They went to Codemasters playing It on a Devkit.

It's not a Bugaga Video so you can watch it on your own without having a guilty conscience.😉🤣😂

Still a DevKit at Codemasters
I can see why Sony isn’t BFF with DF but being almost the only outlet doing exclusively this things with consoles (gamer nexus is more PC centric and NX-Gamer is only one guy) I think they should have access to this kind of hardware before everyone else.

So 1080p to 1440p (1224p in Monaco in the rain) using PSSR. Provides a similar image resolution fidelity wise to the base Ps5's 1800p to 2160p. PSSR is literally a game changer. Excellent result.

Though it's fair to say that image quality is not as good with pssr.

The technological upgrade with all of the RT effects enabled on-track definitely makes the game look more grounded than it does on a base PS5. With the RTAO especially, the cars no longer appear to be floating on the track. It shows the capability of the Pro.

But the game itself also shows that ray-tracing is not a silver bullet for guaranteeing realism. Even with all of F1 24's additional RT, a fully rasterized Gran Turismo 7 runs rings around it and looks much closer to photo-realism.

*sigh* usual comments already there on the Eurogamer piece linking to this:

"Can't see any difference unless zoomed in", "Not worth it"

Can't these fuckers shut up for just once? They're not even supposedly interested in buying a Pro yet I swear they must spend every minute of the day scouring the net for any about it that they can shitpost on.

Pushsquare are still the worst though when it comes to Pro anger/bitterness. By far. 🤣

Season 9 Idk GIF by The Office

He mentioned/showed some break up on the fence detail. But for me at times the PSSR image looked more detailed than base PS5. You're heading into reconstruction vs native debate...

6:28 in and I can't notice any difference in IQ between PSSR and regular PS5 Fidelity on my monitor. Going to watch again later on the main panel.

Edit:

Okay now they properly showcased fence wires differences. Still a monumental improvement overall.

The improvements are evident this time and it is clear that PSSR is key to this console and it works, which is the important thing when delivering a convincing 4K image. The game looks spectacular.

This is one of the most hopeful reviews on the possibilities that the PS5pro can offer us and this is just patches for now, I imagine there will be room for improvement when it is part of the development of the games.

Did PSSR quality improve? Oliver noticed IQ wasn't up to par with quality setting on PS5.
Well, looking at the video comparison, the image is identical and even improves the aliasing in some elements. The elements where you say it fails (fences and some noise) is inappreciable without sticking the nose to the screen. Although it may change in live, which can always be the case.

I picked this game up during the recent sale, so I’m looking forward to giving it a whirl on the Pro. This and FF7:R appear to have the most obvious visual improvements currently.

I think the base ps5 reflection running at lower frame rate. It looks more stuttering to me.

Brilliant work from the studio probably the best effort pro patch out. Can anyone playing this on PC make a comparison with PC gpus? Im really curious to see how the pro compares in rt workloads.

Keep in mind, the better a base version looks, the harder to make significant improvements.
F1 2024 already runs at 4k@60 on PS5, so what else could they enhance? Only rt.

probably around 3060ti

I know that the 3060ti can run the game fully maxed out at 1080p 60fps
this includes RT shadows which the Pro doesn't use in gameplay.

so with PS5 settings it should be pretty close in performance

I really doubt it's that weak...much more likely to be in line with something above a 3070 Ti but not quite a 3080.

Also, no, the 3060 Ti cannot run this game fully maxed out at 1080p with ray tracing. The Pro also upscales from 1080p-1440p>4K, which is a lot more demanding than just 1080p.

On the Monaco circuit, with all the cars and extreme rain? I think it might be difficult for a 3060ti to keep the 60fps stable.

Strange choice not using PSSR for Performance mode too.

It's not really that strange. PSSR runs on the shader cores just like the rendering, and costs around ~2ms for a 4K upscale which makes it around ~25% of the performance available if you have for a 120 fps target (8.33ms). PSSR is simply too expensive for them to use it in the 120Hz and 8K mode so they need to use a less expensive TAAU instead.

Very impressive that they were able to add so many RT effects in there. First game thats really pushing the Pro's RT architecture.

Im curious to see just how well avatar and star wars perform. callisto too.

ok, not quite, but very close to 60fps completely maxed out.

this scene also should be an absolute worst case scenario in terms of weather.

the question is which settings the PS5 Pro uses. DF sadly didn't make a dedicated PC video for this game.
However, I strongly doubt it runs everything on Ultra-High, and we know that RT Shadows are off on Pro while this video has them on.
I wonder if RT Shadows off would lead to a noticeable fps improvement. But I assume it would maybe give you 5fps more here at best.

and yes, this is without reconstruction enabled, which would add 1~2 milliseconds of frametime to this.

Im really curious about outlaws performance mode on the pro. Im waiting for that patch to play it. Hopefully it will look much sharper and better rt reflections too

I know some of you have hater boners but the 60fps Quality Mode is now running with real time ray tracing for most things except shadows whilst still being mainly locked to 60fps and PSSR is upscaling this game from a lower resolution but coming out with comparable image quality, or better, compared to the base model scaling wise.

Screenshot person, post some shots from the tunnels which look a lot fucking better on Pro due to the bounce lighting.

This seems to be consistent across games, doesn't it? You get a detail and resolution increase, but texture quality seems to be lessened. I remember the Ratchet & Clank screenshots looked like they had been smoothed over compared to PS5 quality mode. Like when you see those selfies of people with no skin texture.
