Smoked Andariel my 1st attempt, she couldn't handle 4 wolves and a grizzly, can't wait to see what Act 2 brings 💯.
When I played the demo, my Javazon and mercenary got killed 3-4 times! And that included me needing to lure it to the stair door so I can go back and forth to heal in safety.

This not gonna float well with the die hards :D
Why do people like Diablo 3? The last I tried it (which didn't last long), it was so incredibly simplistic and basic, like they dumbed down just about everything to make sure grandma could play it. It might as well have been a mobile game. Same reason I hated WoW after all the changes. Press forward NOW! It's ok, we'll wait 5 hours until you're ready and make sure you never die!

I played it a ton. D3 is very smooth playing and has lots of quality of life features which D2 was archaic. In old D2, you had to pick up every gold pile and spent a lot of time with potions and town portal scrolls and identify scrolls (or find Cain to do it). And the production values are 10x better in D3 with effects and body parts splattering everywhere.

And D3 is a way easier game for those gamers wanting easy. At least at the default kinds of difficulty levels everyone starts with. I got killed in the D2 beta 3-4 times at the first boss. When I played D3 for the first time when it came out I only got killed 3-4 times beating the entire game and that was due to me being careless Ramboing it into a mob since the game was so easy I was plowing into mobs all the time. And a few times I did it I got swamped with Elites doing that brick wall move so I got trapped. No boss killed me in my first run of D3 when it first released.

My draw for the new D2 is a combo of nostalgia, a more gritty look (D3 is literally rainbow colours some reason), and it's a tougher game. You also dont get endless awesome items which I'd get every couple minutes in D3 where orange items were given out like candy.

Right, I meant to include those points as well. They definitely whore'd D3 out to appeal to the mainstream in any way possible. Fortunately that plan didn't work so well for them with WoW -- it's Classic that's doing the business from my understanding.

Dipped into this a bit yesterday and got instant goosebumps. I was quite surpised that despite the new into they left all the old German voices and the original music in. Perfect Remaster so far in my eyes.

Lets see if I manage to complete the games with every class up into hell difficulty.

Platinum seems to be almost unobtainable though. 2 characters to Level 99. lol

Loving this so far. Got a level 10 druid and just moving through the game at my own pace.

For anyone playing on PC, don't sleep on using a control pad, I plugged my Xbox One controller in and its a much more comfortable game to play (for me anyway) . Using buttons for skills is waaay better than manually switching.

Is it me or are some of the sounds off? Like necro CE doesn't seem to have the punch it had in the original

Also, I can't make out doorways for shit in dungeons. I have to have the map up constantly to tell where one is. I guess I could turn up the brightness, but like it darker

It's my first time playing D2 (played the hell out of both D1 and D3 on PlayStation consoles) and I'm just doing my own thing, not obsessed with "builds" as most people seem to be (with exemption to vets who know the game inside and out and what to start that way). I'm just playing naturally, will at least clear Normal before looking at ideas to optimize my Druid but I'm pretty sure I've got what I want figured out.

I got a really powerful rare mace drop in my 1st hour of play and it still hasn't been replaced. Grizzly transformation is great at tanking, Maul skill takes chunks off her health bar, additional summons do steady damage, fun stuff.

Just pulled the trigger on this and downloading now.

After thousands of hours on d3, Marvel Heroes (RIP) and Grim Dawn, and bit less with the likes of PoE, Inquisitor Martyr and Last Epoch early access (really promising ARPG btw), I realised how much this genre speaks to me. I've said for a while it might be my biggest regret in gaming not playing d2 ( i didn't have a gaming pc till more recently), so pretty excited to jump in

Yeah, we all know it's a good game, but instead of evolving and putting out better games for the last 20 years, this is what we arrive at. A time machine, and folks fork out money for a game most of them allready own, again.

The genious for Blizzard is obvious, but consumers once again show the idiocy of it all.

It's hilarious to see. :p
Ask other developers what they are doing last 20y?
They even don't come close to make game with that adictive repleyability content like Diablo 2.Maybe Borderlands series is very close second place.
It is exacly what gamers want fom remake, original game with updated graphic.

I lost connection right as I was doing the Andariel bug. Talked to Warriv, traveled East, and bam disconnected lol
How can I tell if the bug worked?

