Diablo 3 Beta [Beta withdrawal underway!]

Was 25th on the GAF list from more than a year ago (I know it doesn't really matter since they aren't giving out keys) and have had the beta installed for months! Still nothing...
 
So this is a silly question but I'm going to ask it anyway...The computer I have now (and not for much longer) uses Windows XP. All of the hardware in it will run the beta for sure. But XP is "below system requirements". So it won't run it at all right?

Very fast. Reinstalled my video card drivers and the blue screens went away, but I still freeze up on occasion. But it's a lot more playable now. Got my first skeleton king kill in.

This game...videos do not do it justice. This is a true Diablo sequel...and will probably be one of the best PC games of all time, talked about for years to come just like Diablo 2 was. If they can tune the difficulties correctly I can easily see myself playing this for years and years.

The email that I received says that we are free to share with the world screenshots, videos and any personal thoughts about the Beta. Are gaffers posting those in this thread or is there any other one dedicated just for that?
 
Skyrim has made me completely forget about trying to get in the beta for now. Fuck you Blizzard.

Sub 2 hours for first run with Barb. I even farmed some of those treasure guys.
Killed Leoric in 29 seconds. lol2handweapon

Game feels really nice. Physics and impacts are so good. Using bash in the open causes the grass to sway, enemies blown back, or sent flying. Really great stuff.
 
Wonder how long this is going to last me.... people that got in the beta at the start, are you guys still playing this or are you already done/bored with it?

I'm just finishing downloading and will definitely post some screenshots and impressions as soon as I get some playtime.
 
Gave it 15 mins before bed, runs a little slower than I expected considering I have a recent laptop, core i5 and 5650m (runs Skyrim on high etc...) on native res, high textures and FSAA off its not as smooth as I would like tbh.

That said, it did say my drivers were out of date...

As for the game I'm liking it for the few minutes I put into it. It runs really smooth with just a light hiccup at the very start. The graphics are not overwhelming but give a nice misty atmosphere and feeling of gloom. The soundtrack is Diablo all over, and the UI just feels familiar. Sorry for the generic impressions but those are from a very short game session.
 
OK so I just checked my battle.net account and I see Diablo III coming soon.
Does that mean I got in?!!!

i got in a little while back, played through it with a couple classes (at just over an hour per clear) and haven't touched the thing in almost 2 months. anyone desperately hoping for an invite is bound to be disappointed. the gameplay itself is wonderful and from my time with it i am positive the full game will be of high quality. the content that is available, however, ends extremely fast and does not lend itself to replayability whatsoever. the major factors in this are the extremely crummy low level loot and the limited skillsets available. as with every other game in the genre the good stuff is reserved for higher character levels and difficulties.

in all honesty i would have been better off not playing the game at all until release. i was essentially given blue balls by the whole experience. what is there is fun and fluid and hints at great things to come but there is so little to really do or see in the beta itself.
