Diablo 3 Beta [Beta withdrawal underway!]

I'm trying to do a media blackout. Unlike SC2 (and most games these days lol), I want my first experience with this game to be as fresh as can be. I am so hyped!
 
So looking at the login screen on a 1600x1200 monitor there is a bar across the top of the screen and you can see under the ground geometry at the bottom. Putting it in letterbox modes fixes the issue as it simply crops off the top and bottom with black bars.

It seems as though the current login screen was created without 4:3 in mind or I'm having some kind of error.

I'd take a pink and purple polka dot login screen right now if it meant I could get past it into the game.
 
Interesting that the login screen appears to be different from when I booted up the client.

I wonder if they change them every now and then or something.

Regardless, it's beautiful.
 
I am seriously considering downloading the client. Even just for the menu music. And of course, the options menu.

Also :lol at Blizzard. Snuggie, pillow and gps. They don't want us to move from computer if we forget to turn up the heat.

my menu didn't have any music. But I've only opened it once.

Well, I am getting one copy of game for dad and another one for me.

Yesterday we were suppose to watch one movie and I had live streaming on on TV and he said something among the lines :"What is that? Wait a second, isn't that Diablo?"
We then watched 20mins of stream before movie...

I want the game so badly. Let me in the beta to test it with my laptop.

Blizzard are secretly flagging those people dedicated enough to download the beta data before beta confirmation and jumping them to the top of the list. Believe!

One thing is for sure, we are going to own the shit out of Act 1 up to the SK. I have seen every class play through the whole beta now D:

I might buy a copy for a friend. He's more timid when it comes to buying games, and I know I definitely want a buddy to play with after the initial playthrough. So that would be (likely) a CE for me, and a regular edition for him.

Is CE planned? Because I would get that too.
And what is the possible release date? My game shop has December 2011 written on the page with the game. If that would be so, then these would be the greatest winter holiday ever xD

edit: and I want to play with gaffers when this game goes gold!
 
Lol i'm downloading the client and installing it so if i by chance get a beta invite that's less time to wait! ha :P

I installed the beta client, fired it up, proceeded to try and login, and it said "There is no Diablo III license associated with this account (ERROR_12)".

Blizzard have been quoted as saying that are 'pushing hard' for a Dec release.
And lets not forget this beta test is purely for performance (PC and server). Balance testing they are doing in-house. Which, at least to me, indicates they are extremely close.

I personally consider a Dec 2011 release very likely. I also consider release date to be announced at Blizzcon. I'm also ready to eat my words.

Haha, same, and the first time your heart skips a beat because it puts a successful check in the 'checking credentials' box just before denying you.

Great! If they could release it at that time of year, then it will be big, very big!

Hehe, downloading client too.

And question about equipment: since the stats are allocated automaticaly, does that mean that some character can't use some types of weapons or armor?
You know, dexterity for bows, strenght for armor and shields, etc...

What about monk with bow and armor which his strenght allows him?
Or DH with spear if that is even possible?

I am just asking, if we can have same diversity in builds as we have in earlier games.

Does anyone know, if the german release will be a censored version?

I want this game day one, but not, if I have to play it censored.

Windows 7 and no because I don't remember seeing agent.exe. If it just meant that the downloader couldn't start the agent.exe aka InstallShield Update Service Agent why would it be in my taskbar?

oh, I think I had same problem with win7 before. It's installShield related.

Sure UK version would do either, but then its a day 1 problem.

Edit 2: That was apparently from 2008 and a newer statement is this one

We are always aiming to give you the original feel for all language versions and as such we avoid compromising the game experience to reach a lower rating. For StarCraft II the uncut game actually was rated 12+ in Germany while the rest of Europe had a 16+ rating. For the demo version of Diablo III that we showed at Gamescom last week (which were not cut in any way either) we received a 16+ rating from the USK. That said, we don't have any details on age ratings yet - so we will have to see closer to release what the final verdict of the rating commission will be.

You can try disabling UAC too.

Dosnt matter you can simply download the UK client with your German CD Key from Battle.net
 
This game needs to be out 2 days a go. I downloaded the Torchlight demo and played it for 2 hrs before promptly purchasing. It isn't the same, but it is pretty damn good.

My guess would be a lot of Germans would like to play in German language, so UK client is not the optimal solution.
 
You just need to install both the UK and German client.
Copy paste the folder "deDE" (I think it's the name but not sure) next to enGB then rename enGB to enGB_old and deDE to enGB !

Edit : it's the idea but maybe you will need to copy/paste and rename other files too...

For me it is, because most of the time the German dubs are far from acceptable.
I recall Blizzard as the noteworthy exception with Diablo 2, but games like Team Fortress 2 or Mass Effect? Unbearable!

"Übel-Maul" "Stink-Schild der Zerstörer" "Baumkopf-Holzfaust" is good/accetable in your book?

for everybody who doesn't speak german - it translates to "Sick-Mouth" "Stinking Shield the Destroyer" "Treehead-Woodenfist"... and it sounds just as shitty in german
 
It looks like my luck changed after all. A friend of mine got into the F&F beta and brought his laptop over and I was able to play completely through the beta as a witch doctor.

Man this game is so amazing. It is absolutely gorgeous. The outside environments all have a painted sort of look to them, it's a really cool effect that I never really noticed in videos but is obvious when playing it. The other really stand out thing for me was the animations and spell effects, even simple things like the waypoint teleport is really awesome.

Hopefully I'll get into the beta myself and will get to try out the other classes. I was initially wanting to go with the witch doctor for my first character but after playing him and watching my friend play the barbarian and wizard, I'm starting to think the witch doctor is the least interesting of the bunch.
