I accidentally posted this question in the official thread just was wondering if anyone has the same issue, here's my question:
Seems Deus Ex MD on my Steam account is stuck on Update Queued, I've tried restarting Steam and trying to move the game up the queued order to have it download the update but nothing working. Anyone know how to fix this? I'm assuming its a server issue or something.

Change your download region to something different.. I've heard people say montreal works.. I used Russia.
To do that, just go into settings>downloads and change your download region.
I'm guessing the patch file wasn't propagated to all of steam's download servers for whatever reason.

Yes, that's what it looks like. After it crashes, this is what's in the dxgi.log file that gets created:
I had it open, closed it and any other app I had running, still no dice. :/
Try renaming dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll

Gotta say, at .5 and .010 at least I can barely see the difference between having SweetFX on and off. It's there, but ... I'll play around with it and see if I can get it to a degree I'll like.

I loaded my save, did the heist instead and did *not* call Sarif, did harvester the same way I did before and did not get the crash that time. I was wondering if it was related to calling Sarif that time, but I spoke to a friend who did the heist and did call sarif and she didn't have a crash

The benchmark itself is pure dogshit, it either crashes or my fps sucks.
Otherwise playing the game from Dubai to Prague just outside the apartment I dip into 60s but not under so for me It's all smooth and awesome.
If I turn off CHS and just leave Volumetric lighting to on instead of Ultra my lowest seems to be high 70s.
I also turned off Sharpening as that combined with TAA looks awful. Way less shimmering with it off.

Great, my steam copy has become literally unplayable. Started the game yesterday, played for 6 hours and noticed that it had stopped saving around the 5.5h mark. Basically like this.
A restart helped for another hour but at this point it got worse everytime this happened. Now I can't even play for more than 5 minutes. I tried everything from going offline to deleting all my old (7 or so) save files. Any other tips?

My ambient occlusions are all shimmery and ugly when on ultra.

For me game caused system crashes because my CPU OC. Lowered from 4.4GHz to 4.2GHz and crashes stopped. Something to look into.
What kind temps you are seeing?
I have 6600K @ 4.2GHz and 980Ti. Neither is pushed above 80% when doing V.High @ 1080p and temps are low.

Anyone on 21:9 able to figure out how to fix misaligned UI elements? ie. all tracking notifications are displayed well right of what you are actually looking at.

That's by design, as it's temporal and most temporal techniques will shimmer, sometimes more, sometimes less. I agree that MD's implementation for TAO is borderline defective. MD's TAA is nice though.

Do we have a summary of visual problems encountered? I don't know if this has been mentioned but when I returned to the subway (Ruzicka), I've experienced some lighting problems when Contact Hardening Shadows were on. When I look into the lightstands (in any angle), everything gets a white filter which disappears when I look away. Anyway, I turned the contact shadows off and haven't experienced it since.
Try 0.75 or 1.00 for strength, and the default 0.035 clamp for something stronger. It's just enough to reduce the softness without introducing edge enhancement in most games with TAA/TXAA.

High AO is acceptable, Very High isn't currently worth enabling.
Super short summary? Any CHS setting, Very High Shadow Quality, Very High Ambient Occlusion, and Tessellation (which causes smearing issue on select NPC faces) aren't currently working as intended. Everything else works fine.
Textures on Ultra has given stutters to some, drop to V.High or High if running them on Ultra.
i7-4770k/980 Ti here.
Again, I think it's the way the game currently handles streaming assets; I've always called it load stutter. I've only experienced the stutter in Prague. I tried dropping the texture quality to Very High, which only uses about 4.5 GB of VRAM on average, and I experienced all the same stutter in all the same problem areas in Prague nonetheless.
Now find way to hack that into pre-rendered cutscenes :b I had to swap back into MD's default jacket because started to annoy me how jacket kept changing between gameplay and pre-renders.

Is there a reason that Eidos Montreal seems to have no idea how a mouse should work? I understand the latest patch fixed some issues, but you still have:
- Different X / Y sensitivity
- Acceleration
- "Granularity" - not sure what the term is but the mouse moves in very perceptible "steps" instead of a smooth gradient.
- Maybe other things? Mouse just feels so off compared to Doom, CS, really any other FPS game.....
I just play with a gamepad so it's not really a big annoyance to me personally, but it's so bewildering to me that something so simple can be done so weirdly. And it was the same case in Human Revolution - which was a on a completely different engine!

There's no mouse acceleration. I just tested it.

Separate settings for X and Y is fine, although I'm not sure why you'd ever want them to be different. Especially for a game with so much vertical level design.

For those of you reaching for the 4K/60fps Holy Grail in this game...it is achievable with a top-notch IQ if you have the right setup and settings tweaks.
I initially gave up the ghost trying to achieve 4K/60fps without sacrificing much IQ in this game. Game just doesnt seem optimized enough for it. But who I am kidding, I kept tweaking and spent way too much time coming up with a way to achieve it that still looks aces from a visual standpoint. With the below setup I'm pretty consistently at 60fps in the Prague areas of the game, which seem to be the most demanding.
I had to go back and kick-up my Titan X Pascal overclock in order to get this done, so this configuration is probably only for those with that same card or a very-OC'd/SLI 1080. I unlocked voltage and got a +200 core clock offset and another +600 on the memory. That helped me get over the hump.
For the specific settings, I found a configuration that works really well in 4K while minimizing some of the settings in the game that make little difference in this configuration or are performance killers. I'm at 60fps+ most of the entire time with the exception of the occasional dip in busy areas of Prague. Here's my setup:
Display: 3840x2160
Exclusive Full-Screen
No MSAA
V-Sync: Triple Buffering (if you don't want this then remove for a slight bump in performance)
Textures: Very High
Texture Filtering: 16x
Shadows: Very High (you could even drop it to High for extra FPS and not sacrifice much)
No Contact Hardening Shadows
Temporal AA: On
Depth of Field: On
Volumetric Lighting: On
Bloom: On
Subsurface scattering: On
Cloth Physics: On
AO: Very High
Tesselation: On
Parallax Occlusion: High

That's not true. I just tested it myself. Sensitivity is 3% on both X and Y at 400 DPI and 1080p resolution
This is my fix point for testing (aiming at the white light in the middle, a little hard to see)
This is me doing a slow swipe across my whole Qck+ mouse pad:

I tested both methods about 5 times at that same spot and the results were always the same: Swiping faster would lead to my view point traveling further, thus implying mouse acceleration.
It's a pretty minor difference for me but I'm using a very low mouse sensitivity so I can see how it would be a much larger deal for someone with higher sensitivity.
Haven't tried it myself but I've heard reports that the difference is nigh imperceptible.
I also did a similar test. While I saw slight variations in the results, the differences were so minor that they can easily be attributed to the unscientific nature of the test. It's certainly nowhere near the acceleration seen in shitty ports.

True. There is some small differences, but are they enough to justify noticeable VRAM usage? That is up to personal taste and decision. For me there is no point outside of screenshotting after freecam hacks land.
Edit: During gameplay and as you are on the move.. difference is so much nothing.
i was only able to tell looking at the cracks on the walls, it is the only place it looks a bit off on very high, everything else looks the same

I honestly can't tell the difference from those screens above. But I saw a better comparison the other day, which has a close up police officer. Textures seem more noticeable on clotings/gears.

What's your CPU usage?
Hugging NPC's isn't normal gameplay tho and even in dialogue scenes it's hard to tell difference most of the time.

Even at 4K I can only tell the difference if I'm looking directly at a texture from really close. It's worth it to bump it down and then bump up a more noticeable feature like Very High/Ultra shadows or AO. Or enjoy the extra frames 👍
