansions give the game a shot in the arm, you'd better hope it stays alive a lot longer than a month. lol

also, your avatar makes me tingly.

Yuck. So many 90+ shit games and sub-75 gems out there.

I haven't played the game either, but the problems people are identifying are the same ones I had with the alpha and beta, so I feel pretty confident that they are real. I'd rate Destiny a 30. That's the maximum bid I'd put on EBay to buy the game. At that price I can dismiss the game's flaws and enjoy it as the shallow repetitive fun romp that it is.

Anyway the game really opened up for me when I left Earth and went to the Moon, me and a buddy were already having a blast doing the same stuff as in the beta, but when we played new content it really became even more fun.

For me there is no reason at all to dislike this game if you like co-op lootbased shooters.

How would you know what works for you when you've never played any game that's scored under a 7? Could be missing out on your favorite game in the world and you never knew it.

How'd a series become your favorite if the first game in the series scores an 8.1 or something? You don't use videos to make a decision at all?

This...

O_O

Then again, if your tastes are that similar to the American/European gaming press, it must be nice to have such simple guidelines to your disposition.

I'm absolutely loving the game so far. I feel my only complaint would be the number of planets available.

Bungie originally stated that the entire solar system would be in the full game. They should have stuck to their word and not made statements they couldn't live up too.

so, I've run all the missions in all planets since yesterday...
game is pretty well done, but cant help but to think that with all thats been said about it,
there should have been more of it.

yeah, yeah, pvp, raids and what have you, I'm not referring to such.

I'd give this big marks on attention to detail, medium marks on fruition of gameplay.

still, some pretty fucking epic moments in the game, and if its not judged like it was the coming of Christ, its a very good game.
activision + marketing + expectations = not a good base to start.

Those things...have nothing to do with gameplay or how Dark Souls plays.

your post mentioned things other than gameplay so don't try to make it seem like I was the one who was going off topic. dark souls is poor in every regard other than it's combat if you like that crap fine thats your choice.

Once again, the level design in Dark Souls is a greater draw than its combat. The game's greatest strength is level design. How much of Dark Souls have you played to get this opinion?

Damn, and here I thought that all gaffers were enlightened and didn't go off of review scores.

I'm not the guy you were commenting with. I just wanted to point out that you don't have to play the retail game to have a pretty good idea of what it's like.

And yes I played both the alpha and beta. Destiny was my most anticipated game of the year...until I actually played it. I could tell that bringing in MMORPG elements in the game would hurt the story and mission design without compensating that with the huge amount of content that MMORPGs typically have.

After an initial excitement, I quickly got bored with the missions on earth and retreading over the same areas only amplified that. I expect that the same would happen for the rest of the planets. If on the other hand the game was say twice as big so that I only had to spend half as much time on each planet, then by the time I was getting bored with an area, it be time to move on. That's why the limited content hurts the game so much.

Let me guess... Asylum Demon giving you too much trouble? Lordran is a carefully crafted, widely-praised masterpiece of level design and is filled with a variety of enemies/bosses/interesting areas. And don't get me started on the lore. It's not for everyone, but calling it crap and doing little to explain why you feel that way won't win you many friends around here.
