Must be your PC, works fine here and there hasn't been a new patch in the past few days.

I tried out the Monk and the Witch Doctor today. The Monk was really fun actually. I like how the skills work, and later on when I had good stuff equipped which made her attack much faster it definitely felt like a very different combat experience from the other characters. As far the Witch Doctor, I just tried him out and wow, he's totally broken right now. The mana regeneration is significantly higher than what the skills cost, so it never goes down. Rofl.
 
So I had said before that the beta won't run on XP...Well, apparently it won't run on Vista either. So it only runs on Windows 7? I find that odd. Blizzard is relentless about making sure as many people as possible can play their games.

EDIT: I looked up the specifications and according to Blizzard it should run on both XP and Vista. What am I missing here?
 
I got an invite a few days ago, but haven't got time to play it.. until now. I created a hero, then when I click on Start Game this shows up "There was an error (ERROR_24100)."

Does anybody has the same problem?

General

Auction House
Stackable items can now be purchased and sold on the gold Auction House. These items can be purchased in any quantity, provided that the quantity is available for sale, and will pull from multiple auction listings if needed.

Battle.net
Player profiles have been added! These profiles will display important statistics for each of your characters, as well as 3D models featuring their current gear.
Player profiles will only be viewable while in the main, character select, and party screens. They will not be viewable in-game.

To access your player profile, click on your hero or press "P."

To view other players' profiles while in a party, right-click on their character. Player profiles for Real ID friends can also be accessed by right-clicking on their names in the Friends List.

Achievements are now available for testing. Please note that for the beta launch of this system, only a limited number of achievements have been included.
To view your characters’ achievements, click on the "Achievements" icon located in the lower right or press "Y" at any point while playing.

To view another character’s achievements while in a party, right-click on their character and select "Inspect."

Blind duration increased from 3 seconds to 5 seconds

Now has a 15 second cooldown

Damage reduced from 135% to 110%

Dashing Strike
Damage increased from 65% to 160%

Exploding Palm
Explosion damage reduced from 40% to 30% of target’s max health

Fists of Thunder
Damage reduced 120% to 100%

Inner Sanctuary
Spirit Cost reduced from 80 to 20

Now has a 30 second cooldown

Lashing Tail Kick
Damage increased from 180% to 225%

Cooldown removed

Lethal Decoy
Damage increased from 110% to 330%
Duration reduced from 5 seconds to 1 second

Decoy is now summoned directly on top of the Monk

Ability now plays a casting animation

well - with the wizard and stuff, managing your mana is a big part of playing - the WD in its current state can keep casting its most expensive spells and you'll never see your mana go under 90-95%.

"Early game" WD is supposed to be defined by having virtually unlimited mana, mainly because the cost of any spell is equal or lower than the regeneration speed of the mana pool. But what this means in the context of the demo at least, is that you're basically a spellcaster with no drawbacks. You can cast whatever you want, and you literally CANNOT run out of mana. It's impossible.
 
The draw backs is the spells are no fun and they all feel the same to me.

Diablo fans has a datamined achievement list up, some beta exclusive achievements. I kind of want to get that Overachiever achievement. Will have to do some co-op with the gaf to get that done :D.

Looks like there is lots more beta fun to be had when the test server comes back up. You will be missed LetsShootFun, BarbHitsHard, and ArcaneFired!

I wonder if they hid any Feats of Strength in there. The achievements listed are relatively easy, and more there just to test/demonstrate the system, like the achieves in the SC2 beta were.

I'll throw my Real ID email in too. Quote the post to see it just like TylerD. Computer has freezing issues in game from time to time, but if I freeze I'm usually back in within like 2 minutes.

Demon Hunter
* - GrenadesGrenades now deal 85% weapon damage, up from 80%. Nice, I liked using these. Up close damage is now 255% weapon damage with small splash though...
* - Hungering ArrowHungering Arrow now generates 2 Hatred and deals 90% weapon damage instead of costing 10 Hatred and dealing 145% weapon damage. Like this change, I didn't like having to choose between bolo/grenade and something else since I wanted more instant damage
* - ImpaleImpale now costs 25 Hatred and deals 275% weapon damage, instead of generating 6 Hatred and dealing 150% weapon damage. Good change too, Impale felt pointless and the animation is no fun.

Witch Doctor
* - HauntHaunt no longer seems to have a 3 active Haunt effects cap. ("You may have up to 3 Haunt effects active at once." was removed) I loved Haunt, so awesome if true



Wizard
* - Spectral BladeSpectral Blade now causes 35% weapon damage with each hit, up from 30%.
* - Shock PulseShock Pulse now deals 90% weapon damage, up from 80%.
* - Energy TwisterEnergy Twister now deals 46% weapon damage, up from 23%.
* - Magic WeaponMagic Weapon now grants 15% increased physical damage, down from 20%. Can now affect ranged weapons as well apparently ("Can only affect melee weapons." was removed)
Wiz buffs are nice
 
It's been up for a while now. I already played a round of MP with some public dudes in a 4 player game. Lag seems pretty bad. Witch Doctor mana regen seems to be secretly fixed. Achievements are working.
 
The new events in the campaign are kinda nifty too. And maybe I'm spoilt, but I expected some fanfare when you get an achievement. At least a noise to acknowledge your awesomeness.
 
Agreed, it really needs a sound. Need to get some games going with gaffers though, will take a while to max out every character again since I've done it twice already lol. I sure hope there's not another wipe coming :o
 
So Blizzard got upset people were using the multitarget abilities (like grenade, shock, electrical) that hit two or three times on one enemy. Sad times. Now it only hits once and grenade spreads uniformly.

Annoying but not entirely unexpected.
 
Man... this game... I took the weekend off from non-game stuff and played this, almost done with all the achievements :) I have spent more time with this beta than any other game other than sc2 and lotro this year!

The only thing I do not think I have tried is the AH, it feels like the only items in it are above level 13 req.

Can't wait for release. Decided to buy Book of Cain as a teaser :)

Edit: Is the beta down? I get stuck on the Retrieving Hero List... step now :( Edit#2: Never mind, can access my chars again!

Thoughts on Act 4 in Heaven? Not unexpected really, but do you suspect an invasion by Hell? How much interaction do you think we'll get with the High Heavens and the archangels there? Will we fight with them or against them? Both? Thoughts?

Sorry! I didn't know if it was off-limits, too early, etc.

Well, I would not mind if people actualy discussed it in clearly marked spoilers (most neogaf "spoilers" are not spoilers and only something people want to add so you check them anyway).
Unfortunately, I just know I will get spoiled if discussion starts and I continue to keep up with the thread. If there is enough material there to actualy discuss, a new thread would be better served for it.

My first play through of the beta I read and listened to everything and I am pretty impressed with the amount of story/lore that we have this time around. All the little audio clips describing the different monsters when you first kill one is a really nice touch.

Definitely don't want to be spoiled on any D3 story/bosses until I play the retail.
