Hmmm, I have been totally ignoring Cerberus and Nevan ever since I got them. Maybe I should give them another chance, tried both, just didn't warm up to them.


My bread and butter nowadays is high timing with Agni Rudra, mid air weapon switch to beowulf, jump kick down and launch into the punch combo (sweet dreams).

Nevan, quite clearly--is a weapon for the DMC3 vet to the Contra hardcore factor. This user on IGN/Gamefaq DMC3 boards hosted a video of him using Nevan (wow!), I think it's up at one of the video links I posted above. If not, the panda attack videos show it off pretty good.

And Nevan DOES have a few foward motion attacks. R1+Foward+/\*press and hold

as well as the crazy combos. R1+Left/Right+/\*mash /\

I'm not saying you have to love Nevan to be a veteran at Dante Must Die mode, but it's an awesome weapon and you really have to 'force' youself to really see the inner depth of it. Swordmaster makes Nevan 20 times better btw.

Holy shit! Finaly checked out the videos and they blew me away. More than the awesome ownage being handed out with Nevan, what caught my attention is all the killer moves I didn't even know existed. I'm assuming most of these are due to a leveled up Swordmaster style? I really have to get back to the game and try out the other styles.

As to DMC 1 vs. 3, there's really no comparison. DMC 1 is very beatable on normal difficulty for the average gamer, but as you go up the higher levels you notice that the game mechanics are extremely limiting and often frustrating, especially in DMD mode. That shit is just an exercise in frustration, and tediousnes.

DMC3 on the other hand has a depth that is immediately noticable and any frustration arises from the retarded continue system rather than any actual failing of the combat mechanics. I don't think there's anyway I could go back to DMC 1 after playing 3.

Still, you gotta give credit where it is due, and DMC 1 is the original modern 3d action game, and it seriously owned back in 2001.

Yeah, trust me--when I post links to combo videos I assure you they are "watch worthy"--I know a lot of links get thrown around at GAF (and there are about, oh--50,000 DMC3 videos, you don't see my posting all of them now do you?)

And yes, as I said--Nevan is a weapon that is truly 'able' worthy via Swordmaster.

The best Nevan attacks are crazy combos, go to the menu listings under action and style to read up on how to do all the special attacks, they have video demonstrations as well. You might not know some of them

Although DMC1 had a much small 'combat system' than DMC3 (which you can't blame it for given it's release date) it still has the core features that makes the system so good. Do anything on anyone at anytime, create your own chains and cancel in and out in to anything. There are some damn good DMC1 combo videos out there as well, don't underestimate just cus' it's a 2001 release game.