That’s actually pretty cool. Thanks. I’m noticing the mana drain with this Static/Nova build. I may keep that skill and maybe build something with ice/fire.
Just for historical interest; when the game originally launched, the elemental masteries were different from each other, Ice Mastery lower enemy ice resistance, Fire Mastery increase fire damage, and Lightning Mastery lower mana casting cost.

Lightning was meant to be a powerful but mana-intensive path to take. I am not sure why that was changed to just increase elemental damage, but i suspect it is because it might make teleport too cheap. So that is why you find yourself running out of mana.

Generally those who go full Lighting also go Energy Shield. And then pump at least half their stat points into Energy so that their high mana also function as HP.

I guess because people when done after a shit day at work don't want to use up more mental power just trying to figure shit out. This is why a lot of games get the 'Dumbed down' feel and that's ok.

This is prolly why game like GTA V are stilled played all these years later because there really isn't much to it.

My friend played Diablo 2 a ton on PC back in the day, so he preordered it for PS5 but now he's trying to get a refund just because there's a trophy for reaching lv99 in hardcore mode 🤡

Most people NEVER get to level 99 for DII. You can literally play for years and never get to it. Look forward to seeing how common it is for the new generation of gamers.

100% The older I get the truer this is. I have a hugely stressful job and portfolio, commute 2 plus hours a day and have two kids. I cannot just devote time into hobbies like I used to.

Even playing D2 for a few hours today on a public holiday I get the guilts 😅

I have a level 99 amazon on my old bnet account, still sporting my beloved eaglehorn.

It took 2 years for me to finally get her t0 that level i can not imagine doing that on hardcore lol

I have a fully runeword decked out Gozu Zael Pala and Merc and near perfect Anni and Torch after years of farming but because my ISP is blacklisted at Blizzard I can't ever play him anymore. :lollipop_confounded:

That seems a bit mental tbh. Gotta be one of the hardest trophies out there now.

Playing a barbarian on a PS5 controller is turning out to be quite fun. One thing I noticed though is that you don't ever want to get yourself into a situation where you need to do inventory management mid fight with a controller. That kills you.

Gull is one of these hard to get treasures. Mostly because only a few monsters could drop it in Act 1, but from Act 2 there are too many other items in the game that opens up and thus daggers become super-rare drops.

But another one is even harder to get; the Lenymo Unique Sash.

The item was so rare that I remember seeing it the first time, 3 years after started playing, and exclaimed "WTF was that?".

Lenymo is useless for anyone but early game players. But by the time you saw one you would have much better gear.

Just got to Andariel and then knocked it off as my teams call ended lol.

Inentory is tiny and like 5% of loot is relevant. At this level I'm guessing it's the same as usual., just grind the story and pick up the higher rarity drops with better stats

Caved in and bought this last night. Looks and plays great. Toggling the graphics is kind of a mind fuck. Like I remember it looking great back in the day.

I think I am going to try with controller this weekend. I am mostly a mouse and keyboard guy but playing D3 and Torchlight on the Switch in handheld was pretty fun. Will be even better with a proper controller.

I never understood this either. Really tried to get into D3 both on PC and Switch. The fun of these type of games for me is the RPG elements of building your character. D3 takes all that away from you.

You might be surprised.
Some of the most valuble items are Ethereal polearms for the merc. Four-socket crystal swords. Or in my case i am hunting for a 4 socket White 3+Energyshield staff. Items that seemed worthless but vital if you know what to do with them.

Late game the highest defense comes from certain Ethereal armours. They were a bug turned feature.

What should I be looking for as a necro? I keep picking up heads. They look shit though. And I was keeping a wand, then picked up an imbued axe with loads of cool stats. Doesn't seem as rigid as D3

The White Runeword is what most necros are looking for. So you are looking for a white wand with a native +3 of whatever attack skill you want. Whether it is bone spear or Raise Skeleton.

And basically fight and kill the countess in Nighmare a few times until you get the Dol and El runes together. Then use the socket quest to guarantee 2 sockets on the wand. And you get your end game wand right there.(note: some wands can only have one socket. check the link to find out what they are and not to use them.)

Looking for a good Shrunken head might be a while, for mid game you are better with a Rhyme shield until you find something better. You can use a shrunken head for Rhyme too, but you would do that with matching +skills of your choice.

Seriously, the Rhyme runeworld is my go-to offhand for any character. massive elemental resists and magic find at the same time. Very few things are better than that in mid-game. And it is cheap.
