Deus Ex 25th Anniversary message from Warren Spector

I was considering playing it again since it has been added to PS+, but I don't want to darken my memory of it. I originally played it on PC, and I fell in love with how immersive it was.

Nice, legend right there, whats his new game called again. Judas?
That's Ken Levine's.

Warren's new game is multi-player slop. :lollipop_crying:

I'm sure it'll be cool an original but I sure prefer he was working on something single-player.

genius game. never gave it a fair shot until just a few weeks ago when I started playing through it on the Steam Deck...

and now I'm mad that almost no game innthe genre since even comes close to it. Prey is the only recent game that is comparable

Immersive sims are difficult to make and considered hard to sell to wider audiences. That being said, there are major successes that could fall in the category like the Elder Scrolls and (some of the) Fallout games, and Arkane had a solid run with Dishonored 1+2 before Prey unfortunately bombed. It's interesting that there are basically no games trying to replicate the success of Elder Scrolls.

Genre's a rarity now though outside of a few indie releases. We'll see what Raphael Colantonio has in the works next.

Immersive sims are unfortunately a very difficult genre. They're expensive to make and difficult to market and even smaller budget titles like Weird West can turn out to be flops. System Shock Remake was probably a mild success, but that was because of the IP and the fact that Nightdive has a devoted fanbase.

At the end of the day a guy like Warren Spector needs to earn a living. I won't be critcizing his choices even though I'm not interested in his upcoming project and the phrase 'PvPvE multiplayer stealth game' makes me want to vomit. ;)

I dont think any rpg franchise has had as many bad sequels. Shame.

Invisible War was such a massive step down in quality for t was like getting sucker punched in the nuts.

I always wondered why nobody came for the Elder Scrolls throne, especially considering how many copies Skyrim sold. You'd expect at least a few studios trying to cash in with clones, but there was nothing for years.
We did recently get Avowed and Tainted Grail. Grail was the better of the two, but neither really scratched that Elder Scrolls itch.

I was so excited to see this on psn till I realized it was the PS2 version.
For one blissful second I thought some beautiful people shadow dropped a remaster.

We need a remake of this game man

Sadly, this license is in limbo with fucking Embracer group when they bought Eidos. They cancelled the Deus Ex the Montreal team was doing. I doubt it ever crossed their mind that there's easy cash for a remake of the first one.

I prefer they leave as is if they can't have the right peoples working on it.

Game looks cool imo but yea, I wish it was SP.

Otherside cancelled Warren's System Shock 3 for this, that's the most rage inducing fact about all this

I kinda wanna play the ps2 version that was just rereleased on ps5 out of curiosity lol. Already played it on pc.

Warren Spector made some amazing games. Nice to see him remember when the games he made were revolutionary. Like System Shock.

25 years later, it's still a top 10 game of all time to me. It's the game that left me chasing that same experience for so long and after so many years there are so few games that really manage to tie the world building, game play and art direction so well. That talent, vision and ambition is a rare thing.

When I think of "cyberpunk" as a genre in video games, Deus Ex is that game.

One of my favorites of all time, a case study in fantastic world building and stellar game design. I would literally pay obscene amounts of money for it to be remade, but I assume it'll never happen so I won't get my hopes up -_-

It's a fucking tragedy what happened with Eidos. I really did enjoy Human Revolution and Mankind Divided and even though they created those games under the ownership of Square Enix, I don't think SE really held any reverence for the classic IPs that Eidos delivered in the past. Now with Embracer, the situation is bleak.
Out of all big names that have fallen from the past, Eidos is the one that hits me the hardest.
